For some reason some of my uploads made in game have been including parts, or the whole thing, of the creator platform and background. This means that rather than have a clean thumbnail of the creature, like this:

I get something like this:

or something like this:

The problem is that it also shows this in game, making those creations stand out and seem buggy. As best I can tell, this only happens with things made while playing the game, and where testdrive mode was used. As test drive mode is extremely useful (or rather the only decent way) for figuring out how parts move together short of accepting it, this ends up ruining the creation. As things are automatically uploaded from in game, there is no way for me to screen for this, and attempt to fix it before it gets sent to other people.

I have seen a few others experiencing the same issue, and believe it occured even in the unpatched game.

why did you have to post a new topic, you didnt even have to search and you can find at least 2 others because they have all popped up in the last 5 minutes

"Ralphiolio heproon en ralphiolio, an brugely vlamit, transflablama flognort!"
"Pishtashurn uh pishtashurn, oh gazig ma flurgnurg, oh va prahb ma blisger!"
"yureele quarm de benenser, ooh raba la dee teeb, ooh babba labba squeeb!"

Don't see a single thread describing this problem in the title on the first two pages. Nothing on the 3rd and 4th page, nothing on the 5th page. Or do you expect me to go through each and every thread about a patch or a bug to look for something remotly related to this?

Nothing in the thread titles of general discussion either. There are only threads posted in the help section, and nothing about the description for the help section even hints that it is the right place to post bug reports. The stickies seem to suggest that that section is purely for problems related to working the game which are the fault of the user, not problems which are the fault of the game. Feedback however seems appropiate for such reports since it is providing feedback... "This part of the game doesn't work, and I'm rather annoyed by it. Please fix the problem and show your paying customers that you actually care about future purchases." Seems simple enough.

And you don't have to get snippy. Technically I've had this problem for the last few days, as have others. I didn't see a thread about it, or even a mention of it in those threads I looked at in this section. As there are some who have been collecting a list of bugs from posts in this section, it seemed worth mentioning. Had I seen a thread mentioning this issue, I would have posted there. Forum search is only useful when you have keywords which can be pinpointed to a specific issue. For "thumbnail" I get a whole 6 listings, with 5 of them not related, and 1 of them pointing to this very thread.

well what can i say? i use the 'recent topics' button and after i had posted in two other threads about this i pressed that button and there they were and right above it was your post, all on the same page saying the same thing.

lots of people are having the problem with thumbnails and i also suffered from it until a while ago but i think i just got lucky. if you wanna know how i got lucky i guess you'll have to read the other threads

"recent topics button", don't think many people actually use that. or see it.

Anyway, more threads mean more chance that someone will be able to take notice and fix the problem. If it's an annoyance for you, it's an annoyance for them. If 3 or more seperate groups of people are experiencing the same problem, without having communicated previously, one could make the conclusion that the problem is not the user's fault, as the normal EA doctrine seems to imply.

Rather than being such a jerk about it, you should appreciate that someone is spending the effort to report the same problem you seem to be experiencing. Again, multiple topics mean larger problem, and greater chance that one or more of those topics will even get seen. Singular threads tend to just get burried.

Yep, same problem here. I haven't figured out why it's doing this or what's causing it. Avoiding painting or using painting causes plane fighting. Switching into test mode causes duplication of the creature when taking screenshots.

My thread about this with multiple images is located in the Help forum at:
http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/5295.page

Another thread referencing this problem:
http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/5443.page

I recall seeing this issue come up several times in the past couple days, but if you're not modifying your creature you won't notice it. In fact, I'm not even sure what triggered it on my machine because a mere hour separated between when the snapshot thumbnail updated correctly and when it started acting up.

Deleting the online copy and resaving the creation as a new one seems to fix the problem, however it also clears out any of the records for stages cleared with that creature. Meaning that either we have to accept having screwed up thumbnails being uploaded from that game, or we have to lose the record for stages cleared for that creature. Both options suck.

Yes, well, I simply resaved my creatures from the painting editor. From there they will save neat thumbnails. One does have to edit something to make it resave, but I simply edited the description. It needed to be done anyway. Then I deleted the old creatures and shared the new saves. Don't know what bad consequences this will have. I have noticed my creatures aren't available much in the sporepidia. But they never were. Many of them were always missing and frequents reports of "server problem".

shrugs.

Edit: correction, they are available in the web based sporepidia. It's the ingame server that is acting up.
