I haven't seen this question yet:

I downloaded the patch, and have tried several times to install the patch. It goes into the install wizard opens the .cab file, and starts patching files. After it patches (I think) five files, it freezes. This has happened several times, and most of the time, I have to hold the power button for five seconds and hard reboot my computer to get out of it.

For the love of god..
Somebody make a fixed patch.

It's been how long?

I mean, uninstalling and reinstalling without the patch works.
But jeeze. I had all of my friends and family start a game on different planets because they all wanted to see spore.
It was nifty having my mother's creature epic sized and destroying my tribe.

But pufft. The planets are gone :/
Creatures are still floating around for some reason.

Hmmm... I had a problem with Spore crashing on the Tribe level. Clicking on the helmet to get armour would freeze everything. Downloaded the new patch, hoping that it would fix this problem. Not only didn't it fix it, but it created a WHOLE LOT MORE problems.

Graphics seem better, but some rival creatures don't appear on screen, (but they can still attack you) cut scene movies dont display properly. One example is the "2001 Space Odyssey" gag. The Stick doesn't come back down and hit him on the head as before, music and sound cut out completely.

I was really looking forward to playing this game, but am starting to get annoyed that things just dont work. (Btw, my PC Specs fit the recommended levels)

OK, I installed the patch several days ago. I WISH I had the problems I saw mentioned! With all of this talk of "unplayable games," I get the luck of having the patch brake my game so hard that it crashes out 100% of the time when I run the program. I uninstalled the game after installing the patch, as the game was 100% broken, and re-installed the game. I played for a day or two, and then tryed the patch again. Guess what? The game will not load at all now. I am running Vista Home on a 64 bit platform, and nothing at all but MANY hours wasted by a patch that was NOT STABILE.

Unprofessional BS! My friends who stole the game have NO PROBLEMS with the hacked patch. Long live Spore as the most pirated game in history!

MMm i tried installing the patch multiple times now, and I haven't seen anything like this ever before,

the patch starts, but when the small screen, 'busy patching files' appears it just freezes and does nothing, I thought maybe it's just slow, so I let it there for a copple of minutes only to see nothing happen...

Uhm, it would be better not to release a patch instead of releasing something as bugged as this.

(maybe just make a rar file with the new versions of hte files so that we can just overwrite them in the game directory?)

Okay, the tech support person 'helping' me with my patch problem only caused more problems trying to help me 'fix it' than he did fix any. He wanted me to upgrade my perfectly working graphics driver- why, what the heck does that have to do with an external patch issue? - and caused game glitches because of it. Anyway, here is my problem (I tried to read back through, but I didn't see this listed). I run the patch installer, and every time, it 'finishes' installing- and then the patch error window comes up: 'Cannot find update directory' or 'update directory not found' (forget exact words, but its one of those). Then, it tells me after I click okay that since the installation was interrupted, the patch was not installed. No matter what I do, this continues to happen- I'd like a solution beyond just reinstalling Spore, though I can if that's the only way. I get the impression, based on all the bug complaints, that maybe I'm better off WITHOUT the latest update :/

I don't know what's causing your problems guys/girls... I just installed the patch in under 5 minutes.. the patch does pause at certain points especially at 0% (like someone mentioned half way through this thread).. But for me it's worked fine

specs;

Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit (Service Pack 1)
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.00GHz
XFX Geforce 9800 GT
2GB RAM

All my hardware/software is up to date with windows update.. I can't give solutions to the problem your having, but maybe you can check your computer is fully upto date (motherboard, GFX, Soundcard etc.)

I find it hard to believe that they have not issued a new patch, or posted an something official. Just pathetic. Still can't get pacth to work because of old files no matter what I try.

When I start spore, it starts up like normal until it gets to the part where it connects to my account. It tries to log on, but then it goes back to my desktop and a window pops up that says "Exception Raised unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00000018 at address 0x00cc7531. Do you want to debug? y/n" I click the yes button and it just closes spore. I tried starting it multiple times, but does the same thing each time. This started happening after my last update when my computer went to sleep in the middle of patching the update. When I woke my computer, the program would not respond and I had to force quit. I am running on a mac. Does anyone know what I can do other than wait for the next patch?

I am glad that there is a thread to post our Patch problems... but I am not sure if this issue has been brought up yet.

Thumbnails, thumbnails, thumbnails... *sighs* I know this isn't a HUGELY crucial issue compared to some of yours, but seriously, it is highly irritating.

Post-patch, the creature thumbnails on my Sporepedia are glitched. It looks they it stacked two of my creatures within in each other, so there are legs and heads and eyeballs coming out and weird angles.

Example:

Pre-patch Tofitek:
http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-Prometheus09|2263283782%3Asast-500133729129

Post-patch Tofitek:
http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-Prometheus09|2263283782%3Asast-500133769804

Anyone have any suggestions? While browsing others' profiles, I have noticed that I am not the only one with this problem. Either way, it's pretty absurd.

As for getting the patch not from EA... well, you can try it if you like, and it does work (that's where I got my patch). Here is a site where you can get the patch:

http://www.gamershell.com/download_32924.shtml

Also before anyone suggests this absurd idea, the patch I got ("unofficial" since I didn't use the awful EADM) is not the cause for the thumbnail error. People I know with the "official" patch also have the problem.

Galactic Adventures... looks like it's going to be another non-tanned summer!

Add another to the CTD when you zoom out from homeworld. They must have delegated patches to the less experienced developers which is common in many companies. Looking forward to the next patch. In the meantime, there are other games.
