Welcome to the Spring Fling Contest!
Spring is in the air! It's time to party!
Come one, come all to the biggest virtual celebration on Spore!
There's something for all types of creators - make a Creepy Carny for the fair, make a Vehicle for the Mini Frogger Game, make a Mech for the VIP party, we need all types - creepy, scary, cute, mech, alien, mythical, cartoonish, whatever you can dream up!

To join the Spring Fling and for a chance to appear in our virtual party GA, just enter a creation in any of the following categories:
~ Disco Block Party: Who doesn’t like a good neighborhood block party! And perhaps a chance to beat the Disco King!!!
Creation suggestions: buildings for the neighborhood, sound equipment, disco dancers, tables full of food, neighborhood party creatures and people, neighborhood pets, cars to be parked on the block, planes flying overhead, pretty much anything related to an outdoor party would be great!
~ Country Fair: Who’s up for an old fashioned country carnival! And maybe a little mini-game of frogger!!!
Creation suggestions: food stands, carnival game stands, carnival rides, people at the fair, strange creatures visiting the fair, aliens visiting the fair, cows, chickens, pigs, tractors, old fashioned toys, wagons, carts, and for all you creepy creators out there, we need some wild looking carnies!
~ Mad Hatter Tea Party: Do I need to say more?
Creation suggestions: Anything Alice in Wonderland or mythical themed will be just fine for this one! We will of course be looking for a Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Alice, and the notorious Red Queen, but any of the other characters are most welcome too. Feel free to make any mythical type creatures you like for this category also - all fairies, pixies, unicorns, and the like are welcome here! We will also need the table set for tea, and any other wonderland buildings and props you can dream up!
~ VIP Party: This is a special surprise category, all you need to make for this one is a character representing yourself. Be sure to put VIP in the character’s title so we can distinguish it from a character meant for another category.
For instance, if the great TarsTarkas made an entry for this category, it would be called "VIP Tars". Have fun with this one folks, it can be scary, creepy, mech, cute, cartoonish, mythical, anything you can dream up! Hey, creepy monsters and mechs need to go to parties too!
Rules:
~ Entries will be accepted from March 20th through April 9th, midnight EST.
~ Maximum of 5 entries. You may enter in all categories or just one or two, whatever you like, but only five entries total.
~ You may use any editor you like.
~ New creations only. If you have an older creation that you want to submit, please tweak it, freshen it up, give it a new paint job, just rework it somehow to make it new and re-share.
~ No templates or edits of others' creations, please. Entries must be your original work.
~ Please tag all entries with ‘springflingcontest’.
~ No bot parts, please.
~ Entries made with the complexity (freedom) cheat are eligible for trophies, but they will not be considered for the party adventure.
~ Adventures will not be accepted for this contest.
~ You may enter by posting in this thread with the link to your creation. You may also enter by commenting on any of the hosts' announcement creations on the sporepedia.
Please make sure your entries are in the sporecast. If you have recently entered, please allow 48 hours for your entries to appear in the sporecast, thanks so much!
Notes and Tips:
~ Our team is planning to give out lots of fun trophies for this one, and in addition, we want to give your creations a place in the virtual party. So remember ~ if you want a place in the GA, you must create something that will work in our adventure.
~ It will be possible to win a spot in the GA and one of our coveted trophies. But winning a trophy does not guarantee you will have a spot in the GA. We are looking for specific items for each part of the GA, and the creations that fit best will win the spots. Listed above under each category are hints about the types of creations we need for each part of the adventure.
~ Our plan at present is to upload the trophies, adventure, and yes - a youtube movie starring some of your entries on the evening of April 16th. This is a tentative timeline and subject to change.
~ Most of all, be creative and have fun...it’s time to party, folks!

Just a note to all partygoers out there, we are only accepting new creations. If you have an older one that you think will be perfect for the contest please refresh it, rework it, repaint it, or tweak it just a little and re-share. Only creations dated March 20th through April 4th will be eligible for the contest. Thanks!

Sound systems for block parties can be quite a tall order to set up, so instead of spending hours messing about with mile after mile of cables I went ahead and phoned up the specialists and this is what they recommended:
