1. Seriously. In order to "trade" I am expected to fly from system to system, rolling my mouse wheel in and out, in and out, in order to (a) visit the 20+ colonies I have producing spice, and (b) find aliens interested in buying said spice?
Having visited a system can we please get a communicator option at the galaxy view?

2. I have an appalling memory. And bad note taking skills. Why is it (for example) that there is (a) no facility to use the sporepedia to find out what philosophy an alien race is? Assuming ive asked at least once before at least. (b) no way to set some kind of tag on a system so I can leave notes to myself. "placed a monolith. return here", "good price on blue spice here!". "artifact on surface - return to collect when theyre more friendly". (c) someone was selling uber turrets... who was it again?

3. How is it, when I am at war, that aliens can pass unmolested through 30au worth of my alliance space without being attacked, to attack a planet on the far side of my alliance - a planet so far away from the battlefront I have to travel for 3 screens worth just to get the communication option enabled. As soon as I fly into their space im attacked - in galaxy view! - from all sides.

4. Why does choosing "hard" mode mean Im a slave to my allies? These guys leak reputation massively fast. If I spend 5 minutes concentrating on terraforming some of my worlds I get interrputed by pirates, grox, eco disasters, or an ally wanting to leave the alliance. All about 5 jumps away @ the max range of interstellar drive 4. ID5 can't come too soon!

5. I have uber turrets. Why do I have to baby sit them? Simple pirate threats they can deal with themselves. I mostly just arrive on an uberturret protected world to watch it do its job, then leave without firing a shot.

6. Whats with the friendly fire in space stage? Can I please have an option to NOT shoot friendly ships.

7. Why do abduction quests continue to count down after the creature is abducted? The wording does not imply it should. While at war with some other nation when I started space stage I managed to fail 5 quests for an empire because of this and now have what seems to be a permanent -50 happiness bonus with them

8. Through the miracle of genetic cloning I launch again. and again. But how does the miracle of cloning get my cargo back? Ok, cargo is expensive. On hard, I wouldnt mind having to fly over to my crashed ex-ship and "abduct" all my stuff to get it back. That might make me feel a little less like im cheating.

use the + and - for zooming in and out, works much better. I only use the mouse wheel when flying around on a planet.

You can also use Home and End to zoom in and out. Tapping the key zooms you entirely in/out --no need to continually hold down the key.

what saved my mousewheel and index finger was finding out i can use the X and SPACE keys to fly in and out....

"just want one thing, just to play a sim,

Some useful shortcuts I enjoy

X Key - zoom in

Space Key - zoom out (very handy indeed)

Tab - menu/storage/tools switch (reverse with additional shift-key)

Y-Key(Z for qwerty) - Open comm-link

& last but not least:

P- for Pause of course (nice thing, the tools/weapons still work when activated during pause)

Cheers oLO

PS: I´m sure I´ve forgotten a few

You can also pause with the Tilde (~) key.

Try my first published adventure, "Colonies Past", an ode to SimAnt.

"No." replied the sadist.
