For those of us who don't want to deal with wiping the game off our computers I'm really hoping they're working on a way to fix the patch. There's enough people who have suffered more problems post patch then we ever did before the patch that they SHOULD be working on a solution that doesn't involve complete deletion.

Right now I can play up to the space stage with the patch.. but the space stage is now impossible even with a brand new game. planets don't render completely.. nor do alien life forms. So the quests become a nightmare.

The game crashes a lot on tribal now too. If it's not fixed in a month I might consider a wipe of my game and starting over but I will be advising people left and right not to bother with buying the game if they haven't already because of how hard it is to run. These are the sort of issues patches are supposed to fix.. not cause

No, people that post in this thread in the help section are having patch problems, not everyone playing the game is having these issues.

If there were, there would be hundreds of pages long in this particular thread, and players like myself and my friends, would be unable to play the game. 3rd party game tracking data sites like Xfire, would have dramatic drops in playtimes. 3rd party fan-sites would be very active with people unable to play.

So no, the people posting here are definatly having issues, but not 100% of the population of those using the patch.

I didn't tink it was actualy the wizard that was the problem, i was stuck at 0% long enough to consider it broke.
Now it seems to keep repeating itself from 0% to 100%, I assume its targeting files in single.
Ok great it worked just needed some patience, I should have tried this from the start

Althoe it did seem like patience is all it took i did right click and run as admin.

I thought I would also post this here:

Just a quick update on the 'random computer rebooting bug' issue that I and some others here have mentioned that have been known to occur both pre and post patch.

I had to do a clean install of Windows over the weekend. (All the latest drivers...blah blah blah...)

Reinstalled SPORE without the EADM. Patched it with the .exe I dl separately, (I don't know where the saved game files are so lost all my 'progress' - read: never got past tribal so had to start again.)

The game was running fine for a few hours through Cell, Creature but not long into Tribal I had the same 'random computer rebooting issue' occur.

After that I came back to these forums and noticed that there was some concern that SecuRom can stuff your system up I then found a concise guide to deleting SecuRom off your computer. I followed this and was still able to play SPORE without it. However I still have the 'random computer rebooting bug' occurring. So this leads me back to my original conclusion that that root cause of this problem is something along the lines of what Omgwtfhax posted about here:

http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/315/1000.page

I think I will send EA Support some of my specs/diagnostic reports on this in that hope that any extra info they get will help rectify this issue.

EDIT: I have not checked to see if SPORE somehow reinstalls SecuRom when you startup the game again...will have to wait til later to find out...

Wow. I've never before downloaded a patch that broke what was previously a perfectly playable game. Way to go, EA - as if the DRM stuff wasn't bad enough.

Anyway, I'm another having sound and graphic problems that make my game totally unplayable. Just adding my name to the list of dissatisfied customers.

Some users have found that using the fix listed HERE: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/6301.page has solved the invisible creature issue.

I missed this thread. My game was perfectly fine... Well... conceptual issues, lots, but the game would run.

Patched, and great... except for one specie on every planet taking a reeeeally long time to load for the first time.

Loved the "colonies on galaxy" thingy... would seem obvious. But still, we cannot chart worm-holes if not in-sight or placing anysort of tag... So who knows what's obvious when beta-testing anymore...!?

After I started a new game... Wohoo! Finally I get to play with some of my CC, (OR NOT) made stuff!! You would have thought that was pretty obvious too! My game became all crashy and stompy... To the point now it freezes every three minutes or so.

My previous game also became corrupted, but days after... lots of saves in the middle, hundreds of in and out of atmosphere. Then is when "mostly" freezes, now.
Well it did... last "licensed machine" uninstaled... No use for it right now.

That 0% crahing thing happened to me too...my screen did go white and turn back...but I guess you people who still got it installed were lucky. I left it on throughout the day, when I got back from school my desktop was loading up. That's roughly 6&1/2 hours of installing. And it hadn't even installed the patch.

MadJack wrote:Alright. After a little testing, I found the problem, on my side at least, with the "Old file not found... etc".

It seems the patcher doesn't like those that modified one or all of these three files:

ConfigManager.txt
Properties.txt
VideoCards.txt

etc etc.

Had to log on especially to say thanks for enabling me to patch, you are a genius. Shame you don't work for Maxis.

I have this same problem. It's rather annoying. Everything seemed to work fine before the patch, now its fubar. I also have a crash when you attempt to start a new space stage. (Specifically when talking to the home colony and say "Yes. What's next?")

Any news about these issues getting fixed?

The patch itself won't download for me and I'm still crashing at every stage change. Also, my spaceship will get stuck on a planet after dying
