Hi Sporeans,
I wanted to let the community know that we have been reading your posts on the forums about issues some users are having with the game. We've also been following reports from customer support. We are right now working on consistently reproducing all issues and have fixes for many of them. We will be releasing fixes, but I don't have a time line for when it will be released. We are doing our best to get it out as soon as possible.

Thanks,
MaxisKane

Thanks for letting us know that there is someone at the other end of this forum paying attention. I know we can be a whiny bunch sometimes, but it is nice to know Maxis is listening.

Solution that Worked for Me

I'm one of those who went from a perfectly functioning game to a completely broken one when I installed the patch.

I was able to revert Spore back to its pre-patch state AND keep my saved game alive. Now I'm back on the Spore wagon and conquering the galaxy.

Basically, I did what this post suggests: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/330/3173.page#35001

Here is what I did:

1) Copy these 3 things onto your desktop to save YOUR game(s)-
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\SPORE\Games
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\SPORE\EditorSaves.package
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\My Documents\My Spore Creations\

2) Uninstall Spore.

3) Reinstall Spore.

4) Copy the two folders and one file (see above) from your Desktop back to their proper locations.

5) Choose to skip the "update" when Spore suggests downloading the patch.

6) Destroy the Grox.

What about scaling back some of the attacks so that when some of us want to explore, we don't have to rush back to save a recently terriformed T3 colony from being destroyed by the Grox because you can't find the correct wormhole to make it back. I suffer attacks once every 3 minutes and haven't been able to do anything since.

Plus, I managed to get an actual mission "from" the Grox, but just I was about to complete it, they started shooting at me for no reason. Now they attack all my colonies constantly. They've already destroyed a few of them entirely.

Thanks for working to get these issues fixed. I had just about given up all hope.

The patch downloaded fine, but the install failed. I found somwhere how to try to reinstall, but it didn't correlate with my system (it said to look in a folder I didn't have). I assume I have the patch file somewhere on my machine. The game is constantly freezing at screen transistions which ctrl+alt+del then cancel will usually fix. It has a big issue in creature mode when I move from one nest to another (game stops responding altogether). Very frustrating.

Anyone with the same problem and a fix??

Ive noticed that recently the sorts on the Sporepedia site have implemented a cap. Basically if you search by most popular within a category such as Spaceships you are only given the option to see between 200 and 800 creations. The pre-release sporepedia allowed it to go on indefinately based on its rankings. I used to use this method to browse for new stuff I wanted to see by going out about 30-40 pages and seeing some of the things that have been ranked well but aren't the top already seen things.

Will we be able to get back a larger cap on these items so we can browse more specifically for Sporecast material?

Also, will the in game version have any type of sorts by type? Right now it seems you can only sort by type if you search on a specific word.

Nice to see something from the devs besides silence. Thanks for the update.

I've started to notice transparent planets with missing textures which I never saw before. You can see space right through them. Other than that, a few crashes here and there.

Running on a 15" MacBook Pro.
