Graphics problems, please help.

Stars seemed to be stretched across the screen in every direction, when I'm at the SPORE start screen.
When in the game text and images get stretched acros the screen at all different angles making it difficult to read any words on the screen.

I have tried changing my screen resolution both on my desktop and in the SPORE game settings but I still can not play the game.

I'm using:
Windows XP service pack 3
Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 1.50GB of RAM
nvidia GeForce 7600 GT

I did get it working once, but it crashed along time ago and I can't find out how to get it back to normal.
IF anyone can help me fix the graphics so I could play?

Yes, uninstalled and installed again.
Still can't get graphics working properly. They didn't worked before or after installing the patches either.

My graphics card is listed as recommended, but I still can't figure out why the picture is all messed up?

Try deleting your preferences.prop file which will set everything in Spore back to the default. After that start up Spore and see if it is back to normal, if so, carefully adjust settings again being sure to only pick a hertz and resolution that your monitor and graphic card can support. I deleted the Preferences.prop file. Didn't make any difference.

I still have stars stretched across the screen, no matter what resolution I use in SPORE or on my desktop.

I have a HP L1706 Monitor and all the drivers are up to date. 1.60.00
Like I said, I would like to play SPORE, but I can't if I can only see half the screen when I try to play.

I also went to the main menu screen for the monitor, it prefers that everthing be @ 60Hz. So I haven't changed it, when I'm in game the monitor also recommends increasing the game resolution, not decreasing as suggested in forums.

First of all, don't run Spore from a shortcut, prefer to run the app directly. By default it's at C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/Spore/Sporebin/sporeapp.exe

Then try windowed mode, and also try all in-game resolutions (even increase it, just play around). I've had this happen in another game.

Tried running directly from C: drive, but still have really bad graphics.

Have run in window mode in every screen resolution from 800 x 600 to 1280 x 1024 @ 60hz.
This is in the SPORE settings.

On the desktop if I reduce the resolution too much the game will not run at all. This is connected to the graphics card through the nvidia control panel. I also tried reducing the settings for the game through the control panel, but this did not work either.

Doesn't matter what I do the game graphis are still distorted. From the opening screen, where I can see the Galaxy, the stars are still stretching in all different directions. When in the game any graphics can be distorted and stretched, and text is missing or covered making words difficult to read.

I did read the spec's on the box before I bought the Game, and I thought it would run fine?

Can anyone help?

Judging from the screenshot you show, I'd guess your video card is failing. I know that is pretty bad news, but that screen looks like the lines that happen when a video card is about to give in. You might try a different video driver, but I'd wager it won't fix your probelm

I ran a diagnostic tool over the graphics card and it says it's working fine. It had the same problem with my old ATI card and I managed to fix that. I just can't find the post or the person that helped me last time, it was 9 months ago. I don't see why it would do it on two completely different graphics cards?

Besides that I'm running 3 other games at the moment and they are running fine aswell, with no graphic problems at all. Spellforce II, Assasins Creed and Trackmania all run fine and require the same if not more graphic capabilities. Why isn't working for spore when these other games require much higher graphics to run?

Sorry I don't think my card has a problem, it must be something to do with SPORE. Does anyone know how to fix this?
