Im asking if anyone who mods spore can come out and explain what program they use.

Im done with the Sporemaster program and its hash files. Im looking to see if anyone has a better way to mod.

Personally i can care less how much anyone hates mods or crys about them, but im sure that this thread with fill with that BS as usual! For once can i get real answers. and before you post let me be the sarcastic one....

SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM!

Anyways, no idea. I don't mod. But I do like mods when they don't eat your game alive.

What a FN shame to have an awesome game and the only place to discuss about it is on sesame street.

and i cant even get a modding section to keep the babys out.

if i didnt care about being banned there would be a big picture here of a middle finger saying 'F-YOU SPORE COMMUNITY'

except you ash

What's wrong with a modding section? Modding is all you got left when you run out things to do in a game.

I would say why would a game have a forum section for modding when they went out of their way to prevent users from modding via the latest patch?

I know because after 1.51, no mods work except for one new weapons mod. I download mods; I do not know how to make my own if that makes a difference.

But I'm not too happy about it. Some mods I really liked, like fireball. I think the consensus is that it's something with PatchData. I don't know a lot about computers, so that's the best I can do.

I love me.

NO! This is not spam and modding is NOT, emphatically not, cheating. It is another, very creative way to explore the game code.

Can mods break your game?
Can you break your game using a perfectly good mod because you don't know enough to save files or do a backup and restore?

Well, yeah! Of course you can. And not all modders are created equal.

But, if you know the risks and want to see what you can do, have at it.

I see no reason to abuse or look down on mods or the people who use them. Just do your homework and understand that in a worst case scenario you may have to reinstall, and you may lose what you haven't put on Maxis' server or backed up elsewhere.

It's all byte salad. It's not a manner of "honour", it just depends on what dressing you like.

Ashkelon is so crazy in love she could care less what ya'll are up to these days. Yeah. Sweet.

Sadly, my talent run more toward web services. If you want application interfaces written to access the REST data feeds and manipulate the result sets, I'm your girl, otherwise...

I was just countering your expected buckets of blood for making a valid thread about modding... *hangs head* Shoot Davo, I didn't think you'd scold me... *sniff*

Wish I did know more about it, but there are about 15 other things in the pipe I have to learn first, like Spring and the DAO api's. Dang commercial software apps. I didn't tell you -- I'm coding again

THat said, I really think there ought to be a place to discuss modding. Either a new section, or would we be welcome in developer corner?

If we were welcome in Dev Corner, they could be explicit that we don't get support if we break games, et al.

--BUT-- this is the cool part for Maxis -- you get an ear into what and how the community is modding the game -- and -- we who are interested get a place to sit down and actually learn something about it from each other.

I would love to have a place to learn and share. It's a shame to just shoot pm's back and forth when others could be learning and adding to.

How about it?

Or, I guess we could have a teaser thread here -- Like Hirnsausen does for Evolutions!
-- that points to another site, like maybe get in with piePIEpie's site?

I use SporeMaster 2.0 beta, and i have created 7 succesfully working mods. If you want to mod yourself, i suggest to download someone other peoples mods, and open them with sporemaster, so you can see what are their continents. Thats how i learned to mod...
