The 10 parts only Captain used in Space Stage, otherwise my strategy would be chuck all the parts on and play!

My creature's natural stats:

Level 5 Jump
Level 5 Glide
Level 4 Sneak
Level 5 Sprint

As well as the ususal eyesight, graspers etc.

Combat

Level 3 Bite

Social

Level 1 Sing (Darn carnivore mouths...)
Level 4 Dance
Level 5 Charm
Level 5 Pose

As you can see, I'm not lacking in any area except Combat, which is alright considering that Combat captain parts are pretty much a neccessity anyway in GA. Combat sucks simply because I wasn't going to put any Social outfit parts on my Captain, as I was saving points for the stuff I'll be using more than twice, so all the complexity was put into natural Social parts. Meaning, I struggled loads as a Predator in creature - Thats what comes out of planning ahead for GA.

Now for the Captain parts I've chosen:

Tier 4 Shaman
Tier 3 Ecologist
Tier 1 Zealot
Tier 2 Warrior (Only to get Plasma Pulser, as the bee swarm kinda sucks)

Plasma Pulser being the only energy-based item I plan to use, I have not used any Scientist parts. In case you're wondering, I primarily chose the Shaman line of weapons for the Return Ticket ability in Space Stage. I already got Fanatical Frenzy normally in vanilla Spore, so my two favourite powers will be MINE!

In case I'm an idiot and this setup would never work, rate my Captain!

What do you want us to rate, the base (no captain parts) or the entire thing?

I would skip the one Zealot part (battle armor), since you have 3 Ecologist parts for health anyway. Better would be one Scientist part (energy regeneration) otherwise the Warrior parts are going to drain you quickly when used in battles.

Personally, I never mix using Warrior and Shaman parts on a captain. Bladed Knuckles and Poison Blade are incompatible, so only one of them can be used. That is just wasting a part.

There are no "right or wrong" parts to choose for Galactic Adventures -- it is a matter of taste and what kind of adventures that you prefer playing. But, since most involve combat, I generally go with 4 Warrior parts. I have 13 captains, by the way, with different parts combinations. They all manage to complete most adventures.

:O Safari Vacume too! It's not the greatest power, but it makes collecting organisms really quick.

The armor looks good at least. :3 It also has a synergetic effect with the regeneration parts.

Harpolizer might be handy too, but you really should be able to get through anything with your current stuff.
It really only takes five or six parts before adding more has diminishing returns.

You might find yourself sticking the claws on later, since they have an area effect. I like the look of the poison crystal more, though, and I think I'm not alone.

Well, the only Warrior weapon I'd be using would be the Pulser, and since it'd be my only energy-using equip I figured 1000 energy would be more than enough, so I went for the extra armor instead.

If you think getting the Pulser would be a waste, the only other thing I could probably use my last two points for would be the last Ecologist part and the Bard/Diplomat tier 1 to balance out my awful Sing rating...

So right now it's:

Tier 4 Shaman
Tier 4 Ecologist
Tier 1 Diplomat/Bard
Tier 1 Zealot

Looks like I'm getting another ability with this, too. Sweet.

Now just post a pic and we can see if those stats have an appealing form.

Frankly if a captain looks like a hodgepodge of parts then you have to ask yourself is it really worth it?

Yeah, that should work a bit better for you in combat -- and it fixes your Sing deficiency. I've actually encountered some "socializing" adventures that needed a good Sing power to get new crew members. At least you get something for the extra part which you wouldn't by picking the level one Warrior part.

If you ever develop another creature to be a space captain, when in cell stage hide a small herbivore mouth inside of the carnivore mouth. Then you will have a good sing ability later, plus you can eat either food in the creature stage.

Sweet, thanks Treb! I'll set to work right away.

Decided on full-level Harpolizer (Bard sing) rather than Diplomat for a massive 'nuke', so to speak. It'll slurp up my energy but I'm not using ANYTHING else that uses energy, so it all works out.

Final captain:

Tier 4 Shaman
Tier 4 Ecologist
Tier 1 Zealot
Tier 1 Bard

Overall skills:

Social
Bard/Harpolizer Sing (Inspiring Song?) Highest Level
Dance Level 4
Charm Level 5
Pose Level 5

Combat
Poison Crystal
Bee Swarm
Freezer Band (or whatever it's called)
Mind Melder

General
Jump Level 5
Flight Level 5
Sneak Level 4
Sprint Level 5
Mating Call
Graspers
Sight

Ta-da!

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm the happiest boy in the whole of England!

Have fun with your new captain -- and I won't spoil the surprise, but when I used the Bard's "harpolizer" song power the first time, I laughed so hard!! Great animation!!

You might have to use the TAB key to place that "harp" thing correctly on your captain's head. Mine looked backwards until I got it rotated just right.

You're from England? Funny, I didn't recognize the accent! Ha ha hah! Well, cheerio and pip-pip -- whatever that means.
