Holy SPORE. This is ridiculous. I hope you get yuor problem solved. The amount of hoop jumping and canned automated responses they're sending you without actually giving you any help, even when you've told them the problem 3 times now is ridiculous.

I finally got a non-automated response; as he actually used my first name.

Unfortunately, the response I got was rather aggrivating:

Truly this is customer service at it's finest.

I guess I'm phoning them tomorrow. I'm not going to be as polite now.

Total Time I've Wasted: 1 hour, 2 minutes.
Total Time I've Waited: 2 days, 11 hours, 30 minutes.
Issue Status: STILL Unresolved.

Yup, and they told me they'd send me an E-mail, or phone me back to resolve this issue.

I wish companies would just come out and say it.

"SUCK IT!
Thank you for your purchase. Have a nice day."

I'm not suprised EA is treating you like this. From what I've read, it looks like EA's a sinking ship.

Check out the comments made by EA employees on this article:

^^
This explains why EA has released so much crap lately. It sounds like the company is run by a bunch of drunk, coke snorting clowns, who haven't the slightest idea how to make a game.

I wonder if this is the reason spore turned out the way it did? you know the whole 'cutesy' flip flop they did.

I like the cutsey thing!

My issue was resolved. Please, when you get on the phone with them (they told me they wanted receipts and the copy of the back of the book with the seriel code. After speaking to my hubby, he said NO! We paid for this game, we shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be able to play an $80 game!

The second time I called back the gentleman was much nicer and tourough. At the end of our conversation he asked that I wait an hour before logging in, to give the system (theirs) some time for the change to go through.

NOW...My daughter's CD ROM has been dismantled by SecuROM because she tried to move music over from her mp3 player to CD so we could have it for our trip to California. She can't play ANY thing that requires that she use her CD Rom. Other then a total format, any other suggestions?

You can try stuff here

http://support.thetechguys.com/layout.aspx?ID=9b4ec984-404d-499d-a06e-f76e90588d89&CatID=11b32376-fce8-454e-a4f5-8f9d7694de15

Also google for info on the particular mp3 player and others that might have had similar thing happen to them.

You will not get achievements if you use the cheat console in that game.
To earn achievements you need to start a new game and not use the cheat console.

Simply get rid of SecuROM, if it means removing the game, so be it. Clearly, you can see there is something fundamentally wrong with the fact that a piece of software you did not know was installed is preventing you or your family from using the equipment you paid for and therefore own. You can find the detailed instructions here:
http://reclaimyourgame.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=40

It does look a bit scary but it's really no biggie. Command line stuff is a breeze, anyone old enough to acutally remember MS-DOS shouldn't have any problems.

BTW, any progress there Dairuka? Looking forward to reading from you (is that even a phrase?), hopefully with some good news this time. Fingers crossed over here.

maybe there's a live body you can take this up with.

Thanks for pointing that out. I found the thread: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/7128.page

I'll definitely give him a shout tomorrow, even if he was talking to someone else.

This has been brought to my attention: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/7113.page

MaxisCactus wrote:We have upped the maximum install limit to 5.

Sadly my Fourth Installation on the upstairs computer still refused to work.

So, in response I've reinstalled my copy of spore upstairs again.

Let me recap how many times I've installed Spore:

Install #1: On upstairs computer; before formatting
Install #2: On downstairs computer; before formatting
Install #3: On downstairs computer; Currently works. I am able to play it
Install #4: On upstairs computer; Never worked. It's what caused this thread to exist.
Install #5: Uninstalling Spore on the upstairs computer, just so I can reinstall it to prove a point.

That picture shows Spore no longer on my Program List, and my reinstalling progress.

I'll edit this post when I'm done reinstalling it. If it works, then the limit was clearly raised. If it doesn't, then theoretically that means that Cactus was incorrect and that no change has occurred yet.

Updated

I've now completed my Fifth installation of spore. It currently resides on my upstairs computer.

Sadly; despite a statement from a Maxis Employee in another thread. I can attest that the installation limit is not 5.

That is the error I received, yet again. I sincerely hope a Maxis Employee will notice this, and will address the issue at hand.
