1) It says "one registration available", but it also says "multiple accounts can be used for each installation of the game (p. 52). Also, as I've said before, why have the option to login or create accounts after you've run it once? If you're only allowed one account per registration, then those should be disabled, right?

And then there's the achievements: if these are things you're supposed to show that you've achieved, and someone else uses your account and unlocks them before you have a chance to, what's the point? What's so wrong with letting a household have even a limited number of accounts (say 3-5) to linked to a single installation - especially since it's on a single computer? It's not like two players will be able to "hammer" the servers simultaneously, because there's only one computer running it. This was a bad last minute choice, plain and simple.

2) No, CC and Spore are NOT completely different games - CC is a small part of Spore.

3) We won't sue, but we also won't ever buy a game from EA again.

i understand...and im not saying that it wouldnt be a good feature (it would be helpful to many families im sure)

im just surprised by peoples reactions here.

and from what ive read, the booklet isnt binding, while on the OUTSIDE of the box it clearly says only one registration per game. shouldnt people look for that before purchasing it and assuming that they can have more than one account?

Yes the manual informs the same thing. But REGISTERING software is another story. Yes we have activated our validation, we have paid and we are here. Now we're being screwed by you suck @$$ people. This is an outrage, this is at EA's fault, and EA KNOWS IT.

Fix it now!!!

Or simply explain how to access my copy of the game. Do I need another freaking PC???? I have a laptop, is EA telling me I need another copy of the game to play on my work station???

you suck @$$ people? i have nothing to do with EA/Maxis/spore...just an end user.

from what i understand, you CAN install the game on multiple computers and have a separate account for each.

It's also $50+ that we spent to play this game and we're being told we can't use it in a reasonable fashion.

i guess i dont understand what you mean by "reasonable"

it seems like people are just assuming you can have multiple accounts ( i understand it says it in the booklet, but on the outside of the package it says the opposite)

Why wouldn't it be a good feature? Do you really think the designers expected there to be 1000 users on a single computer? And aren't families a huge part of Maxis' target audience?

I don't deny the part about "one registration per game", but nothing in the manual even talks about "linking" a single Spore account to that registration.

I'm "assuming" nothing - the part about one registration (the outside of the package and p.3 of the manual) and the part about multiple Spore accounts (on p.52) refer to two different things.

I would have no problem with the issue people are having about multiple installs if rather than tying a registration to a Spore account, instead they simply tie it to an IP address or a MAC address or something else that identifies it as being run on a single computer. That way, every member of the family can use it with their individual Spore accounts, and the game isn't being pirated.

Why is everyone ignoring my intelligent post above and focusing on this silly flame war? The fact is that the game has a "CHANGE USERS" feature, and this text exists in the game menus. THIS WAS NOT A MISPRINT. We are being hoodwinked. The original game and manual were designed so that there could be multiple user accounts per copy of the game, just like the Creature Creator. But I bet some exec came along and said, oh no, we can't allow a family to share this game, it will hurt our bottome line. Which is baloney as people do not buy the same game again for every family member unless they want to play at the same time. We don't even want to play at the same time, we just want to be able to play the game AT ALL! With a game so focused on individual customization, this stone age attitude is ridiculous.

IF ONLY THEY HAD USED GAMES FOR WINDOWS - LIVE THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE AT ALL! That system is built around each user having their own profile for EVERY GAME. That means every Games for Windows Live game can be shared with the whole family, its a requirement. But no, they had to be greedy, stubborn EA who thinks they are better than Microsoft and are stuck with 10 year old ideas about how DRM and user rights should work.

FIX THIS NOW and maybe restore some semblance of decency!

^^^ NOT MY POST, QUOTED ^^^

thank you..heints... MY POST BELOW

How could it be possible for two people to play the game, using the same software disk, on two different computers?

We can't even play on the same machine, taking turns. It is not possible to access different accounts using the same serial number.

This concern needs to be addressed. I bought Creature Creator, then I bought Spore. I was promised multiple accounts per PC installation, yet it is not happening.

This can be taken into a legal matter legitimately with right cause.

PEACE!

Yea Microsoft Live works per user. If Spore were to come out on my 360 I would not have to buy the game two times for me and my daughter to play. I buy the game once, and I pay for my MS Gold, and my daughters MS Gold. The Spore account is free. The software cost, and I've paid $10 for the Creature Creator, and $50 for MY copy of Spore.

Software is intended to be accessible for multiple users per agreement - yet this Spore software is NOT. We have not one single option.

EA intends us to purchase another computer to access our FREE spore account. I already paid for the freaking software.

EA do I need to pay you more? How do I use Spore on my PC? How am I able to utilize this software on my PC?

My wife bought this for me for my birthday. She happened to be able to play it before me, and so I sit down to play, lo and behold, I can't use online features.

Low blow EA. Really low blow.

Sure you can argue semantics, but obviously, the people in charge of all the legalese and proofreading stuff initially viewed a distinction between "registration" and "accounts."

To me, one registration means you can only install it on one system, akin to a license. Multiple accounts (different words, stated we would get it in the manual) means multiple users on the same system. At least that's how I took it, until I couldn't use online and here I am on the internet.

Someone on here said they would pay. I say poppycock. Why should I have to pay for a service that was free when we purchased the game, just not for both of us?

EA once again takes something wonderful and ruins it, being more concerned with dollars and bottom lines than customer satisfaction.

I call shennanigans. Get your brooms people.

1) It says "one registration available", but it also says "multiple accounts can be used for each installation of the game (p. 52). Also, as I've said before, why have the option to login or create accounts after you've run it once? If you're only allowed one account per registration, then those should be disabled, right?

2) No, CC and Spore are NOT completely different games - CC is a small part of Spore.

1) actually, multiple users could log in from the same computer.

if a friend was over at my house and had Spore, he could make something on my computer, log in with his account, and upload it by his name.

then he could switch back to my account, and I could upload my stuff.

voila. multiple accounts from a single client.

because, in essence, Spore IS a SPOG (Single play Online Game) with mainly offline elements.

2) nope, they're spearate games. Spore DOES have a Creature Creature in the game, but the Creature Creator that was sold in stores is NOT spore.
