I have been gone from the game for a little while now and I just logged on to see what if anything was new or was planned for the future of Spore and I was shocked at what I found. Basically what I can see is that a lot of people who were avid players seemed to have dropped away from the game for what ever reason and that the makers of spore are so obsessed with expanding the brand of Spore they seem to have lost site of making the actual pc game better and ultimately they aren't to concerned with seeing it reach its full potential. I have seen numerous things about "Spore Hero" and while things like that are nice and all shouldn't you have a team of people at EA or Maxis working on each thing exclusively rather then spreading your resources thin and ignoring your player base to the point your product become stale and people begin to lose interest? I had high hope for this game from the start and when fans complained and Maxis responded with GA it seemed a gesture that validated that hope that the corporate side would invest its self in the game to make it what players wanted to play but since then those hopes have been dashed and I have serious concerns about the future of Spore and doubts about seeing it ever reach its potential. Does any one else feel at all remotely this way or is it just me?

It's not just you. It just happens that EA would rather expand to the audience of Nintendo-fans and younger children and their parents (for presents and such). Apparnetly they are also trying to make a movie.

Its nice to know I'm not alone in feeling that way. Yeah I heard about the movie and I don't see how they can do it and make it really truly related to the game experience because its a game that bases everything on customization and development over what is supposed to be large expanses of time. I mean what could you do except a history of the world knock off with aliens? I honestly wouldn't mind all the other stuff with Nintendo and the movie and all the various products like T-shirts and coffee mugs if it seemed like they were continuing to make the game better and really making progress toward what the players want. The messed up thing is the seem to be more obsessed with building a brand and making the name spore have more relevance and importance then the actual game. I just wonder now if Will left Maxis because of this attitude or if this attitude is a byproduct of his departure.
