I posted a contest on the GA forums for contest ideas(ideas being the key word). So far like 20 people have read but none have posted. I thought the spore community loved contests. Here's the link http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/44073.page
read through it and tell me if there's anything I should add to make it better.

You're really not doing any thing wrong.
Your just not a big factor in Spore yet.

I don't do GA contests, and I don't do any contests often, unless they really appeal to me.

My gut level is that you have WAY too much detail going on there. I wouldn't sit through all of it. I guess that's my low attention span for new stuff, since maybe that's all "standard" clause stuff.

It doesn't seem like a contest where you exercize a lot of creativity, rather more like a class assignment with a lot of detail.

I would think that if so much detail is required, maybe you should template out the things that you want to be common to all the adventures, and then let the creators vary what can be changed, or add the missing elements.

And maybe narrow it down. THere are a lot of stages there...

Most people are not going to get that involved in something, I guess. I'm one of the few with an open ended job that's mostly on my own time (I train horses), and I couldn't commit to something that big.

It reads like a development assignment...

FWIW.

Ashkelon is so crazy in love she could care less what ya'll are up to these days. Yeah. Sweet.

I'm not quite sure how to do that. how can I make the contest more fun. The sample was from something else originally but no one would really comment. I don't know how many acts would be for a short fun adventure, maybe three. I'm not even quite sure what to do with it. Maybe someone can help.

EDIT: I'm going to guess that even I'm into stuff like that maybe no one else is...

Hi. You must be really hot-shot I suppose to have a contest you make succeed. I made one 4 months ago (I was relatively famous back then) and I only got laughed at... granted, it was a huge fail but still if Didzo or someone made it everyone would join.

(If you really want to see it, go to my topics, you won't miss it )

I just think the whole adventure thing, if I wasn't driven by my own stories and art, sounds like .... well ... work.

I guess that's why I'm a bad one to ask. It's a hard thing to stir up enough excitement for a contest where the parameters are yours, and there are no tangible rewards, and then ask people to commit a week or more worth of work.

But that's just me. Good adventures are fun, but they are also work.

it's different for everybody, really. Whether or not you are known.

back in January-March (can't remember when) I was relatively unknown and started my first contest - it went fantastically well. But being known certainly helps make it better.

You are not doing anything wrong - perhaps give it some time, maybe?

I'm asking them to post their ideas not an actual adventure. They gotta write a little thing containing all the chapters and their ideas and stuff. It could takes less than 20 minutes for fast typists. Maybe the idea wasn't so hot....

I think you have a good idea, and maybe I don't express myself too well.

The thing is, I was a fine arts performance major, and art is work. It is recreation and community and sharing and all those other things, but it is work too.

I spend hours on my stroryboards for my creations.

I know there are people who think that because I'm totally cool with other's using my creations as starting points -- or even without changing them, that I don't spend time on them, but that's not true.

I work on them, and I think about them a lot. If they have long ears, there is a reason, and it's tied to something in their background, and it may be something that makes a huge difference in their story.

Example I have these toads, the Bufo, and like all amphibians, they have porous skin, and breath directly through the roof of their mouths. They are pharmacists and also natural and manipulative medical specialists. They have those strong, social frog hands. There are other things, they are socially competitive, and love to brag communally, sing and hang together. Things get physically very rowdy where they congregate, and while they are kind individually and to other species, they are often aggressive with each other.

That's a very simple character, and they are a bit player in some of my stories, so I guess that may illustrate it. By the time I get very deep into a story that supports an adventure, there is already a lot of thought there.

As I've said before, you are 100% welcome to use anything I make, should it be of any use to you. You don't need to worry about "credit" of any of that stuff, since the game is founded on sharing, so have at anything that works. Please.

Sorry if I'm not clear today. About 20 years ago a very large horse fell on me. She was fine, but I tore one of my glutes lengthwise and damaged some nerves. Days like today I take pain meds, and sometimes I have trouble ordering my thoughts

I wish you luck, I'd help if I could.
