Maybe they just had to cut corners. They also could have cut this out so the game wouldn't be excruciatingly long. Otherwise, I don't really know. This is a good question, maybe you can inspire EA to (re)make an expansion for something such as this?

Spore 05 was never a finished game that was going to be released to the public. Spore 05 was a CONCEPT of what they wanted Spore to be like. in many videos if you listen to what Will is saying he says "these are all a concept of what we would like to see in a finished product" i can't remember which video it was though.

It was replaced by the a cartoonie version we have now, where nothing is scale with everything else really.

EA destroyed it, and made spore to be a cutesy, childish and UN-scientific game.

another part of the unscientific, is that creatures needed to have a center of gravity, and im guessing the people at maxis felt this was limiting creativity so they removed it.

They didnt just sand down the corners, they sanded down the edges, the edge's edges and the kept going till all they had was a little sphere that is spore as we know it today. But now that sphere has been eaten by the players and so they must fill the gaps with expansions. BUT! We are now forgotten to Maxis! No recent activity from their HQ they are just making little kiddie games now and thats annoying!
