Go to Grab or whatever it is. I don't have a Mac, but my sister used it once to take a screeny.

Taking a screen shot on a Mac:

Command-Shift-3 will take a photo of the entire screen and put it in a file (usually on your desktop)
Command-Shift-4 will let you select a region, and will copy that to a file.
Command-Control-Shift-3 does whole screen to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4 does a region to the clipboard.
