Can anyone confirm or deny that Patch #2 has any effect on this bug? Are homeworlds still auto-decorating the cities and making the game crash?

I still crash leaving my home world.

Just flew around to other colonies to check and the problem seems to still center around my homeworld.

It didn't work after patch #2 (still crashed) for me from a pre-patch saved game. Although that could be the saved game. I am going to start a new space stage and see if it's affected by the same bug. For me the problem didn't start until about half-way through the space stage when I was under constant attack.

I'm hopeful that a fresh game will not crash.

It happened to me with three races. I just kept starting over. It always happens about halfway though the space stage. My current game I just ignore the home world to avoid the crashes.

Maxis should be ashamed of themselves for missing this bug again after two patches. SHAME ON YOU MAXIS!

Just another confirmation: after installing patch #2, this crash is still happening for me, as well. I have a saved game in space stage in which my home planet has called me for help. When I go there, kill the baddies and clean up the turrets, it crashes every time when I leave the planet (I have no interest in janitorial duties or other "work-arounds").

Got another creature to space stage, played for a couple of hours, and it crashed again (this time just flying around a different planet).

I'm playing on a brand new PC (Vista Ultimate 32bit / Dell XPS 720 / Intel quad core / Dual SLI nVidia graphics / 4GB RAM / blah blah blah ... ). Happy to send my DxDiag to anyone at Maxis or EA who might read this (last time I checked, I still can't submit a ticket on EA's Spore support site).

Basically, I've given up playing Spore until Maxis fixes this bug ... I love the game, but this crash is SO FRUSTRATING and it totally ruins the experience!

Guys, didn't you know? Cleaning up all the extra garbage from your cites is just another Spore mini-game! I mean, there has to be something to do while waiting for pirates or the next pest-control mission...

On a serious note, I only get this crash when an Uber Turret has been installed. Since re-loading the saved game and NOT installing an Uber Turret, I have not had a crash when leaving my Home world.

In all the times mine crashed while leaving the homeworld, I don't think I ever had an uber-turret installed there. Anyway we figured this problem out a long time ago and it's all posted in this thread, memory dumps and all, as if Maxis cared.

Obviously not; I don't pay attention to the city auto-decorating but only since Yesterday for me, the game crashes if I attempt to leave a homeworld.

What do you know about Spore? If ANYTHING AT ALL, add and edit to the Spore general knowledgebase at SporeWiki. (And yes, you can even add articles about your own creations!)

Thanks but that didn't help at all, now my game is crashing leaving any planet, mine or not. My games just crashes at any level now too. I think I have around 100 colonies, have all but two badges and surround and own the centre of the galaxy and have colonies all the way along my spiral arm. Now I can't do much at all cept fly from solar system to system. Cause I can't land on planets!
I really didn't want to test a game for a company and sort out all the bugs for them, neither should you. People get paid for testing games or they release a Beta trial, you don't pay someone to test their game!
These crashes are driving me insane and I can't get any help from EA, had 41 crashes (have files for) in 5 weeks of game play and I don't play every day. I know some of you had have no problems at all and some have had a lot worse, but I wish EA/Maxis would just fix the game properly. Most of my problems have occurred since patching, and I have already reinstalled the game twice! My post patched games would crash, so I basically started all new games. Patch two had more crashes and I reinstalled the game and the post patched game kept crashing but I kept the game this time and patched again, which help for a little while. Then the game just crashed randomly, now it crashes when zooming out. What's going on?

Do like i did and quit playing this game. I haven't played in weeks and thought (just now) I should check to see if this very specific crash problem has been addressed and to my disappointment it hasn't.

Dear Maxis,

Spore crashes when I leave my home planet. The Reason is because the game's automatic city decorating doesn't know when to stop auto-generating. It makes so many things that the extras hide underneath city hall in a giant pile that causes the game to crash.

This info was posted in this thread before patch #1, and we tried to call your attention to it when you somehow missed it. Patch #2 came out and you still failed to fix it. Now a third patch has been released and you still haven't fixed it.

Please act like professionals and add this bug to your list of things to fix in patch #4. It would probably take the least competent programmer on your team 10 minutes to fix this. Your failure to fix this bug three times should be bitterly embarrassing to you all, if you care at all about your reputations as professionals. Stop failing and start fixing, please.
