BETTER SPORE: A Campeign to Make SPORE Better!!

To me, Spore is the best game ever created, thus, it deserves to continue expanding, growing, evolving. Spore is incredible, but I was a bit disappointed when I first played the game to see that Maxis had removed many, many cell parts, and the ability to add cellular limbs. I was also very disappointed that they removed the Aquatic stage. Because of those, I struggled incredibly, to create a reasonably possible evolution. Then, I started using the out-of-game editors, and was, again, very disappointed at the lack of a plant creator. I was also realy disapointed that it wasn't anithing like the 2005 demo. So much I expected... so little I recieved. I've finally decided to create a list of what I think Spore really needs: ( = New Idea. = Normal Idea. = Important Idea. = Super-Important Idea. = Addressed)


A - Spore in General - Creators and In-game

Trait-Less Extra Stages
There should be a trate-less extra stage before EVERY stage that you can those to do or skip. (Mollecular Stage; Aquatic Stage; Hunter-Gatherer Stage; Ancient Stage; Planetary Stage.)

Dragging
The 'drag' ability should be brought back for creature stage and GA. This involves biting/grabbing onto a dead body and moving, thus dragging the body across a surface, either to hide, or to take to your nest.

Blood
Where'd the 'animated blood' go??? They say 'animated blood' on the cover, but there is no actual blood to be found! They should realy bring that back.

Plant Editors
The plant creator(s) should be brought back due to building a plant in the building creator for a GAprop is pretty hard. There should also be a fourth plant creator for carnivorous plants with more creature-like parts, aswell as a fith plant editor for sea plants, considering the aquatic stage.

Regions
There should be tundras at the poles of a planet, savanas and deserts closer to the equator, woods near the poles and forrests at the equator - this might meen having all non-used planets in the galaxy screen deleted and replaced.

Cell Parts in Creature Editor - Spopasquini
Cell parts should be acceseble in the out-of-game creature creator.

Movie Creator - SpaceOddity1998
Sure, you can press the 'V' key to take a short clip of your game, but why not be able to add efects, text, filters, sounds, music, or even freez parts of a movie? There sould be a movie editor that alows you to do those things and more... Then, you should be able to share your movie onto the Sporepedia! The movies could even randomly play on those entertainment building TVs.

Random Hits - Orange_Kirby555
If you attack something, or somthing attacks you, chance events should be able to happend. There sould also be a setting for this, like: "Never", "Rare" and "Frequent". Here are some examples:
-Missed
-Double Hit
-Triple Hit
-Hit Wrong Target
-Backfire

Voice Changer
Many people want this. I meen, come on!! A hot chick creature with a guy voice??? That's just wrong!!! You should be able to choose the gender, accent and pitch of your creature's voices.

Mod Stuff
ALL parts, featured in mods such as BetterSpore, and ALL custom creator backgrounds, featured in mods such as GoreSpore, should be brought into the editors.

Hight Clipping for All Outfitter Parts - Michal04
Many outfitter parts (eg. hats) appear to 'float' on your creature, making it look stupid. There should be a hight clipping (that cube handel that allowes you to sink in/make float a captain part) for every outfitter part, of atleast for every one with pronounced curvature.

Auto-save/share Options - XXTsaoXX
There should be a category in the options menu for this. You should be able to select in tic-off boxes when the game should auto-save (eg. After you befriend a species/destroy a tribe/finish an adventure/etc.). You should also be able to stop in-game creations from auto-sharing online and being deleted and replaced offline.

Complexity
More complexity for all editors, please!!! This would help tremendously when using Spore as an artistic tool, wich most people do.

Multiplayer Galaxy
See "Spore Multiverse" in the "Possible Expantion Packs" section for details (I'm kinda tyerd of typing right now).



B - Spore in General - Sporepedia and Out-of-game

Reseting
You should be able to reset a saved-game planet and even the entire galaxy!!!

Multiple Game Planets
You should be able to have multiple games on the same planet. This would make Spore a better story telling tool and it would also be easier to make aliances in space stage if you can have multiple alies while still on your planet.

Spore Galaxy
You should be able to access the Spore Galaxy web site directly from the galaxy screen - without Spore clossing!!!

Spore IM
There should be an in-game chat program with direct access to the Sporum (also without closing Spore) and a IM system, sorta like MXit.

Creation Online Info - Rubric
All of your creations in the Sporepedia should have a tab that opens up it's online info. Here is an example of what a creature's online traits might look like:
-Times Downloaded (this goes for all creations): 84
-Times Pollinated Into Game (this goes for all creations): 32
-Times Added to Posse: 17
-Times Extincted/Iradicated: 28
-Times Killed Player's Avatar: 14
-Times Domesticated in Tribal Stage: 9
-Times Abducted in Space Stage: 11



C - Cell Stage

Mollecular Stage
You should be able to choose between the molecular stage (like Tetris, only around an atom, not a flat surface, and with other atoms instead of cubes) and the meteor. You would be an atom that moves around with cell parts. As a single atom, you will be able to graze a heavier (larger atom) element than yourself (start as helium, the most simple element) and the larger atom will steal one of your electrons, making you a possitive ion. The reverse would happend if you graze a smaller atom. If you're a possitive ion, you will attract negative ions, that will bind with you and you will become a mullocule, but other possitive ions will be pushed away. The reverse is true for a negative ion. You can also ram another atom (possibly by double clicking) to cause a nuclear reaction, and fuse with it. If you had 3 electrons before, and the other atom had 2 electrons, you will now be a five-electroned atom, thus, you have changed your element. As soon as you bind (not fuse) with another atom, you will become a mollucule, and you will no longer be able to swap electrons nor cause a nuclear reaction. When you have enough atoms in your mollucule (maby 100 or so), you will become emino acids and finish the stage. Depending on what atom you have the most of (eg. silicon) your species will be based on that element (eg. silicon based). This stage should be a trate-less extra.

Cell Part Evolutions
The old cell parts need to be returned as evolutions of the existing ones. In the cell stage's cell editor, you should be able to click and hold a part to allow a small window to pop up with all four versions of that part - four evolutions.

Cell Part Rotation
There should be a rotation handle for cell parts to edit their angles.

Omnivoric Cells
You should be able to play as an omnivoric cell. It should start out with no mouth (because actual cells have no mouths and because the omnivouric mouth is a deadly weapon), and should be able to only absorb meat bits and liquid food (the first herbivoric food).

Epic Killer Reward
You should get a reward (say, 20 DNA) for killing an epic cell (those big things that tend to kill you with one bite).

Virusses
Viruses should be brought back in Hard setting for cell stage. Viruses would be polluted-green cloud things, that can not die, and chase your cell around. They do, however prefer to kill slower cells.

Cellular Limbs
You should be able to add limbs to your cell, that work the same way as the creature limbs. These limbs should then move in a swimming motion - just like they do in the 2005 demo. You should also be able to add parts onto them.

DUH!!!
MOUTH AND WEAPON PARTS SHOULD NOT DELETE EACH OTHER IN THE CELL CREATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



D - Creature Stage

Aquatic Stage
The aquatic stage should be returned as a new fist half of creature stage. It was removed because of 'navigation' problems. An easy solution would be to make your sea creature move with the same controls as a UFO does in a planet's atmosphere. This stage should be a trate-less extra that you can those to do.

Old Creature Parts
ALL removed creature parts (some found on the willosaur and splodey creatures) should be brought back for the sake of having more parts.

Gender
There should be two separate editors for male and female creatures. You should also be able to choose your avatar's gender. At present, your creature stage avatar is female - since it lays the egg.

Spinal Hands
Graspers should be able to be added to the front/end of the spine, like in the original version of Spore.

Advanced Creature Painting
A third creature-paint option should be added - the singular part/surface texture paint option. This involves painting a part/surface of the body, independently from the rest of the body, simply by clicking and dragging across the part of the body you want to be a certain colour and/or texture. A warning, though. Do this after you are certain that the body in complete. Otherwise, the creature's texture will glitch severely when you move or change a part.

Creature Types
There should be more types of creatures than just nest creatures and rougue creatures. There should be pride creatures that hunt in packs and have no fixed location. There sould be herd creatures that move around in herds (no duh), migrate accross the continent, and have no fixed location. Hunters[i] that have an evil looking 'bone-pile' nest and would have a pack, but each member hunts prey seperately. And finaly, [i]forrest creatures that live in and around trees in a certain wood on the planet. You should also be able to choose you creature's type in the creature creator - the default is random.

Sences
We use eyes, but we also have ears, noses and atennea. Why can't we use them? Here's a list of what parts shouls do what:
*Eyes: With: Can see (duh)
* Without: Screen very dark and blurry
* Upgrade: Nightvission
*Ears: With: Can hear (duh)
* Without: Sounds are blunt and unclear.
* Upgrade: Sounds are sharp, clear and distinquishible.
*Noses: With: Creature's sent-trails appear on the screen as fadding clouds of colour (red: carnivour; etc.)
* Without: No sent-trails are seen.
* Upgrade: Sent trails are longer.
*Antennea: With: 'Eccoes' appear on the screen, pointing in the direction of a creature.
* Without: No eccoes appear
* Upgrade: Different eccoes for diffirent types of creatures.
All sence-upgrades also make 'sneak' less efective when used by another creature (or if you use it against a creature that also has a sence upgrade).



E - Tribal Stage

Hunter-Gatherer Stage
There should be a first half called the Hunter-Getherer stage. Here, you would not yet have a hut, only a fire. Your creature has not yet invented clothing, so you can still evolve it. Your goal would be to gather ebough food to sustain a tribe, and enough material to build a hut. This stage should be a trate-less extra that you can those to do.

Steed Outfitter
There should be a Steed Outfitter for tribal stage. You would enter the tribal planner to enter this, and you'll need to have at least one species of livestock. The steed outfitter should have most (not all) of the tribal outfitter's parts, with the addition of weapon (spear rack/ crossbow/ etc.), saddle and steering parts.

FPS Toggle - Darotu
You should be able to special select (maby ctrl-click or something) a single unit and play with it GA style. This might then also be aplicable to Hunter-Gatherer stage.



F - Civ. Stage

Ancient Stage
The city stage should be brought back as a first half of cibilisation stage, only, it should be called the Ancient stage. Here, your goal would be to grow your city untill you discover electricity. This stage should be a trate-less extra that you can those to do.

Advanced City Editing
You should be able to edit and/or move your city's walls, roads, building/decoration placing circles and build outside the city walls!!!! Also, when you capture/convert/buy a city, highways should form between that city and every other city that belongs to you on that continent - following the same route a trade route would.

Gates - Darotu
You should be able to add city gates to your city entrances to defend against invasion from another nation.

Invation
To quickly capture a city, you should be able to drive a vehicle directly into a city and attack the city hall immediately without destroying the other buildings first.

FPS Toggle - Darotu
You should be able to special select (again ctrl-click or something) a citizen to play with GA style You would be able to walk around the city - even go outside the city walls - and interact with other citizens, go to an entertainment building, visit the neigbours, etc. This would also be aplicable to city and planetary stage.



G - Space Stage

Planetary Stage
There should be a Plenetary stage, where you would first fully colonise your solar-system before your race invents the inter-stellar drive (I meen, come on! What race would colonise some barren far-away planet before even visiting their own moon!!!?). Again, this stage should be a trate-less extra that you can those to do, or stick with the 'find-the-inter-stellar-drive-in-a-random-crashed-alien-ship' thing.

Captain Body Changer
This would not actually change the captain's body, but rather take the final edit of the species' body, paint it in the captain's current textures and colours, then take it into a creature tweeker-like editor. You will then be able to change the spine, limbs, add/delete/edit parts, and so on. There should also be a new part category only available in this edito and the out-of-game creature editor: The cybornetic parts. This should have all of the Grox's cybornetic parts, aswell as the Better Spore custom robot-like parts. The cyborg hand should have a mold-arrow that, when pulled, coases it to 'grow' longer and, when pulled even further, more fingers and look like a claw-armoured human hand. When this arrow is pulled on the foot, it should mold into a robotic version of a (fully extended and opened) Heeltoe. There should also be a comms.-antenna (extended - adds a mouth piece and makes it look like a really cool ear-mounted communicator), a control panel thingy (add on arm to make a cool-looking arm-mounted controll panel, or put on chest like Darth Vader's thing), and a thing resembling an arm-mounted light-saber (the beam would simply be a colour effect, not a weapon, and it would be in the colour of the creature's detail). After the edit, you can go back to the captain out fitter to add whatever. Essentially, this editor will delete the outfitter parts and allow you to change the captains body, to make him more buff, cybournetic, mutated, etc. This will allow you to make a truly unique individual.

Space Stations
Then lastly, you should be able to build space-stations in a station creator, that would float around in space, and that you and your fleet can land on!!! It should be like a colony in space, and the editor should be a fusion between the colony editor and the adventure creator. You should be able to get out of your ship, and chill with random empire's captains (from the Sporepedia). Some missions should even involve, going on and off from these stations!!!!!

Knights!!!!!
Knights appear to have been overlooked by Maxis and knight-fans are disapointed. Knights should be found in the space stage! They should have their own captain parts, own philosphy, and it should be able to change to their philosophy (likely Justice)!! Go to the knight pettition in my sig to see the details.

Space Fleets
Not that you will controll them, but I think there should be more ships in your empire than just your captains. There should be four classes of ships: The Captain Ship (your ship), Trading Vessels (they fly the trade ruites of your empire), Fihters (your empire's defenders and attackers - you can comand these), and Carries (sorta like heavily armoured and armed space stations that you can enter and attack (even destroy) planets with). You will be able to cerate these ships at a colony, the same way you create land, sea and air vehicles.



H - Galactic Adventures (Non-Space stage)

Drive
You should be able to get in and out of vehicles in GA. There should be a setting in the vehicle's behaviour for this.

More Acts!!
The curent maximum nomber of eight acts is simply just not enough for a truly epic mission, eg. a quest. More acts would alow for longer gameplay.

Bosses - Darotu
Two new features to the adventure creator would be boss creatures and cutscenes. True bosses would appear in only in acts set to be boss acts. In these acts, you (the creator) would select a specific creature(s) to be bosses and/or to fight you while you are fighting the boss. These acts will be different from regular acts, because the (main) boss creature will be centered on the camera the whole time, no matter in wich direction you captain is facing to give the feal of a true boss fight. There will also be a "fight-radius" (you set the sise) instead of awareness that your captain will not be able to exit, sort of like an invisible barrier.

Cut-Scenes - Darotu
You should be able to add a cutsnene between/before/after the act of your choosing. You will shoot the act the same way you would use the movie editor (explained somewhere above). This will make the mission alot more interesting, aswell as giving it a more story-like feal. Cut-scenes sould be place-able At the start/end of missions aswell as in-between the acts.



I - The Sporum

"Custom Smilies" Option
Beneath the "More Smilies" option, there should be another option for custom smilies and other pictures. You will upload the image to the "Custom Smilies" window, and clicking on the image will past the image code and address to your post (kinda like what happens when you click on an emoticon image). This will give you quick acces to custom smilies such as those found in the thread "Smilie Central".

"View Member Sporepage" Option
You should be able to view a Sporumer's Sporepage from a link in their profile. This will allow you to buddy your Sporum friends, anoungst other things.

Re-Voting
There sould realy be a re-voting option for a poll. This will be very usefull if a poll changes or if someone changes their mind.



Possible Expantion Packs

Spore Evolutions
Aka Evo. Evo will give you the molecular and aquatic stages, aswell as the plant editor and removed creature parts. Other cell and creature stage related ideas may also be added to this.

Spore Tribal Oddesy
Aka TO. TO will give you the hunter-gatherer and ancient stages, aswell as the steed outfitter and other ideas that may aply to the the tribal, hunter-gatherer and ancient stages.

Spore Space Ace
Aka SA. SA will give you the planetary stage, aswell as many, if not all of the space stage ideas. You will also gain the ability to play as the Grox after defeating/allying them!!!

Spore Multiverse
Aka MV. MV will probably be the most popular Spore expantion of all time. It will allow you to "switch galaxies" and take your captain into a comunity galaxy, filled with adventure planets, space stations, special area planets and ther players!!!!!! You will even be able to invite a player into your game-galaxy!! You will only be ably to play as a space captain, however.

If the Molecule Stage, Aquatic Stage, and City Stage would come back, I would like it if Molecule Stage would come first and it'll take place on that medeorite (the one we see on the cutscene before Cell Stage) then the medeorite could crash onto the water and there's Cell Stage, then Aquatic Stage could come 2nd, then that scene where we see our creature come outta the water will be after Aquatic Stage, then Creature and Tribal Stage will appear as normal then the cutscene (this is optional) for Civilization Stage could be moved to City Stage as it'll be next after Tribal, then Civilization Stage comes next, and after that is Space Stage. That's just what I think though.

Again this belongs in Feedback. PM a Sporemaster to move it. Second off, let me say that the 2005 thing wasn't a complete game. People have said that it was a interactive video and a very very early and glitchy game and other things. I am under the impression it was just a video of what Maxis hoped Spore would be and to get support for it.

Also aquatic was removed for navigation and animation issues. The reason is that it moves through a volume instead of a plane. Space stage also uses a plane type movement but it appears as a volume. Another thing is why is dragging dead bodies around that great a feature? By the time you kill an animal in current Spore, you could either be dead or just own the rest of the nest (hehe, it rhymed).

Painting individual parts on a creature would be nice but make creatures have a lot more in the way of file size, not good for someone with 15,000 creatures in his 'pedia. Also cyborg parts, although cool, wouldn't work as it would change the avatar of the creature instead of just adding on.

Some of your ideas are great, but just not pratical.

Thanks for being so positive! I forgot to post that you should also be able to choose weather to do molecular stage, or stick to the meteor. Also, city stage should be the first half of civ. stage and a hunter-gatherer thing should be a first half of tribal stage.

For the Cyborg Parts, you know the Robot Chicken that Maxis made has new parts right? (The wing's new for example.) I think they should add those in as well as the parts from Spore Creatures DS like the Lava-walking feet. I would like to see that.

Also aquatic was removed for navigation and animation issues. The reason is that it moves through a volume instead of a plane. Space stage also uses a plane type movement but it appears as a volume. Another thing is why is dragging dead bodies around that great a feature? By the time you kill an animal in current Spore, you could either be dead or just own the rest of the nest (hehe, it rhymed).

Painting individual parts on a creature would be nice but make creatures have a lot more in the way of file size, not good for someone with 15,000 creatures in his 'pedia. Also cyborg parts, although cool, wouldn't work as it would change the avatar of the creature instead of just adding on.

Some of your ideas are great, but just not pratical.
The dragging dead boddies thing was actually meant for missions in GA, but in would be interesting to be able to do it in creature stage. Also, the paint thing is extemely glitchy and hard to fix (thus the warning) so it's not very practical. Thanks for saying atleast some of them are good ideas!

Eh, not all of them are bad. Like the ones that graspers on the spine and how the cell stage should be longer. I can see now how dragging stuff would be helpful in GA. I said creature because when most people talk about dragging bodies they mean creature.
