I have a wildlife sanctuary in my home system were I was epicizing some creatures. Two of those were attacking each other last time I could check. I don't know if that was relevant but now every time I try to enter the wildlife sanctuary the game crashes to the desktop.

I can't figure out how to attach files so here is the latest crashlog:

Running on:
Windows XP home
Intel dual core E8200
2 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS (Forceware 175.16)

I'm getting a crash when I use my special ability (Carnivore) Awesome Raw. I can play without using it, no problem and I have played as a herbivore through to the space age without any problem using their special ability.

The thing is I haven't changed my computer at all: no recent updates, no additional software, no infections.

It appears to only happen when I'm at another creature's nest (well I pressed the ability in open areas and no crashes) I want to scare most of them off so I can just fight a few. It has happen every time at a nest, never worked right. Sometimes I get a full crash and other times a sound loop and freeze.

It's very strange, also getting sick of it. Anybody come across it? It does sound as if it's my computer but as mentioned above nothing has changed since I installed spore. Oh, I'm on a High Spec PC.

One thing I have remembered. I played on-line as a herbivore and currently off-line with the problems.

Thanks

Slowly getting there. . .

My Specs:

OS: XP Home edition, 2002, SP3, regional Hebrew.
Intel Pentium (R) D CPU 3.00 GHz
Memory: Ram- 2.00 GB.
Graphic card: ASUS EAH 3650, updated driver

My trouble is: Used to have the game restart my PC after some time (10 Min to 1 hour ).
Updated my driver and reduced the game quality and it stopped.
Only problem I had was the game restarting the PC after quitting.

Yesterday, during ascent from a planet, the game froze, crashed and exited to Win wuth reduced resolution and off colors, and wouldn't load ever since.

I've tried restoring the system but to no avail.

PLEASE HELP!

In my case it wasn't a corrupted stars.db but a corrupted planetRecords.pkp. Not sure how it happened but I copied planetRecords.pkp from game0.old to game0 and I was back up and running.

Note: deleting stars.db also worked but the above was my 2nd attempt to see if I get restore my db.

Never underestimate the power of a well-aimed kick.

(I Apologise if this has been stated, I haven't had time to read every post)
I can't enter space stage. I go to load the game, it loads and a second later it crashes to the desktop. In fact, the lifespan of a game that does not crash upon load is 3 days-- eg. Ill make a creature stage game, 3 days later it loads then crashes. As you can see, this means I create (And blow up/trash) alot of games. And I don't have many planets left...

I installed spore on my laptop (hp pavillion tx2000), but can't run the game. Help, I can't play my game because every time that I start it I get an error. It pops up over and over about 8 times before it finally goes away.

Whenever I try I get an error notice: CmdLineExtInstallerExe.exe. unable to locate componenet--This application has failed to start because USERENV.dll was not found. Re-installing the appication may fix the problem. After this a window pops up that says it couldn't log on to verify the game installation and says to make sure I have an internet connection (which I have).

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times. I installed it as the administrator, even set it to XP compatability mode, but have had no luck. I works fine on my XP comupter and my vista basic desktop, but would like to install it on my laptop (vista ultimate). I even made an exclusion with my Windows Firewall to all it access.

Here's the situation: I had one save, and when I got to space I pretty quickly got on the wrong side of a Spode-botherer species and had my entire puny empire slaughtered in short order, so I started up on another save to give me time to have fun while I planned what to do. I made the second save into a huge economic powerhouse with dozens of alliances and enough Purple Spice production to max out the money within half an hour being purely pacifistic, then found out I could interact with other saves, and the empires of those saves. I immediately went over and bought out all but one T0 colony of the Spode-botherer empire, and started a trade route with that last colony. I then switched over to the other save and went to see if I could conquer this hideously weak empire outright and it worked.

I conquered the system, saved and went to load the second file to scout for some purple spice planets to terraform for the first to bring it up to speed quickly, at least economically. Unfortunately, the other save wouldn't load. The first save loads fine, as do two others, but the second just freezes a few seconds after it starts loading. I've tried changing the Game0.old folder to just Game0, after backing up the original Game0 folder, but that still loads to a point after conquering the other empire, which I'm pretty much convinced is the problem.

Is there a way to fix this without wiping the second save?

I purchased the Download of Spore and waited 8 hours that it took to download via EADM. I then ran the Install and came up with an error about the Audio2 .cab NOT being what was expected... This happened several times with me Uninstalling, and re-downloading the same program. I've done all the tweaking of this and that required for this game and yet it still crashes on a regular basis. I'm running Vista Premium Service Pack 2 on a dual core (3 Gig) processor and 1 Gig of ram and a NVidia GeForce 8600 GT. After all the tweaking, I've managed to actually play the game for roughly 30 minutes before it crashes. But, before the crash, my Audio starts making oddball sounds. Therefore, I believe it comes back to the possible corrupt Audio file in my download. This is a highly entertaining game, if I can ever get it to work. It would be REAL nice if EA could deduct the price of the Download from the purchase of the Disk version of the game. I don't wish to go through another 8 hour download..already been through it three times with the same results.
An Update...I Re-Downloaded Spore onto a different computer (I guess I'm allowed up to 5?) and the Install portion went without a hitch and (so far) the game plays without any problems. Now, the second computer has a much smaller hard drive, only one CPU and runs on XP. But, I think the jist of the situation is that the Install went without a hitch. The only advantage I could see on the second computer was that it was hooked up directly to the Broadband Modem, while my computer is on the Wireless network. Somehow, my downloads get corrupted. Is there a way to copy the Downloaded installation file from the second computer to a Disk and use that to install the game on my computer?

I don't know if anyone else's crash on start-up glitch can be solved similarly, but I've found that what was causing the problem was the graphic caches, and that deleting them caused the problem to immediately go away.

We've just released a new patch. We've made some performance improvements that may fix a lot of these PC issues (Mac patch will be out soon). See http://www.spore.com/patch for details. Give it a try.

Thanks,
MaxisKane
