Okay, i don't know if this is a crashing issue or a not loading issue, but anyway:

I had spore for about two weeks, love it. But then last thursday something happened, it would load up, and i would select my world, as soon as i was in there it would crash. Then i went to different worlds, same thing, that or it would crash when you try to evolve. So i uninstalled it, and then reinstalled it and now it won't even load all the way. It is, then bam! says spre has stopped working, spore has stopped working correctly and needs to close.

"For backups, create a save directory called PackageBackup and move (not copy) all the .package files into it EXCEPT EditorSaves.package."

Make your text a little bigger. I can't read it when it's so small.

It's pretty self-explanatory. If you're going to delete your .package files, then rather than moving them to the trash, move them into a folder that you create solely for the purpose of holding these files.

Except "EditorSaves.package".

Like the man said.

Hello again;

It has now been 2 weeks since I have been able to play the game! I cannot leave the home planet without the game freezing! I will be returning the game if this is not resolved soon! Why release a game with this many problems? Very annoying! I did post another comment a week ago and have not had a response.

If I change my Cell creature at all at that time, the game crashes and closes to the desktop. If I make no modifications to the Cell until I reach the beginning of the Creature phase proper, it will work. I'm puzzled; why is this happening?

This is the exact thing that is happening to me too. I try to modify the cell and the game music starts skipping then the game freezes and closes on me. I didn't know I could just skip the modifications until creature phase. But still, I wish there was a fix for this.

Mine is similar in problem. Except that mine ONLY freezes when I try to give my tribe clothing. If I avoid this step then the game progresses as normal. I can add buildings and wage war and the like but I cannot do cloths? Whats going on? Any Ideas?

I missed this thread and posted this somewhere else by mistake, so here it is again.

I wrote:This is a freeze/lockup/crash, but one that can't be easily tested/repeated by me, as aside from crossing your fingers and waiting forever, you'd really need to be able to force game events to see it.

I uplifted a species near me, very soon after getting the "they have reached the space stage" message I hop over to their homeworld. I decided I was going to wipe them out because I didn't care for their philosophy. Rather than see it be a complete waste I decided I'd create an alliance with them, then a trade route (for those stats) then wipe them out.

They only had three cities on their homeworld. I drop an antimatter bomb on the first, and then the second. Not until destroying the second do I get the "they might start shooting back" and "they're losing interest in your alliance" messages. While on my way to the third I get the "an unknown fleet is attacking your allies" popup, but I ignore it thinking I'll take care of it right after destroying the last city.

I drop a third antimatter bomb on the third city, and right as the white flash comes up it freezes. (Visually, but the sound repeats.) I'm thinking "great, it crashed", and then I notice that the popup was about a fleet attacking the ally and planet that I was just trying to wipe out.

The screen went black before I could check the minimap, so I'm not sure if I was the "unknown attackers", or if a second fleet just happened to come along during my attack. Either way it was an odd confluence of events and not something I could really repeat to see if it crashed again.

I have a laptop with Windows Vista. Spore has been working fine for about a month, then suddenly, when I open it, a little black screen with a cursor pops up, and nothing happens.
Please help!

Okay, this should be good for a laugh.

I have been playing Spore for weeks now with only a single crash issue. For some unknown reason every time I click the Quit Spore button at the main menu, the game crashes to desktop. I cracked me up the first time it happened because I've learned from my brother (who knows these things) that this kind of crash is supposed to be very serious but because you were done with the game anyway the fact that it crashed on exit is a moot point. i mean you wanted the game to close, right? I wish I was making this up.

On another note the zooming out of homeworld crash is the result of an overloaded graphics cache on planet. (seriously, that's what I was told) The thing is that your homeworld should have anywhere between eight and fourteen cities on it depending on your difficulty setting and how long it took you complete the civ phase. As you progress through the space phase, the game is programmed to automatically embellish your cities with those useless little decorations. Also, the more developed your cities are, the more hardpoints there will be for these things. Apparently, when every hardpoint in every city is filled, something magical happens and the game crashes.

The stopgap solution is to simply sell each and every decoration on your homeworld to free up the graphics resources. You'll have to do this every once in a while, (about every two days for me) depending on the size of your empire, who you're at war with, how close you are to the center, and how developed you want your homeworld to be.

Hope that clears a few things up. And if we're very, very good this christmas, maybe maxis will find and fix this problem so we don't have to mow the lawn every time our spaceships come home.

OK this game is really giving me the SPORE ay, my problem, like many other people is that when i try run the game the screen goes black like it is about to launch, then it just goes back to the desktop saying spore shut down yadda yadda yadda. it does this every time, except once.
you know how it makes those exception files or whatever and it says this
[Instruction data]
00c0931f => DasmX86Dll.dll not found.
i thought that this was the problem so a DL that file and put it in my system 32 folder and ran spore and it opened, played the intro and got to the picture of the galaxy and then froze. i then shut the game down with task manager and back to not launching at all.
i have tried a great many things. like deleting the package files, replacing certain dll. i've updated both my video drivers and directx. tried downloading a few cracks but nothing has made a difference since that fateful time when i got the DasmX86Dll.dll. aw i thought i was so close.
well these are my specs
intel core 2 duo 2.something ghz
1 GB of memory
Fx7600 GT

I have a suggestion for the good people at EA.
hheehem TRY MAKING GAMES THAT WORK
seriously i havnt had this much trouble to play a game sinse the days of Elderscrolls Oblivion. now that was a crash machine if ever i saw one, spore comes close though.

for everyone who is still looking for solutions, thankyou. for the people who have fixed it, im so jealous im going to have to throw a brick at someone
