CarlSagan1942, I never posted a hate filled message or berated anyone. I am trying to prevent unnecessary anger and hostility. Getting frustrated with a game and laying blame on something is not a solution. Posting rants does nothing likewise.

I believe I stopped posting in this thread because I had spoken my mind on the issue and settled a disagreement a few pages back. I care about Spore a great deal, yet claiming the company that made the game had lied to its customers does nothing beneficial and only causes unrest. The better solution is to post new ideas that will make Spore better in the many topics petitioning for new expansions.

Most importantly, I take any case where one berates or makes claims against another user as an insult.

Finally, I would not consider Spore as a ruined game. It is a game that is only as fun as one's own imagination. The game aspect of Spore is completely free form, and I am free to dream up any type of story when playing. Thus, Spore contains endless potential without restriction, unlike the many other 'superior' games out today with set storylines. Though that is my own opinion as a writer, and as such, you do not need to agree with me.

Edit: Allow me make a few things clear, I am not trying to prevent people from sharing constructive criticism. I merely wish to prevent conflicts and hostile posts directed at others. Further, I am only trying to express my own view on the topic, and I agree that Spore is lacking a great deal. I would like, however, to give a possible solution to the problem, rather than say the game is a failure and leave it at that.

It seems as though your posts are to stir a revolution up against EA (The Czars) to build a army from the Forum of those who play Spore (Red Army) which against EA's company (White Army) to obtain some type of benefit (Russia -> Communism).

Just decided to post these comparisons, it was amusing to come up with them after all.

There was another article on the artstechnica site you posted that I found interesting though off-topc.. yet relevant.

EA is suffering some major PR problems. The company has enjoyed plenty of positive coverage over games like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge, and it has announced deals with talent like Grasshopper Manufacture, ID software, and Epic that have made its portfolio even more impressive. But the invasive and controversial DRM included in Spore and the upcoming Red Alert 3 is causing some gamers to swear off the company's work entirely. Unfortunately, the politics of piracy prevention are now hurting both EA and the gamers that want to support quality titles, and it doesn't look like there will be a happy resolution in the near future.

The part in bold .. is horrible. Why doesn't EA JUST FREAKING LISTEN! RULE #1: Keep the Customer HAPPY.

Because that would cost them money, and EA is an enormous business, Enormous Businesses can easily shrug off consumer complaints.

He's probably been blacklisted from the entire Gaming industry. He didn't leave, his colleagues hated him to death, so they very reluctantly gave him spore as his last project, and they fired him without a second thought.

Really, could we just lock this topic? I don't normally advocate for such things but spode almighty, how whiny does "The Great Lies" sound? It's like some massive rage-filled conspiracy theory, all over just a game and a bunch of tech demos.

I think leaving it open would be the wiser choice. Unless you want to see new topics pop up, of course.

Actually this much isn't a conspiracy theory. I forget where exactly I read it (It wasan interview in a magazine) but the CEo of EA said they would be continuing with their plans to include SecureROM/DRM measures/EADM on all games for the foreseeable future, and passed off those who protested against SecureROM as being pirates (Gee thanks EA, I'm a pirate because I bought your game. The pirates never complained about SecureROM... they just bypassed it)

Indeed.

I thought it died of hunger by now. No one to feed on anymore.
