Downraters - Can someone answer me something?

Can someone PLEASE answer me where's the problem with this adventure?

The people who accomplished it, LOVED it

but some people are failing and downrating it and they don't have the guts to comment where's the problem so I can fix it.

I'm in safe mode right now, so I can't. But I'll be restarting to play GA in a few minutes, so I'll test it then and see if there are any bugs.

Edit: What's the name so I can search ingame?

I failed and loved it! its because you hid the goals they don't like it. People want their eyes opened fro them.

Oh, you're in Rythmear's thing. Don't worry, that contest will get you a good set of plays and rates. I reckon 20 plays and Orange is better than 1 play and Green.

EDIT: Well, I just managed to play your mission (but because of my game consistently glitching it took 20 Minutes to download, so be honoured

) and it is spectacular. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's a BIG contender for the title in my opinion. However, I can see reasons why it would be downrated:

1) Hidden Goals: I love them myself, and they are VERY important, but the same people who uprate C&S missions downrate anything which requires actual thought. Most of the hidden goals are logically flagged in the dialogue, but there were one or two that were a tiny bit of a stretch (I'm nitpicking, but if you don't talk to that guy who's name eludes me before you climb the tower it will break your chances of winning because you get locked at the top of the tower)

2) Inside Jokes: The twist is AMAZINGLY original and captivating, but your average non contest player won't get it.

These two things you won't be able to change. HOWEVER, you just have to make sure you advertise well.

Who gives a crap about ratings? Just go off comments for how well-recieved it is.

Well, it'd be nice if a decent creation would get proper recognition by appearing in the MPN list. MPN appearances can really help a budding creator pick up new subscribers, if people rate stuff down it never get's MPN air time.

Like you i tend to value positive feedback more than ratings now as it's basicllya crapshoot with people downrating if they lose, but downrating does hurt creators with few susbcribers quite badly so it needs to be addressed

i'm afraid that downrating hasn't left the sporum after the release of the expansion pack, in fact it's become worse because of the ease in wich downrates can give into the evil desires of their cold dark hearts. the fact is that people who love the adventure, take the time to go to it's sporecard to rate it up. most people who downrate it now wouldent before simply because they can't be botherd to go to the sporecard.

One thing that annoys me is that it's very easy to rate the adventure because your prompted at the end but to add comments you need to do a bit more legwork.

It would be so much better if you could add comments straight after completing an adventure.

Also while I'm here could anyone try my adventure it's had 8 plays and is currently not well rated but without comments I can't learn what the problem is. How can I improve as an adventure creator without feedback?

And that's EXACTLY my problem! If they want to downrate, that's ok! Downrate it! But at LEAST tell me where is the problem

(Maybe it's a joke! Since the problem is about hidden goals, they're giving me hidden comments! LOL

It's hard to suggest improvements for ratings because there are TONS of topics about it. But I think that Maxis should make the Adventure rating system something like that:

1. You can only downrate IF you made to 100% (to prevent people that plays 2 seconds and downrate it)

2. OR you can downrate it if less than X people finished the adventure! - This will allow us to downrate 'impossible' adventures

3. AND IF you do downrate it, you MUST comment.

I think that's very important because... Sometimes you make a cool adventure that requires more than following map pinpoints and spamming buttons...
And people that are there just for the points or don't even know why they're there (like those that loves the ESC button on dialogues) downrate you.

Of course, that's just my opinion.
I have only 49 subscribers... Downrates really hurt me
