Don't constrain yourself to Spore logic. Go all out on it, and make it look as good as you possibly could. You are, after all, making a species for yourself.

The main point of this post, however, was to state that my app is nearing completion. Be prepared for epic(fail)!

Description: Approximately 5'6" (1.68 m) tall, generally around 200 pounds (90.71 kg) - Generally very peaceful, but when they fight they fight hard.
History: Non-sentient era
The Balnaan were evolved very fast, from being a cellular organism to a sentient species in less than ten billion years. No scientists can figure out what a Balnaan would have looked like in any stage of evolution. They can speculate, but for now the galaxy will have to wait for specifics.
Tribal era
The Balnaan were very social in the tribal stage of evolution. They were occasionally attacked by other tribes however, and often had to frantically give gifts, according to ancient tribal drawings. Sometimes, though, it would simply come to war. It is from these tribal wars that the Balnaan learned to wage war.
Civilization era
After only a hundred million years, the Balnaan were feeling the need for more. So they started mining every precious mineral they could think of, and after a few hundred years there was a global economy going. Then they learned how to harness certain ones of these minerals, the most important being iron. Iron was used more extensively in the development of the Balnaan than any other known species. This is because the Balnaan never actually had a stone age. They went straight from building with tree trunks to bars of steel. Some buildings have been preserved from this era, and one can go to see a building made of wood with steel supports.

The Balnaan soon began to war with each other. The nation that would eventually become the Balnaan Empire preferred to convert opposing cities' citizens, causing riots. The other nations began to war as well, and soon planet Bawania was a ball of chaos. One nation launched an ICBM, and then in response, another made secret deals with high-ranking officials, and for years it went on this way, until the main nation broadcast a worldwide signal stating that the Balnaan needed to band together or they would destroy each other.
Space age
During the Space age, the Balnaan began to expand quickly, colonizing planets all over their space, especially ones that had blue, green, pink, or purple spice. They were also fortunate enough to find themselves near some other empires with rare spices. Thus, many trade routes were established and the Balnaan were not only able to get rare spices, but also sell their native red spice to other empires for much better prices, as they often had none.

For a long time they stayed with 6 colonies in 5 star systems, but then they found that they could not make enough money to support everything off of only 5 systems, so they once again began to expand like mad. Currently they are at over 30 systems, and counting. They had a war with the Xhoruss empire, defeating them, but then other empires began to demand exorbitant amounts of money. The Empire was forced to pay, as their fleet was very weak at this point in time. This prompted the Balnaan to begin to build up their fleets. Almost the entire homeworld and first colony were covered in cities, going into mass production of ships.
Epic War Involvement: Not finished yet, but the Balnaan fleet runs into a gigantic mass of Warlord fleets, being soundly defeated by the combined fleet of the Warlords, sending the Balnaan running home and seeking help. They find the peacekeepers and their request to join the faction is currently pending.
Culture: Young Balnaan, including females, are trained in the ways of honor, as well as normal subjects such as mathematics, sciences, and reading. After age 7 (10 in Balnaan years), they receive reduced school time in favor of combat training. The typical adult Balnaan serves in the military, but approximately 45% of Balnaan work in the factories to make new items for both the military and the Empire in general.
Military: The Balnaan empire is heavily reliant on the fleet to guard colonies, space stations, and other important locations. The Balnaan Army and Marines are made up of heavily trained soldiers, reliable for everything from sniping to hand-to-hand combat. The Marines especially are regarded as some of the best hand-to-hand fighters in the galaxy.
107th Marine Division
One particular division, the 107th, stood out in performance during the Balnaan World War, and ever since, only the best and most talented fighters have been picked there. Being picked for the 107th Marine Division is considered a bigger honor than almost any other award anyone can earn. The Balnaan prefers to fight in space, with battles taking place between fleets. The Army and Marines prefer to get in close, as hand-to-hand combat is the Balnaan's strong point and almost everyone else's weakest. However, they are slightly less than average at ranged combat.

As I said previously, the adventure is still on the way but should soon be done.
