Awesome ship, although I don't really follow the Star Wars spin-offs. So I guess my browser just hates me, because I can never drag anything. If I want to download a creation I have to save it to my desktop. But I might not make a sporecast anyway. One of the reasons I wanted to was so I could play a creature-stage game with all of them, but when I tried using an existing sporecast as a "theme" for a game, the game just used whatever creatures it pleased, including Maxis creations.

She's actually my own design useing some Star Wars recognizable shape arrangments. Except for the Infiltrator, Sith fleet ships look out of place and unbelievably bulky.

Days ago I learned that this issue will close.
It's sad to end something so positive. At least, this gave some life to the forum.

I also understand the position of the creators of this subject, nothing is eternal. But it remains a sad decision.

On the subject of the contest was an excellent idea. Here we have also discovered many good things.

Just finished looking at all the contest entries in the editors. Great job everyone. It wasn't easy picking my top three favorites but I have forwarded those to Ansje.

Dino589 - Some amazing screen shots there. I agree, thats the most complex AI I've ever seen in a GA. It always scared me to try more than 2 or 3 commands because the results could get so unpredictable. Although I won't be on Spore as often as I have in the past. I'll still be checking in now & then. Please let me know when you release your Morrison Formation GA. I'd really like to play that.

Thaiylia - Those are some great looking ships I really like that mat black color. Makes them look like their built from carbon fiber.

Triop5 - Sorry to hear that you still haven't gotten your browser to drag & drop into a sporecast. Have you tried a different browser?

ArdTree - Thanks for the kind words. it wasn't an easy decision to bring this thread to a close. As I've said before, I hope others will carry on the tradition once this thread closes.

Gerbilcrab - Nice to know you are still active in Spore.

Scorpio - Yep, the contest closed last night at midnight. Sorry you missed it. Ansje should be announcing the winners soon.

I can't help looking over this thread and feeling vaguely depressed. I know none of you have ever heard of me, and I haven't played spore much, but this just seems like the last breath for the game.

The game offered so much and could have been so perfect had EA actually not swept it under the rug. I am just getting into creating stuff and the fact that I will be doing this to an empty room is a little bit disheartening.

I guess I missed the party. Here's hoping to Spore 2.

@ DarkTrogdor: welcome to our topic, even though we are on our final days. Yes, it's sad that players who did not have much opportunity yet to play the game never can enjoy it like it used to be. There have been rumours once about a Spore 2, but these are from before DarkSpore and they had nothing to do with EA at all. Later it appeared to be only rumours, there is no chance on a Spore 2. EA/Maxis are working on SimCity, the successor of SimCity4, that will be released in 2013.

Soon after the announcement of the winners this topic will be unstickied and locked to make place for new ideas of a new generation. Grindstone with the help of other young folks intends to start the Sporeformation as a kind of successor of the Sporenaissance, so stay tuned for that.

Little update about the judging: all votes are in, as soon as Techno has shared the trophees, I will announce the winners. Please allow some time for that, we have to cope with time differences.

@ Ansje , darwinken and Techno605

what can I say....I feel so humbled and sad at the same time.

Thanks at first for picking both my creations as the winner!
But I can tell you, this contest was the only one it was never a matter of winning it, it was because I count you as my friends on this game and I was really happy to find such nice people through this game.

Which makes me still sad to see this come to an end, at least on this place.
I don't think Spore will ever be the same for me even though I'll stick.
I will still support contests with entries as I believe without it, this will be soon a dead place.
I know there are people out there who wish us adults gone, but as I have my kid playing this game as well and with those trolls still messing with them, I don't have much of a chance and stick as long as he plays this game.

I'm happy that the folks I care about have moved to deviantArt and you can see many awesome stuff made by them, not just Spore related! So they won't be gone for me. They just moved to the West
That was the picture I had in mind when I made my first contest entry.
The second one, well, that's just throughout me, I love to look through our telescope and see the stars, nebulas and galaxies and makes me wish, that some day maybe Star Trek is not just science fiction.

okay ladies and gentlemen, I'm done with my speech
I'll take this last trophy in my trophy case and they will have always a special place in my heart and mind!
Congrats to all the other winners as well!
There were really awesome entries in this last contest of the Sporenaissance, that's what they deserved!

This will probably be my last post to this thread. So I'll use it to say thanks and goodbye.

Congrats to the winners of the Age of Discovery Contest and a big thanks to all those who submitted entries. It really was a pleasure to see all of them.

Techno - Awesome trophies as usual.

Thank to all who have contributed to the success of this thread. It has been heartwarming to see that there is still life in this old game. The only regret I have is that I didn't have more time to contribute / comment here.

MadeEyeJude - Thanks for all the kind words. It's folks like you who make Spore the wonderful game / social networking tool that it is.

Good luck to Grindstone & others who will carry on the tradition of the Sporenaissance in the Sporeformation. I'll drop by from time to time to see how things are progressing.

A big thanks to all the Core Sporenaissance contributors. Even though many of them couldn't be involved on a daily basis they all contributed in some way to it's creation & success. Among these, special thanks to Slartibartfast whose idea it was to create this place.

I can't give enough praise to GrandPeep and Ansje who really made this venture a success with their daily contributions. Peep's picks were a real highlight of my day and Ansje, was just always there to comment to and answer peoples questions. Thank you both so much.

All - Good bye & Good luck

<sighs>
Well, this seems to the end of the Sporenaissance. I have had a great time being involved with this thread, seen some great creations and greater creators, It'll be sad to see this place go. I hope that, with the closing of this thread another Sporenaissance-like thread shows up, or at least I find a place to share my creations with others and give advice and meet other creators. Although, it will never be quite the same to me as this is, or rather was.

Anyways, I guess this is goodbye, I hope to see all of you elsewhere on Spore or the Spore Forums, although I'm not usually on these forums anymore. But, if you want to contact me or anything, you can PM me here at the forums, or drop a comment on one of my creations.

Well, I hope to see you all around, so bye for now.

Meee1 signing off.

Well, thanks for everyone who was a part of the Sporenaissance. It was one of the best times in the history of the Sporum, #2 to the Golden Age of back before EAxis quit on us. If you're staying on this half-sunk ship of a forum, then please join the Respormation.

Well, I'm officially going [/Thread]. Vale.
