Not quite. Sauropodomorpha's placement is uncertain. Most scientists today place it within Saurischia, but it used to be placed in Ornithischia. There are good reasons for either placement, and no one's really clear on where they go just yet.

Aren't Eoraptor and Panphagia clearly transitional forms between basal dinosaurs and sauropods? And isn't Pisanosaurus a pretty good model of a basal ornithischian? I suppose it's possible that Eoraptor and Pisanosaurus have a closer common ancestor with each other than with Eodromaeus, but pending the cartilage study results, I can't imagine how we could figure that out. I'm guessing silesaurs are involved, though.

To have the study done properly, it's best to work with a larger array of specimens. I haven't personally read studies comparing basal dinosaurs, but my understanding is scientists are still constantly finding new basal dinosaurs that reform the way they envisioned things developing. Every time they think they've nearly got it, an earlier fossil pops up that throws them for a loop. But I imagine since basal fossils are easier to find now, or at least found more frequently now, and since paleontology and phylogeny have improved so much in the last few decades, we'll have an answer most scientists will agree upon probably within the next decade.

Seems like some feathers have been ruffled by a new paper on bird ancestry, which nests Troodon, Dromaeosaurus, Unenlagia and Anchiornis as members of progressively narrower clades including modern birds. It also found Scansoriopters to be hovering near the base of Coelurosauria. This flies in the face of most earlier research, so I won't be surprised if other paleontologists try to shoot down this new theory.

Have I used enough bad puns yet?

Hey guys, got some new Unity stuff to show you. First, here's my current progress on my project Predator/Prey, where I'm trying to make a game that simulates late Cretaceous Mongolia. So far I have a Velociraptor that wanders around, and a Gallimimus that hides from it at a white cube, and eats at the green cube:

And here's a bunch of animations that the Velociraptor will eventually use:

that looks great tklarenb

I was in a creating funk for some time here but I've found my creativity again. I've been remaking my dinosaurs to be more realistic .

Troodon

Therizinosaurus

Segnosaurus

dienonychus

I've been working on a Tyrannosaurus Rex head in blender. I will give a picture of it when I get on blender with bandicam on.

Will we let the fossil turn into a fossil, or should we revive it with SCIENCE?

Well the thread was silent since March, so I just figured no one would post. Little did I know simply posting an "RIP" message would spur some activity. I hope this isn't short lived.

That may have gone awry in the end, but at least it looked like fun.
