Hi all,

I just forwarded my picks to BDG42 after looking at every entry in the editor. I'm a bit short of time today so I won't go into much detail. However, I did leave comments on every entry. I hope they all went through since I was posting in-game & often got the 'Spore server problem' message.

In general let me say that you guys & gals did another fantastic job with both your creations & descriptions. Also, the competitors were very well matched making choosing a winner in each category not an easy task. I'm sorry that GerbilCrab, Meee1 and Grindstone didn't have the time to get their entries in. Hope to see them in the next round though.

Oh, hi. Thanks for the comments on my entires. I guess that you do that to all the entries when it's judging time.

Bah Humbug

I've been really busy. the deadline was for today, anyway. I have to go now, but here.

I was grounded from playing on the computer until today. Sorry guys. But I did manage to make this guy.
Name: Riech (reach)

Description:These sturdy shrubs grow on mountain sides and help prevent mountain side erosion. They spread by having the winds carry their pollen and seeds from mountain to mountain. Small flying animals use them for great nesting locations.

I was wondering if I could be able to compete in round four. Is that okay?

I was a bit busy the last 2 days but will do my judging now. Stay tuned....

I see that Grindstone & GerbilCrab have submitted entries. My understanding is that these are overdue. Nonetheless I'll update my pick list to BDG42 to incorporate these. I'll leave it up to BDG to decide if they are eligible or not.

I've been out for most of the weekend. I'll review the entries in-game one more time and give judgment.

As for the two late entries, I'll allow them, but the judges will need to weigh their tardiness into their evaluations.

Judging on Round 3: Mountain/Cave

Rules for this one, must have 6 limbs no more no less.
This rules was a challenge for most as it was not clear for all at first.

I did check every creature in the editor for judging.
Also sorry for being so late in judging but I'm really busy with setting up an upcoming contest starting on Oct. 1st.
However I did my best.

Niche Predator: Xoblth vs. DragonKal

Xoblth:
extraordinary head design of your wyvern! I also liked the organe paint, made it really an eyecatcher. It has also a great description, I especially like the explanation of the different ways of eating, rocks and prey.

DragonKal:
There were actually 3 different version of your creature even tough there's just one posted in the Sporecast. I think BDG42 has overlooked the other 2. Maybe because you forgot the tags. I loved the way you used the weapon parts on your creature, it was truly a unique design. It has also a great description.

I should have taken your creation sooner apart DragonKal. In this case I'd have seen your creations doesn't have enough limbs! But it was mentions more than once for this round, so you could've checked for yourself. Even though I loved your entry, the only winner can be Xoblth.

Niche Parasite: Triop5 vs Scrylonsis13

Triop5:
a very believable design of your parasite, both the adult and the larvae version. It has also a fitting paint and a really disturbing description. Especially the description is fantastic, you gave this gruesome creation a lot of thought.

Scrylonsis13:

Your creation had a very good pose and paint. You made a parasite infected humanoid which could easily go as an UBD style creation. It really was sick looking and great built! You also gave your description a lot of thought and it was horrific what happens to an infected creature, I wouldn't want to get in contact with this parasite.

oh wow, you seem to love it to give me a hard challenge to judge this contest. This was so close, it was almost impossible to chose the winner. Triop5 won, because I thought he did the more believable version. Scrylonsis13 yours was really amazing too, maybe you should try out the UBD style!

Niche Scavenger: Terridax vs. Cuniculosa

You had to rebuilt your first entry because ít had too much limbs. I was really impressed by the first version and even though you had to change it slightly this is really an awesome creature! I also like the description with the background story about the Erbek and how they want to use them as a weapon. Very creative!

Cuniculosa:

Also a flawless creation! I like how you posed all limbs and the face details and body structre are very good! A must see in the editor to really appreciate it! You can see your great skills in the creature editor here. I also like the description of how they're adapted to the ecosystem and how the different body parts work.

Oh my, this was hard. I love both of them! Terridax your creature is awesome and your description one of the best of this round. What it did for me was that Cuniculosa's creature showed a bit more skills in the editor. A really amazing built of face and body!

Niche Forager: Zennsa vs. Northe/Southe

Your Holpex creature is really one weird thing lol. This is meant as a compliment! The long limbs and the head are funny and I like how made your description to fit your creature. You explain why it had the knurls on the head etc. very creative!

Southe:

Nice compact built of your Merx creature. I like the well placed details on feet, back and head.
Especially the horns on the head look good. The description could have been a bit more though.

This round goes to Zennsa because I like how the description fits to your weird Forager! Southe, yours was good as well, but I know you can do much better in the editor!

Niche Grazer: Gaara1200 vs. chantal71

Your grazer looked like a 6 legs goat to me. I like the cute looking face with grass in its mouth. The paint looks good as well.

Great built of the adult and the juvenile form of your Spore Worm. A very simple yet clever solution for the 6 limbs limit too. It doesn't have an eyecatcher paint but it fits very well for the environment they're living. I also like your creative description of its eco-system.

The Spore Worm was a very simple structured creature with only a few details. However they were well placed and the overall creation fits with your good description. Gaara1200, yours was cute and the idea was great too. You really should try to move around your details a bit more on the back. Make them turn around, resize, just play with it a bit more. I can see an improvement already, don't be dissapointed for not winning this round.

Niche Autotrophs: dinolizard12753 vs. GerbilCrab475

You made a lot of variations of your weeping evergreen plant, however the only one who could be judged is the seed as all other variations don't fit the 6 limb rules. The grown plants however were great built and I liked it's colours. The seed is very simple in structure but I like the explanation for it.

You came very late with your Riech/SPORE plant. It is smoothly built yet simple in structure as well. The description is a bit short. The problem I have with this creation is, I'm not sure if it fits the rules: The limb extensions you made as roots and how they branch out could count as more than 6 limbs as the body itself has 2 limbs as well. I'll leave it up to BDG42 how he wants to see this go conform with the rules.

awesome work on your Horned Vit creature. It has a very good paint which is not easy with the exo limbs. I also like the head and wings design and your description.

great use of the early part mouth on your Chiraag creature! It has a very simple body structure but all the parts are well placed. I also like the neon yellow parts on the back, it gives the paint a nice touch. The best however is the paint on the head, it looks like there could be eyes if they develop a bit more in the evolution. Nice description as well.

a close match as well as I liked both! EagleStar98 won this for me because I liked the head very much and the paint on it!

to be honest here: the winner would have been Fatalyze as I absolutely loved the creature and the description. But his Mireon doesn't fit the rules. To grindstone: That doesn't mean your creation isn't great, but I can see how pressed you are with time as it's lacking a bit of something unique and of course, you already know it, the description.

Oh, thats disappointing. from what i read, i thought the six-limb rule is based on actual limb extremities, not limb parts. i thought since my creatures only have six legs, they fit the rules... :(

EDIT: but wait, dont my Mireon Alpha and Mireon Queen still fit the rules? they do not have tails, and the only extra limb-parts on them are not extremities, but rather non-extremity details. this quote from BDG42 says that those types of limbs are accepted:
