Please reset your graphic and capture settings to the default settings before installing patch 4. This is a precautionary step to avoid the run time error that some players are experiencing after getting the patch.

Please post here if you do take these steps before installing, but still get the error after you get patch 4.

Important: Starting the game for the first time after installing patch 4 may take considerably longer than usual. Do not quit out during this process, as early termination may be associated with the run time errors some users are experiencing.

MaxisCatcus, is there a way to uninstall this patch without uninstalling the entire game?

Can I download the patch while in windowed mode as being the only "non-default" setting?

I downloaded the patch about 30 min. ago and it says something about failure to apply the patch. Could i please get a response to how to fix this
I would really like to play the expansion tomarrow

THANKS! I really wish I had known about this sooner. I thought patches were supposed to fix bugs. Now my game doesn't work at all after reinstalling and I bet all my save games are gone! So much for collecting all those badges!

Yep, I had to wipe my saved games. GREAT!

So I reinstalled and now creepy and cute refuses to install and gives me an error.

I got it working. I had to uninstall spore, then install creepy and cute. Then it asked me to uninstall it even though it wasnt installed. Then I had to install spore again, patch it again (for the 4th time now) and then install C&C. Now all of the creations ive spent months getting and my saved games are destroyed. I had virtually every badge. I backed them up but apparently they were corrupted.

I only have one question, should I install GA or the patch first? Please PM this too.

GA requires 1.04, which comes on the disc if you do not wish to download and install it tonight.

But if 1.04 comes with GA, won't it break the game like it's done for dozens of other people? Or is it safe, and their games were just too far along to update (or whatever) 'cause I'm going to get GA, but I really don't want to have to reinstall Spore again, I just spent ALL of today installing Spore because I had problems..

is there anyway to de-install the patch without de-installing spore?

Also without wrecking everyhting, too... Does GA REALLY need 1.04? And if it does, is there some way to guarantee it'll work and not wreck my wasted day today from trying to mess with my game to get it to work

Maxis fix this problem.....All i can say is that im appalled that this patch has screwed up so many peoples games....Me for one cannot open my saved info...its there but i cant open it and when i play on planets BAD_DATA comes up!!! FIX PLZ
