I see a new problem arising. We all know that slarti and foto, and other top creators are going to seize the #1 and or #2 spots for themselves. They're both great can't blame them. Now that leaves 1 or 2 spots left. The competition for those 2 spots is going to be intense. I can see people mass downrating each other to get to that #4 spot. They haven't solved anything they've made it worse. And having something that tells you who downrated won't solve much. They can just make an alternate account with no creations.. When the mpn had multiple pages there were still down rate wars and such, but there was room for everyone to share. The best would hold the first few, the growing starts would hold the next few, and so on.

Let's try to ignore Slarti and people's stuff. I'm serious, it's kind of stupid seeing them rule the MPN again and again. Wait for their fad to be over, or pull out something to crush them.

And I suppose you will do so? They're both good creators, it's not like they're putting crap up there.

Quality doesnt matter. You cant 'crush' them.

Well, I imagine something with a large amount of visual appeal could move up there with one of the superhero things up there.

I was happy to see the MPN was back.. but... what you're saying is that it's only 1-4 showing on the first page? That's rediculous! Maxis have completely ruined the first page All they could of done is add a new Widget or what ever they are called rather than completely remodel the page and anger what appears to be so many people.

The trick is not to care. Its just a popularity contest. As long as you are pleased with the quality of your creations, you'll be happy, and others will enjoy it too. I used to mass advertise my creations on the forums in a feeble attempt to get them on the MPL. Yesterday I shared a pixel spaceship version of a Spore smiley (not official one, see smiley central), hardly advertised at all, and its been quickly rising the MPL to #13 at the moment. Am I happy its up there? yes. Did I go crazy to get it up there? no. Would I still have been happy with it if it hadn't gotten on the MPL? definitely. When you stop comparing yourself to others, all sorts of metaphorical doors open up.

Oh well. I guess this way less people will be concentrated on what everyone else thinks and can finally start creating for themselves.

Guess that's all true, but you know there is always gonna be the group of people who really want the fame, and shall ruin it for others just to get it. I was just thinking the same; let's ignore it and get back to enjoying the game, not fame, but I can't help but feel how much I want to become more popular since I gained my first 100 Subscribers, and I'm sure many people must agree that they've been through the same thing.

This started off as a game, then people wanted fame and nothing else. Now their best chances have been taken away many people are angered by it. And what do we get of it? Mass-downrating. It's good for us to feel proud of our own creations, but we'll always feel even the slightest bit affected by this...

What are you talking about exactly? Before they changed the home page the Most Popular New list was in the Sporepedia and the top 4 was on the home page. When they changed the home page they took the top 4 off of it. Now they have put the top 4 back onto the home page.

The Most Popular New list never left the Sporepedia. You're acting like it's the end of the world and nothing has really changed. They just put it back the way it was.

All of you people in this thread have good points. It's just, I know Hollow(my bro) to be a phenominal creator(if you've seen his stuff, he should be up there more the slarti IMO). And his stuff never reaches the same level, nor does he have enough subs for people to consider him one of the best. It kind of infuriates me, as he's never gotten number 1 for me then about an hour before one of Goatface's things took the MPN from him. People like him are all over the place, better than the so called top creators but unnoticed because of all slarti and foto's fanboys. It's not right, nor is it fair, for slarti to keep a constant hold on the MPN. I believe that them ruling the MPN just needs to end, it's not right for this to happen the way it does.

The most important person to please is yourself. But it's even better for others to know and love you.
