Uninstall the game, reinstall then run the v1 patch manually.

I've tried installing patch 2 at least 5 or 6 times. 1st time from the download and the rest from my HD and I to have invisible ecodisaster creatures and enemy space ships and always crash when leaving my home planet and those started after patch 1 so I hope patch 2 fixes that but it doesn't sound like it.
I have a screen shot of the error but don't know how to attach it here?
the error is "old version of file not found"

If you guys have problems with the patch, you should most likely post in this thread. I bet they are more willing to look in there then in here.

If you are interested, PM me and I will explain. Thank you.

1. Direct downloaded and installed the 1.02 patch over 1.01 and a Game0 folder that was a "new game" trying to clear 1.01 problems. This game0 was in space stage but had very little in it. My Orig. Game 0 quite far into game and had a lot of activity going on. I have a backup copy of it.

2. Ran the 1.02 patch install (took 3 minutes to complete patch) without any problems

3. was able to start and run spore (offline and fullscreen). This was using "new game" Game0 folder.

4. Replaced the "new game" Game0 folder with my backup of the Game0 folder that was made during my 1.00 and 1.01 play.

5. Started 1.02 play using the backup of Game0 and played for about 10 minutes. Had not experienced any lag and graphics were looking like they loaded faster during battle or ship regeneration. Then CRASHED to Desktop.

I will restart Comp and try play again. Will update with results here in this post.

Well rebooted and went back into game.

Home planet was under attack. So went there killed the baddies and decided to zoom out and back in to pick up spice.

When I zoomed out - black screen and then CTD.

I had only been in game less than 2 minutes.

There has been talk of corrupt saved games. If this is a possibility I am willing to try methods to clean them up but if the solution is to start over and loose all time spent to get where I am now with the strong possibility of only having the same problems again - NO THANKS.

There are better things to spend my time on.

If you want to know what I have done to-date use search to find "BigDaddyBadAss" posts.

I lost all my achievements. I don't know if this is patch related, but it needs to be fixed.

Otherwise I'm not buying an EA product again. I'm tired of glitches and bugs.

Ok, I just got a new crash after patching the 2nd version. Zooming down onto a wildlife preserve. Never happened before.

How much RAM do you have?

That is plenty.

Can you reduce the memory usage that your graphics card uses to see if that makes a difference?

I'll try it out and see. It hadn't crashed for about an hour of gameplay until I hit the Wildlife preserve, so maybe it was a memory issue with my card.

So when is the CD check going to be patched out? It seems kinda redundant due to how it's set up. I have the galactic edition so I have to take it out of the case and then open the box every time I want to play it.

Really? That's odd, mine plays without using the disc at all, and I have the Galactic Edition.

I also play Galactic Edition with no disk in the machine.
