There is a way around having to put the Galactic Adventures DVD in each time you wish to play.

If you have activated your Galactic Adventuers DVD (which will have been activated as long as you also have the EA Download Manager installed and had it logged on), then you can contact EA Tech Support to have them activate an electronic version of it for you to download. Once they activate the electronic version, it will show up in your EA Download Manager. Then, you can uninstall your Galactic Adventures installation (that you installed from the DVD) and then download and install of the electronic version that now appears in the EA Download Manager instead (don't worry, you won't lose any progress you have made).

you could also go get a NO CD crack.. all the online stuff works it just says "hey run the game from the hard drive instead of the disk" and to the best of my knowledge it aint illegal to have a No CD Crack of ANY game.

Note: I'm not talking about downloads but the "recombing splines", "splicing retroviruses", type loading screen. It repeats comments several times on some loads.

2 reasons. Some of the adventures can be upwards of 5K of data and its ALL gotta be downloaded before you play. the download just says to your game "HEY GET THESE FILES" when you play the first time or edit it the first time, thats when the game actually gets the files and incorperates them into the game. second, the game itself is quick in its runnings because of the fact it boots all the background junk first. (I.E. the codes which make the creatures move, talk, attack, run, the effects, the music, etc..)a lot of that stuff dont run until you need it. and you NEED it in the editors.

Is there a way around this?

I want to be able to create a realistic-looking bridge that vehicles can actually drive over. And, ideally, that boats can float under (which is also a problem with bridges). I do NOT want to change the terrain to create a section that vehicles can drive over normally. I want a bridge, with water flowing underneath, that vehicles can drive over. I don't want to try and disguise some terrain as a bridge. For one thing, I don't think you can make it rise above water then. Would like to know if there is a way that I'm missing.

you're not missing anything.. its a problem with the UI of the vehicles and creatures.. they wont walk on buildings. best solution? umm.. try those wierd gate things,, CTRL +CLick to drag em higher, then tab to rotate them vertically.. other than that.. i dont know.. but ya... you cant do it with buildings....

Bathney wrote:Thank you to all who have provided answers to my many questions - y'all are very helpful!

I do have another question - I think I have seen this posed in a thread but I've been searching for the entire day and can't seem to find it again - tried searching with no luck (sometimes I read so much I forget where I've read it!) So, when I play regular spore - in the space stage - I keep getting missions that are from GA - even when I get the mission from a friendly planet - they send me to a flagged planet - like I have said, I'm not the best player and I end up dying on each of these missions... my question is this - are there any regular type missions left in the space stage that aren't GA? I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place (although I guess it's kind of GA related)

thank you everyone who responds to all the questions by everyone - it is so nice to see folks helping each other out

YES YES YES!! if you want ONLY REGULAR MISSION! use your spore launcher instead of Spore GA. Otherwise, for Spore GA, you need to beat the starter flagged missions before you can get back to any of the regulars.. AND NOTE THIS!! ALL THINGS YOU DO IN REGULAR SPORE, YA! THEY CARRY OVER TO GA! lol Go Maxis.. one of the few things they did the smart way..

zyborg wrote:I have a few quick questions. A) How can I get two armies to fight each other? I set their AI to Wander + Attack [Opposing Army members], with them both on No Team, and they just stand around, not attacking each other.

B) How do I get 2 epics to kill each other, yet not take forever or have it possible for a captain to easily kill them? I can get them to fight, but then it takes forever for one of them to die unless I set their HP to a level low enough that my captain can kill them anyways.

C) I'm having trouble with the "creation download failed" error when trying to play the Robot Chicken adventures. How do I fix that, or at least find a way to play the adventure, perhaps with other creatures/buildings/etc?

OK for the armies and Epics to fight each other, simply make them 2 different teams, ie Blue and Red, then make them aggressive and have them wander.(make sure no allies of yours are in their way..) For the quick epic fight, set the damage bonus under the behaviors tab to a higher number. (FYI, the behaviors is a small button in the top right hand corner of every creature, vehicle, building, etc. image box) as for the Robot chicken thing, try redownloading.. all i can tell you on that one.. sorry..

In the beginning, points won't start out higher than 15 for any adventure, so you will have to have some players finish it first to get any more points. Besides, playing the mission in GA isn't about the points themselves but the adventure as a whole.

And if all you care is about are the points, you can just as well go down to the arcade and score them old-school, where you might also attract a small audience to praise your glory of geekdom.

You're not seriously promoting a no cd crack in the official Spore forums are you?

Besides, there's no need for that. And, even if you did this instead, you would have problems the next time an official update patch was released.

My Maxis-Made Missions are with this problems :

The Mission of Mr. Enigma is in water.

The Missions Delicate Negotiations and the others missions are with mountains, holes and valleys , for example, the mission Delicate Negotiations, the village is in a deep hole.

Does Maxis can solve these problems?

Every time I click to play an adventure not made by me or maxis, Spore says "Downloading Creation" or something like that. Then it says "Creation download failed" I can't play any of the missions I downloaded! Why is this?

Please, just call me "Cost"

I just want to point out something for mac laptop users.

If you want to change the size of a creature, building, etc. and your laptop has a touchpad, you can change the size without the use of a mousewheel.
This is how it works:

step 1) first click on the thing you want to change the size of.

step 2) hold down the shift button

step 3) to make things bigger, continue to hold down the shift button and drag your thumb and index finger to the center of the touchpad (pretend youre pinching the pad) repeat this until you get the size you want.

to make things smaller, continue to hold the shift button and press your thumb and index finger in the center, then drag your tumb and finger outward (like the pinching before, but go backwards). repeat this until you get the size you want.

I looked for this answer everywhere and could not find it. It took me a week to figure it out
This might have been pointed out already, but since I could not find it I decided to point it out anyway.

when we create a new level, it won't let us Test or save the level. it keeps saying "You have to have a Captain and place the Captain in a valid area"..something like that.
we think we are choosing a Captain for the level, but i find it hard to know for sure that the creature is a Captain. has anyone else seen this message come up? what are we doing wrong?
many thanks.

The creature on the bottom right is the captain and to stop the message from coming up just place him somewhere on the map by dragging him [please note that where you put him is where you start in the actual adventure]

Thanks, David8472. I forgot to reply that that part and mention that it IS illegal to use a No-CD crack if you do NOT actually own a legal copy of the game.

Plus, as I also did mention, there's no need since you can download an electronic version of it after contacting EA Tech Support.

Besides, using a No-CD crack runs the risk of possibly infecting your machine (depending on where you got the crack from), and you'd need to find another crack every time a new official patch comes out. With the electronic download version of Galactic Adventures, you'll always be able to install the latest patch without worry.

I'm just sort of suprised EA didn't delete the post suggesting a No-CD crack. Most gaming sites would have. Guess EA doesn't look that closely at these forums. Even if you have a legal copy of the game, suggesting a No-CD crack still promotes the idea of using one even if you don't have a legal copy of the game.

Anyhow, once again, here are the steps to getting the electronic version of Galactic Adventures if you have gotten the DVD version instead:

1. If you have activated your Galactic Adventuers DVD (which will have been activated as long as you also have the EA Download Manager installed and had it logged on), then you can contact EA Tech Support to have them activate an electronic version of it for you to download and install instead (don't worry, you won't lose any progress or creations you have made).

2. Once they activate the electronic version, it will show up in your EA Download Manager (EADM).

3. Then, you can uninstall your Galactic Adventures installation (that you installed from the DVD) and then download and install of the electronic version that now appears in the EA Download Manager instead.

There is no extra cost of having to buy another electronic download version of the game. You just need to first install the DVD version and activate it, or just activate the code (if you haven't installed the game) through the EA Activation Site, or by first entering the code through the EA Activation Tab in the EA Download Manager. Regardless, you will need the EA Download Manager installed to download and install the electronic version of the game.

NOTE: When you contact EA Tech Support, make sure you are clear and that they understand you have the DVD Version (activated it) and that you now want to have the electronic version activated so you can play without the DVD. Otherwise, you might just get a contact back from someone stating something like, "we're sorry, but the game was designed to need to be in the drive for you to play."

Again, no extra cost to do this and you won't lose any progress or creations etc.
