As I stated before I want a planet with Black Jack and hookers... And Avril Lavigne... That would fullfil my scientific desire...

Discworlds I'd love to see, but cubic planets is just ridiculous in and of itself.

RE: We don't know whats out there, physicists can't even explain gravity, and other similar topics;

We have found other planets outside our solar system. In fact most of them have been discovered since Hubble's assistance, and they haven't been just as the planets have passed their solar prime. One of the biggest observed planet that hit the news not too recently was Gliese 581 c, and for the (I believe) six weeks it was observed, it was not in direct solar eclipse between us and Gliese.

Along with that, scientists have been studying planetary formation for decades. The way gravity affects the solar dust particles to form a planet~ it would take nothing short of a miracle to form anything that would resemble a cube and still have a consistency to form a body mass. Physicists may not be able to explain how gravity works, but they can say that gravity has no intermittent variable. You can't jump up at one point on earth and have gravity effect you differently than another point on earth (aside from underwater, where gravity is an inconstant, but you cannot base a cube world through water because water would be the solid form that must adhere to the laws of gravity, shy of a miracle's intervention). Granted there is that small chance that something could happen to the water after it built a cubed seabed, like total evaporation... but that is such an improbability that you'd have to do something like divide by zero to reach that conclusion.

In short, sure... cubic worlds are about as scientifically possible as raising the dead.

Meh, doesnt bother me. I kinda view the Spore universe to be similar to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, which is rife with oddities. If I find anything I don't like in my galaxy, then I typically purify it with religious furvor. This is the beauty of Spore, is it not? I am free to mold my galaxy as I wish, just may take some time is all...

Loving every minute of it!

Welcome to my Galaxy...

Cubic planet could be only possible if a lifeform formed it that way...

If the physics on the spore cubic planet is correct then we will get an effect like this..

The effects of gravity are well known. The CAUSE of gravity is still under speculation. Personally, I like the theory that gravity is caused by extradimensional seepage. More traditional physicists still subscribe to the graviton theory.

So while the cause is still under investigation (and is well beyond your average Joe-on-the-street), it's proven that gravity causes celestial objects to compact into the most efficient shape: a sphere.

A cubical planet would be an entirely artificial construct but it's nothing the universe can't handle. From a planet-side perspective, the corners of the cube would simply be very high mountains.

And why aren't I complaining? Because cubical planets full of plushie creatures supports my theory that Spore is an on-line kid's game like those advertised on Disney Channel.

If that happened, I'd cheat and make it named Halo, then populate it with flood.

Oh come on now. We all know that most six-year-olds would have bored of this game by now, and Disney is smarter than that.

Well, i kind of feel sorry for Maxis.

True, the cube planets seem unrealistic , but it is something new, and inserted by Maxis to try and enhance the space stage. At least they are making a move and adding content.

And so far there are people complaining left and right about how unrealistic and how impossible these planets could exist. Give it a rest people, it isn't exactly gamebreaking in any way, and you can ignore them if you just can't seem to accept their existence. For me, it's just like a small suprise to be found in a universe as large as SPORE's

1. Good targets for planet busting.
2. Can we get a decent company to make a spore knockoff the way that Spore should have been? Stardock, we need you.

As I said in the other threads - I'd be fine with a Discworld, a Ringworld, Unicron, all as random one-off easter eggs like Earth, but seriously - cube planets? It's just bollocks.

I think the official Maxis sentiment on the legitimate possibility of cubes planets is "God could create one if he wanted to."

It's kind of interesting watching this game accumulate more and more fail as time goes by. Maxis used to be a gaming icon, now they're a friggin' joke.

Patch the patch!
