Some form of infrared/nightvision/sonar type vision. If we choose not to use eyes and thus are granted only a small radius of 'vision', why not other forms of sensory perception?
If that's possible, some form of deeper creature customisation in different forms, too. Perhaps instead of the DNA-bar, buying bigger brains as the 2005 'demo' showed. Same for hearts/stomachs... enabling new abilities with the brain, perhaps, larger stomachs reducing frequency of feeding, etc.

Deeper contact with civilisations/tribes once in the Space Stage?

And pretty much what everyone else said, especially the separate evolution pathway/next stage button, and the ability to leave one's ship in a more creature-stage like form than the holographic scout.

After you buy a part, buying another gives you no stat advantage in creature phase
since using a part multiple times allows for moe creativity, after the first part of a type you place on the creatures, the next ones are either free, or much cheaper. this wouldn't impact the gameplay but would free the player to doa a lot more with their creature.

*The music editor should not ONLY be larger, but it should actually be available in various staves and cleffs, with note locations and length notations that actual musicians can understand.

As a songwriter myself, I was thrilled to see an in-game composer, and then just as deflated to discover it would take me hours of tweaking in a user-hostile interface to achieve something I could do in just seconds in any basic music editor.

*The creature stage would be far more interesting if you had to "purchase" your brain upgrades at the cost of a couple-hundred DNA points. This would make evolution a choice varying depending on circumstances and user preferences.

*The tribal stage would be far more interesting if (like Age of Empires or Empire Earth) your first consideration was not only GATHERING food, but developing autonomous ways to gather food. Spore as a whole could have been so much deeper if the leap to "civilzation" came with the invention of the farm. Any form of tech tree, even a basic one, would have been more interesting than just "conquer" or "ally" 5 other tribes. There's no reason that element has to be removed, but at least for an expansion, obtaining technology to make gathering easier would be so much more interesting and true to life.

EXAMPLE:

Each of the following would be objects purchasable by spending food. But after their purchase, they increase the generation of food gathered.
Fishing boat: 50 Food
Tilling Cart: 200 Food
Farm: 500 Food

Then once you hit a landmark, like 5,000 food, you either "buy" advancement (see the note about the creature brain above) or it is given to you automatically.

*In space stage, first contact should be rare and special. Not automatic and everywhere. A mostly-empty galaxy would still have THOUSANDS of other empires and wouldn't feel quite so cramped and crowded. You've taken all the mystery out of space if everywhere we go, someone else has already been there.

*Sporepedia needs much better search and sort options, including wildcards, booleans, sortable categories, like: Sort planets according to distance from current location, sort planets by color of spice, sort planets by Terrascore...and sort by multiple columns in order of priority like Excel. Currently, looking for something the Sporepedia is about as effective as tossing a shuffled deck out on the table and then looking from card to card to find what I want.

*More in-game control of viewing any sporepedia entry, not just see the card for a few seconds on first scan and it disappears.

*Customizable controls, like users who wish to invert the Y axis or alter their movement keys.

*A hologram which walks on water. (It's a hologram. Doesn't sink or shrink when wet.)

*A way to explore planets at the creature level in the creature engine even when we're in Space phase. There's no point to wildlife planets, customized architecture, galactic zoos, terraforming planets with spectacular views (such as certain binary or gas giant combinations) all have NO POINT if you can't explore that planet at eye level.

*Flora editor (yes again)

*Missions in other phases

*Generational / versions tracking of alterations to creations made by other users to credit the original creator and every person who tweaked it since

*More than one musical composer. Brian Eno has done a FANTASTIC job, but he's still just one composer with his own flavor. Blizzard employed DOZENS of composers (all terrific) for World of Warcraft, which takes place on just one world with the same races and animals repeated over and over. Spore is supposed to offer an infinite number of worlds and possibilities. Why just one composer?

*Don't auto share every little unpainted hut I hurriedly constructed just to keep on playing. Specified sharing creates a SHOWCASE environment where people put their best work forward. Autosharing creates a FLOODED environment where every alteration presents repeated creations ad naseum for no discernable reason. This lowers the average quality of every creation viewed.

*Respawning is too easy in creature / cell / space and too difficult in tribal / civ. Why such a wide discrepancy?

*There are MAXIS creations I want to ban. What egotistical maniac at MAXIS thought I would like every plant and creature they made? And no, I don't need to ban the Grox. But a game about customizing everything my way should let me ban even them (if I wanted), or at least the plants that look like eyeballs. Ugh.

*More versions of cut scenes would make progressing multiple times a bit more interesting. Even just 3 versions of each would lend a spirit of diversity to this game...about infinite diversity.

*Hundreds of creatures in creature phase. Just 9 creatures per planet in space phase? Why?

*Multiple species in tribe phase. Just one tribal species per planet in space phase? Why?

*Can I zoom out more in cell phase?

*Just 12 parts? EVER?

*Better mechanic for socializing in Tribal/Creature phase than "Simon Says" that a 3-year-old could solve. I have a degree in philosophy, and I thought evolving a galactic empire the social route would be more stimulating than that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Says Game for “most often children”. Category: Children’s games.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_(game) LOWEST difficulty: 8 tones in succession to remember and repeat. SPORE: Highest difficulty -- still just one "tone" (social or instrument) at a time before Response.

*In civ/space phase, if other empires can demand a financial tribute, why can't I?

*In civ/space phase, if other empires can insist I drop a trade route, why can't I ask them to?

*In civ/space phase, if other empires can ask for my help with uprisings, attacks, and eco disasters, why can't I ask them to?

*In space phase, if I'm the hero, the theme of the game should match "Everything you can do, I can do better", not "everything you can do, I can do 1/4th of but only by intense micromanagement."

*We invented warp drive. How about we invent taxes? And shipping? My spaceship ought to be more than just an interoffice envelope.

*Save more than 50 uses of sculpting. Truly, if I'm allowed to customize my own galaxy, infinite uses of this device should be saved for every planet.

*Introduce a way to shop for more than one Colony Incredi-Pak / Weapon etc than by traveling from planet to planet. It's not "challenging", just tedious.

*Introduce a way to unite the galaxy by trade, force, or diplomacy. This would necessitate a way to broker treaties between warring nations.

*Introduce truly interesting planets, or at minimum ways for us to make them. Trantor, Capitol, Coruscant, Dune/Arrakis? There are no planets like these and no way for us to make them, much less Kamino (all water/rainstorms), and other more interesting places.

*Introduce mini-games or subplots based on the creation, discovery, or management of story planets from centuries of science fiction.

*Millions of races, only about 8 simulated languages? Including tonality? All my tribes sound the same. All my commercial civilizations sound the same. One more voice per expansion pack will add up nicely. Here are a few ideas for voice sounds:

Clicks
Scratches
Skitters
Harmonized instruments (always two tones playing when this race speaks)
Pops
Static
Squeals
Beeps
Whistles
Fizzles
Grunts

Let us customize them.

*One or more minigames based on Close Encounters of the Third Kind for meet-and-greet civilized species

*One or more minigames based on E.T. for meet-and-greet civilized species

*A way to walk through cities

*6 tribal members were enough for me to conquer the world, but I abducted 99 sentient tribe members and dropped them on another T3 world and all they did was die. Introduce one or more minigames based on the plot(s) of Star Trek: Insurrection -- sentient species being transplanted to another world.

*Multiple types of tanks/boats/planes per world. We have the editors and the sporepedia. Let us go nuts. A whole world full of WW2 planes on one planet, but not just ONE type of WW2 plane. And the next planet over, we can make all the cars look like something out of the Matrix. Why so static? How many cars and tanks does Earth have? Just 3 or 4 types per colony would be a huge improvement.

*Introduce one or more minigames to create a federation of multiple empires, with options to govern. This would necessitate multiple ways to settle disputes.

*Introduce one or more minigames based on the inclusion of multiple races in my colonies or empire. Taking over a planet doesn't mean I genocide what's already there. The decision to do so or not to do so adds depth.

*Introduce one or more minigames based on taming great beasts with relationship to the planet, such as the Worms of Arrakis.

*Introduce one or more minigames based on a Galactic Civil War, or secession, or building a Galactic Senate like the political streams in Star Wars.

*Introduce one or more minigames based on the development / deployment / sentience of Artificial Intelligence. Robot editor: Perfect expansion.

*Introduce one or more social minigames like those in The Sims at the Tribal and Civ level(s).

*Cockpit view. Need I say more? At least on the planetary view if not in space.

I want a reason to spend more than an hour in the Cell/Creature/Tribe/Civ stage. It seems that after spending an hour in the first four stages, there is nothing left to do in them but play with the creator and pursue achievements. That's not much of a sandbox.

I want my design to affect gameplay beyond stats.

I want consistent evolution across stages and a consistent game economy.

I want a cultural and technological evolution beside the biological component.

I want the Creature stage to play more like the game "Creatures".

I want the Tribe stage to play more like "The Sims" meets "Settlers".

I want the Civilization stage to play more like "Sim City" meets, well, "Civilization".

Sporepedia only:

- When I enter the Sporepedia, it should select 'My Creations' as a default.
- Some sort of Folder or Backup system, so I can sort my creations more efficiently.
- I would like to be able to thank people for their comments on my creations.
- If I add a buddy, I would like to see more interaction. A text/voicechat could become available, if both users agree. Makes your buddy more of a buddy.
- I find myself Alt-Tabbing a great deal, so in-game access to Spore.com and my Online Profile would be nice.

EDIT: Added some suggestions.

- The in-game Sporepedia that features everything you've encoutered in your current game should display more information. The species should show the same infotab I get when I hover over the Smiley while playing. The planets should show their T-score, inhabitants, Spice color and number of colonies

My species has learned to travel through space and has even reached enlightenment at the center of the galaxy, but, we have yet to master the power of the spreadsheet!?!

Space Stage should have a few pop up screens that detail information about my empire.

Colony Screen: this should give a basic spreadsheet listing of all my colonies including information about the planet name, the system name, the Tscore, the total production rate, any special colony enhancements present (uber turret, bio stabilizer, happy booster, etc), current spice available for pick up, total storage space, spice color, any events occuring on the colony (pirate attack, eco disaster, Grox, alien invasion, etc).

Visited Systems (galactic sporepedia): this should show me an overview of my claimed systems and systems which I have been to which are unclaimed and which planets are available, which have colonies, which don't have colonies, which are zoo planets, the T score, the spice color, which have animals in creature phase, tribal stage, civ stage, etc. This should also include all blackholes and if they are mapped or unmapped.

Diplomacy Screen: this should list every other empire I have encountered already, their name, the systems they own (that I have traveled to or know about), if I have placed an embassy with them, what my standing is with them, if they are allied, if I have trade routes with them, if they have an outstanding missions or events and where those events are located. I should also have the ability to contact these empires through this screen. perhaps such long range communication could be an unlockable tool for my ship. this would be great for when the Whatsit empire is loosing interest in our alliance but I have no friggin clue where they are at!

I should have the ability to auto travel to any of the systems I have in my galatic-sporepedia. the ship could start to jump from one planet to the other within range in the shortest distance possible. this would be of great benefit in order to find that one planet in my system that I want to make into a zoo world but can't remember where it is at.

We also need the ability to put out beacons which would act like markers that are always visible from any zoom level. this will allow us to mark a system or black hole that we can explore right now but want to come back to later. we should have any number of these and be able to give them names and descriptions. we should also have a beacon pop up menu which tells us about all of our beacons, what system they are in, the name, the description, and an auto travel feature to the beacon.

and of course all of the above pop up spreadsheets should be fully searchable, filterable, and sortable in any way shape or form that a normal spreadsheet can be.

while we are at it, the on line sporepedia should also be searchable and filterable and sortable, because the current sporepeida is...dang...just really really bad and the search and sort functions just do not work at all.

What i would like to see on Spore is, An simultaneous online play so i can play with my friends.

What i think it will look like is maybe on civilization mode we can ally with other players online.

Same thing goes with the creature stage. I think that the space stage would be so cool if Spore was Online with other players. But have the online play on different phases though. If there were to be civilization, space, and creature online in one planet i bet you that to many people would just sit around in spaceships and kill all the creatures who start out in the planet.

So if you would please take this into concideration, That would be awesome

I posted this in another thread but I will add it here as well-

Here is a simple improvement that could be added to creature editor.

When you place a eye in the center of you creature they have made a different model for the 'cyclopes' look, but when you have a limb placed in the center of your creature the feet and hands are just a right or left model. I find this looks awkward and rather stupid at times, so I often end up using the hoof or suction cup feet to avoid this.

It would be nice if they would provide a center version of all the hands and feet like they have for the eyes.

I haven't had much time to play sadly, so I've only made it to unlocking Tribal stage.

With that in mind I would like more creature options:

* Proper neck pieces, making the creation of multiple heads easier. Helloooooo Hydra!
* Tails. I would love to have tails that move, even if they add no stat bonus
* More mouth options, I find it odd that there are no lizard/reptilian mouth options for herbivores
* The ability to unlock more "exotic" food types, such as rocks/minerals, or even energy like electricity
* Heads, to aid in the creation of more human looking species
* A mammal/beast looking foot option to add jump
* A kind of torso "template" that makes the body look more like our own, and adds auto-snap points for legs, arms, and heads. As much as I love my weird and far out critters, I'd also like to be able to easily make a species you might find on Star Trek every once in a while.

That's all I got for now.

4 people in my household have Spore. (yes we all bought it )

We all agree that the early stage of the game where you evolve is the best part.

It would be nice to see this expanded a great deal.
In fact, two people here stop playing at the space stage and start over.

Even if it was a seperate game I would buy it just for the evolution fun.

I think this thread is a waste of peoples time . All we are doing is giving EA a christmas list of things to charge use 20$ for

My suggestion to you is to make the game you want to play. EA is a big company with lots of interests. And if you've ever worked for a large corporation, you would understand this readily.

I'm hoping they realize a LOT of people expected an evolution game out of Spore, instead of what they ended up putting out.

Most people that I've seen comment prefer the early portions of the game (cell and creature) over the later portions of the game.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but as annoyed as I would be to have to buy the game in portions, I would have preferred buying a more filled out creation/evolution game, and have the option to buy, or not to buy, the Civ/Space portions of the game as an expansion.

This would have given them some more time to work it all together, in my opinion.

Did Spore ever return? No, it never returned.

I thought that was the main idea, we already realize that anything added in is going to be thru a buyable expansion, or the like, so we are listing what we want to see in those expansions. That's betterthen leaving what we get to only chance, so with this thread we are hoping that someone out there of some importance is reading it and thinks, 'Thats a good idea'.

It annoying I know, having to deal with this type of setup, but money does make the world go round, why should Gaming companies operate differently?

So on to More Thoughts:

Creature/Tribal/Civ:

I am sure we have all seen the static items, like the meteor, the crashed ship, Giant Skeleton, so How about making finding them worth something? When I first found the ship I kept waiting for something to happen by it. Or in Tribal, I sent all my Tribe to stand in the Crop Circle, again nothing happened. Was a bit dissapointing, hopefully they can add some sort of event or something from one or more of these things. Imagine getting a random mutation from exposure to the crashed ship's exposed core? Just a thought.

Tribal:
How about an explaination of what happens to your Allied tribal races when you evolve to Civ Mode. If they are sentient as well, do they just die off, or do you blend them into your society? They just vanish...

Creature:
How about finding a sentient tribe while still a creature? Make them the 1st tribe you would then encounter in Tribal. Guess the same could go for tribal, perhaps you are a form of life that is catching up to an eairler one, and you have to defeat them to move on, making you the new superior form of life.

Space:
How about a diplomacy screen for non-space faring races. Maybe a tribe would worship you as a god and offer gifts of the spice you tell them to collect, so you dont need to help them evolve. The Monolith is nice, but all it does is make another space race to attack my other allies and make me have to choose between them....

Here are some features I'd suggest being added.

No Phase in General
  • Machinima Mode - Perhaps some sort of command line command? It allows you to pick a planet you wish to have it take place, insert creatures (suited or unsuited) and set their stats (how much health? Is he an epic?) and control them like you would in Tribal mode. Except you are able to emote and attack anyone you feel. Also the selection ring doesn't show up after recorded.

  • Ability to turn off that annoying beige color that is on mostly everything - I hate it, allow us to deactivate that on specific parts.

  • Space Phase

  • Lets leave the ship! - Everyone in every science fiction has got to leave their universal flying object sometime, I don't think spore should be exempt from this. Also landing, I reckon you should be able to land and leave your ship, as long as it meets these conditions:
    - The planet your on is above T0.
    - The area is not near any creatures.
And during this, you act like you would in the creature phase.

  • Space Constructs - No doubt creatures would eventually build a space station, or some sort of comet mining structure. But the creatures in Spore have not done this yet, there's a good suggestion.

  • Where is my huge fleet? - So what your saying is my fleet is compiled of other aliens? Maybe my creature just doesn't want to do that... perhaps they are racist? Oh and your creatures empire is the same as every other empire out there, we have our philosophy, we have our suit, and we should have our fleet.

  • Civ Phase

  • Infantry - Some wars can't be fought with just lethal vehicles. We need specialized creature troops, like troops capable of destroying vehicles and bases, troops capable of ambushing enemies, and troops capable of taking other troops. Also (Maybe) commando's, good at many things.

  • That concludes my current most ammount of requests. Will update later with more.

I posted this in the 'Why no paintbrush for CC' thread but I think it applies here too-

If we can't have one for the creature itself, I'd like to be able to paint the outfitter items with a paintbrush option. It seems odd and bland to have the clothing and armor to be colored the same as your creature, and I know they don't need to be because the skull, gold ring, and some other parts are automatically colored differently. When they are colored the same as the creature on one without a very contrasting color scheme the outfits just end up blending in with the creature and kinda get lost.

If we cant choose our own colors for the parts, having the option to keep the coloring it gets from the creatures paint job, or be able to choose from several preprogrammed choices for each part would be a start, and better than what we have now.
