Slowly but surely, the beach catfish developed stronger and stronger front fins to drag themselves back in the water. Their back fins stayed the same. They began to go deeper into the water, exploring, driven by some sort of urge to learn. When the algae died out, they were the only race smart enough to move.

I think you're suppose to start as one of the starting creatures,not evolving one of them before you start

OOC2: prospo; Well, you can say your race has evolved, but usually you should start as a creature and then evolve it. The only major issue with the creature I see is the second pair of legs, as it has nothing for that to evolve from. So just play as a plain mudskipper for a few posts/pages, remove the legs, and then you can play as a that creature.
OOC3: WOLFIN298; there are no true forests as there are no true trees, so below I have evolved a sort of simplistic tree, so your group might learn to live with them.

Description: To get more sunlight, some grass has begun to expand its root system, as a sort of legs. With this new size creatures can get shade, and a better view of the surrounding area by standing on it. Overtime these plants may become the new trees.

The Tardigrades continue to float, although they have no learned to swim a little better. With with the ability to propel themselves better in the water, more Rotifers can be eaten. But a new instinct has aroused because of the horrible event where most of the Rotifer food died out. When there are few Rotifers, they are to eat only algae and large protists. This is not a learned behavior, so it comes with some pluses and minuses. A plus is that they don't need to be taught this, so they all know. But a minus is that this doesn't increase their brain size much, so they still are very simple.

The beach catfish had swam to warmer places. They had begun to burruw into the dirts beneath the waves to find food. They not used their strong fins to push dirt away instead of to climb onto land. Slowly, the catfish turned back towards the sea. They began to divide the land up, with each catfish having a territory to gather algae in. Their frond fins continued to grow stronger.
