om·nip·o·tent /ɒmˈnɪpətənt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[om-nip-uh-tuhnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective 1. almighty or infinite in power, as God.
2. having very great or unlimited authority or power.
–noun 3. an omnipotent being.
4. the Omnipotent, God.

I don't know why don't you ask him

Maybe thats why he doesn't do anything dramatic anymore, its too expensive and God hasn't traded enough spice yet.

100% approval is not, never was, and never will be the point. So saying that there has to be a perfect game that EVERYBODY likes is fallacious, big time.

The fact is that Spore doesn't live up to the hype, doesn't live up to expectations, and has a much higher disappointment RATIO than many, many games.

The problem is that Spore has become a coloring book instead of a chemistry set

I'm sure Spore could have been better in many ways, but it's still an awesome game.

That is not true. The game is NOT everything they said it would be and just to enlighten people like you id like to make a comparison post about what they said and what we got... except that it would be a monumental waste of time, since you wouldnt listen anyway.

How do you figure?

220+ creations, 100+ hours of gameplay, 68 'achievements' and my months bandwidth gone mainly on one 'game'. i'll grant Spore this: it does keep you occupied ... for a while.

i did catch the toy phrases of Will Wright and his pleas for imagination and how the promoteam was suspiciously most of the time showing creators and creations while more reluctant to show more of the gameplay and it's principles. they probably know it themselves for sure and for marketing reasons they mostly wanted to show what is good about this concept called 'Spore' to avoid the parts they -probably- know are underdeveloped.
i don't know which war has raged in the developer studio for 3 years but it looks like at the end they had to rush all kinds of things together in the marketing illusion 'for all ages and kinds of gamers' also known as the 'KISS' principle: keep it stupid and simple to reach a wide market. meanwhile you'd be amazed how well a 10 year old is able to play complicated games ... unless you never give him/her a challenge of course.

Will Wright is right: the end result is a toy. one to dress things up but even for those with vivid imagination there are almost no tools to make it meaningfull and realistic enough to call it at least a game, a toy to admire and to try things out but hardly complex enough to keep your attention and interest going. my bad if i expected at least mediocre gameplay to measure up to my fascination for the creations and potential possibilities (which looking back mostly could have been).

i don't know where exactly they decided to cross breed evolutionary aspects with 'a taste to please everyone' but the result are underdeveloped minigames which can be fun to play despite of overall simplicity at some free moment but which are probably better sold individually at only a fraction of the total package price and then there's the most extensive part. the space age was probably some unfinished project lying on some shelf threatened to be dismissed. so why not put that in to and call it the next generation of evolution? i doubt there was much testing done by different kinds of regular gamers to rectify a LOT or even dismiss whole ideas throughout every stage.

meanwhile my copy of the galactic edition is allready stored back in my box with about 50 games and unlike some others it is not likely to come out unless i really have no clue what other game to play or when i get a sudden outburst of creativity. rejoice Spore community, this was my last post.

You remind me of myself, just a few days in the future from now.

Nice post .

Except for this being my last pots, I'm pretty persistent. I'll probably be around as long as this is one of my chrome homepages.

Wow, Spore is not disappointing. If anything is disappoint its your own SPORE fault for putting yourself up for that, anyways I love spore as it is highly addicting.

You seem to have fallen into the "I like the game therefore you should too!" argument and that's just plain wrong. I for one am disappointed with spore I think that with a few minor changes spore could have had a much more dynamic game play instead it seems spore thrives on repetition, it sorta seems like Maxis tried to make it more like a single player MMO to me. (no disrespect to Maxis)
