Yeah I figure for a reinstall you dont lose a credit.

Well, it's currently installing, I did not get the error message. So it looks like reinstalling worked. Umm I did mess around with the config files like Properties to try and fix the building baking bug (or the un-bug) so not sure if that would have done anything.

It shouldn't. You have to make changes to your setup for using an install. AFAIK that will not remove an install.

Chris Hecker and Alex Hutchinson, neither of you have any idea what hardcore gamers want. Certainly not this piece of crap that is Sboring. So, just stfu about Spore being attractive to power/hardcore gamers.

You can imagine my quandary.

Although not related to this thread, there has been a release of information from EA about relaxing the DRM in the future. Information can be found here : http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/689340/EA_To_Relax_Spore_DRM_In_Upcoming_Patch_.html

My install is complete, information to come soon from patching

I'm waiting for a direct download. I don't have EADM installed, nor do I want to ever have it installed.

Every time I'm trying to instal the patch I get a message just after the unpacking (I guess) bar fills up that "No space on disc -- to install the update you need 1021381894 B of free space". The thing is... I have Spore installed on E: and it has over 80GB of free space, C: has 2.74GB free space. I have no paging files for virtual memory set on those drives.

Any thoughts and suggestions on what to try next?

That is a dangerous amount of space to be left on your operating system drive.

The problem you are probabbly experiencing is a lack of pagefile room, or any other overhead the program needs to install.

All hard drives act very strangely when they are at or below 15% space, freeing up some space there should solve your problem.

So far i've noticed that when my brain is upgraded I do not see the brain getting bigger. Also when I started the cell stage my cell took along time to load befor i could see it.

Ok, I see the errors, but the point of this is to help resolve the issue quickly. The more info the better, right? Here is a capture of the error, and my system data. This one is based off of XP, maybe a Vista owner could do the same?

The thing is... C: partition is only 7.81 GB big in total, this disc was partitioned ages ago, and since then through all those years it didn't need to be bigger. Is 2.74GB of free space (35% of total) really not enough to instal a ~90Mb patch? I have 3 gigs of paging files on other drives... And if this will be necessary I will repartition the drive and reinstall Windows but it looks like a big sacrafice to install a small patch.

That's why I have to be sure that there are no other solutions for this.

Okay, say I'm willing to use one of my precious re-installs to fix this problem so I can actually get the patch...

Is there anything I need to back up? The "My Spore Creations" folder seems to maintain integrity pretty well (or at least did between installation from CC to Spore), but should I back it up?

What about my save files?

What about the Sporecasts I subscribed to?

My Achievements?

Anyone know how much I should back up, if anything, before attempting a re-install?

Chane,

Reinstalling works. Only thing I can think of is I edited my config files trying to make the buildings and vehicles look better, did you do that at all?

I downloaded and installed the patch..but then, when it was 100% complete, my computer got incredibly slow. So I cancelled the downloading. Everything went back to normal. So I ran Spore again, hoping to retry the process. But it didn't give me the option of downloading the patch again...and none of the feature of the patch were installed, as far as I can tell.

I did actually. I guess a reinstall and a subsequent phonecall for an extra installation allowance is needed.

Hmm... it downloads in the game no problem, then pops up a box that says the patch cannot be applied at this time... and I do not have a EADM Cache folder.

Edit: Disregard, found the file, but it is taking a lot of time and resources to apply it . Hangs at every step of the patching process and is eating my memory...
