They became the front legs. Vampire bats already hunt on the ground at times - the flaps of skin simply devolved. As a matter of fact, devolution is already taking place on a bat species in Papua New Guinea (I think it's there anywhere) where the bats scarcely even fly anymore, instead crawling around like their vole/shrew ancestors in search of insects.

I think that dolphins are the next sapients.

Nah, they'll leave in a few years once they get tired of trying to warn us of our impeding doom. Then it'll just be us and those scheming mice.

If dolphins are the next sapients then it will be after we leave Earth for good. Because do you really think that we as a species would give up our power over Earth to save another race. I don't think so we would kill them because we can hardly stand others of our own race. I mean we kill eachother all the time. What would make the dolphins any different?

I would like to say that I lost the game.

No one knows how to react to another sapient species cause we are so used to being the only truly intelligent species.

They laugh at any joke you tell them. Go on, try it. No matter what joke you tell, no matter how bad it is, they will find it hilarious and laugh and chatter away like mad about it.

YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! So, is it ethical to evolve bats genetically to the point where they have an intelligence level of early humans?

Assuming you obviate the automatic human cultural instinct to wipe them out, yes.

Well if we did evolve bats to the intelligence of early humans we would probably reconize the threat or be our normal selves and wait until the threat is there to do something about it and kill them. The end.

I would like to say that I lost the game.

Make them smart very quickly. Then we release them into a secluded area and send some humans to help them along. We now have a partner and during the evolution of the mind we have a good example of our path to where we are today.

Option 3) Be our normal selves and do buger all about the threat until it is already too late, then elect a pointless succession of leaders after a pointless succession of debates on the issue following a pointless succession of inquiries into what any intelligent person already knows is a threat. Then nuke the planet and wipe out 96% of life on it.

NOW the end.

Why can't we just be humane and put them in small cages in zoos and feed them dried leaves and dung?
