Just because the case law dates from the 1800's doesn't mean it doesn't apply in the present day.

Honestly, I didn't read past 1817. What was your point? I'm not gonna read files of case law because you provided an url. Are you trying to say that there have been no consumer protection laws passed AFTER 1817 that might negate that ruling? Consumers have rights now, and most of those laws were written after the the war with England and the invention of the cotton gin.

If you want to make the claim that there have been consumer protection laws enacted since that time that might negate that ruling, then CITE THEM! I'm not doing your research for you.

Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned (and as far as I care), caveat emptor continues to apply to this situation. If you disagree, then you start putting forth more substance to your arguments.

Didn't you just take my argument and reiterate it?

That's funny. Here I am actually backing my arguments with citations and here you are making blanket statements ("consumers have 'rights'") while trying to dump the burden of proof upon me.

Certainly more than what you've countered with. Blanket statements of gross assumption (you assume consumers have "rights") without backing your claims up with citations.

By the way, do you actually pronounce that "an ooh-ruhl" or are you one of the few people on this planet that doesn't find saying "an YOU ARE ELL" awkward?

What's with all the hating? What's with all the Maxis dissing? What's with all the ranting about this that and the other? Is your shrink on vacation? Or have you not made love in a while? This is a Spore forum, not some sort of Haters Anonymous!

I would like to state here that I LOVE SPORE!

I like the fact that I can create my own world, where everything is perfect in my eyes.
I think the Creator tool is GENIUS, I haven't seen anything like it before.
I love Will Wright and have probably spent over 1000h playing the Sims.
I appreciate the interactive game concept and the fact that they have even made a forum.
I enjoyed watching the podium discussion with Will Wright and Brian Eno:
http://fora.tv/2006/06/26/Will_Wright_and_Brian_Eno

I cannot believe you stupid stinkers go babbling on and on and on about how bad Spore is and how the plant creator doesn't work and how hollow the game is and how the missions aren't in depht enough etc. etc.

You bought it, the money's gone and if you don't like it TOUGH!

But what good is it to pollute the whole forum with your negative energy? I don't think anyone's not going to buy the game because he or she has read your blasted comments on it? Do you think anybody actually reads through the forum at all before the buy it? And most of all: Do you think Maxis is going to listen to what you have to say if you bring it to them in that constant annoying fashion?? -> Will you listen to me and stop? No! So there you have it, point made.

This kind of thread is the worst type of trolling.

If someone posts that they are disappointed in the game or Maxis, they are "stupid stinkers", have psychological problems or do not engage in enough sex.

If you had read the forums, people are posting not in hatred, but in hopes of getting the game they thought they were going to get. The one that was advertised.

Hope is overrated. The "hope" that EA would release a patch that would magically turn the game into "Science Spore" that works flawlessly has about as much practical feasibility as the second coming of SPORE.

Oh you gotta be kidding me. Of all the things to censor, you can't use His name in vain. That's just hilarious.

Those of us that were actually alive before MTV and the internet refer to URL as 'an Earl'. I don't know how you gen-x or special-k kids say it.

I don't really want to get involved in this mess.... But you guys are really arguing a moot point.

Even if there is "precedent" most judges would disregard it, simply because of its age. This issue refers to a computer game, internet/tv advertising, and the rise of the all powerful corporations.

Any good lawyer can shoot holes thru case law thats almost 200 years old.

The internet is becoming its own universe. When in doubt, leave it. You cannot and will not be able to convince everyone to conform to your way of thinking. That's the root of all arguments. Just walk away from your computer screen.

In my experience, people online care when you mention a RL fight you had with someone. It doesn't work so well the other way around because, no matter how well you know the people online, there's still that level of anonymitity.

I personally like the game for what it is though I agree with a lot of the complaints because many people followed the game's devlopment for 3 years. You can't blame them for expressing frustration and dissappointment.

The reason there are ton of negative things is because the people who like spore (like me) are busy playing spore.
