Well, after reading the answers to the recent maxis questionnaire on Spore Galactic adventures (read it here) I’m getting all excited about the potential adventures that are going to be flooding spore in the near future.

One thing that anyone who has used a ‘sandbox’ style adventure creator will be aware that the key to a good set is props!

So, in an effort to get the ball rolling early, I announce Slart1bartfasts Ultimate One-Stop Prop Shop!

Prop Shop Sporecast Right Here and the Prefab Sporecast Right Here!

In addition Dragon 131 has compiled a sporecast of Rideable Vehicles Right Here!

And here is a list of related sporecasts:

Andeavor's eye-popping architecture
Virakotxa's vast and voluminous prop sporecasts
Cathartidae's maze collection
LSunday's Maze parts
Dragon131's castle set
Geezas Props
Ninjageek's lava set
Ninjageek's go-cart set
Adiata's desert buildings
Kiwi-Tea's fabulous library
Kiwi-Tea's golden huts and houses
Sciocont's killer weapons
Sciocont's Cityscapes
Grimbot's Many and Varied prop sporecasts
01001101's Interstellar Intersections
Rednaxela's Stellar Xela collection
Kylerman20's slick shooters
bcrane's atmospheric interiors and props

As a community, we’re going to be looking for all the little things that bring life to a scene, pictures for walls, com panels, bottles, grenades, books, furniture…. You get the picture!

Now, in GA the building and vehicle editors will merge somewhat, so you can make props using any of these editors giving us fantastic freedom.

Ok, so in GA we are still limited by a complexity meter so bear this in mind when you create your props, remember, theatre is all about illusion – so if you’re going to make items that appear small in-game, keep them simple, a medipack can probably be made with only three parts whereas a throne is going to require a bit more detail.

I also think we need to make a convention in the tags for various items which I’ll leave open for suggestions, this will make sporepedia trawling quick and easy so we can get straight on to the fun part, set building!

We have until late June to fill the Prop Shop with some off-the-shelf items which will enable us to hit the ground running!

All submissions will be compiled by myself into one or more sporecasts – although not everything is going to make the cut of course!

So come on sporites, lets get ready for the big day

All submissions will need a link to the creation, and preferably a picture too, If youre unsure how to do this, follow this
link.

All props should be tagged with GAProp

So, to get the ball rolling heres a couple of simple ideas to get you in the mood:

A simple bottle and a thermal detonator, so whatever your skill level I'm sure you have something to offer, including what you may have already made.

Some examples of more complex (and much better props )

Geeza's bridge chair and Grimbot's exploding barrel.

Please bear in mind there are many fantastic threads relating to complete buildings sets and vehicles, so I encourage you to carry on submitting entries like that to those threads. If you have a building set or vehicle sporecast, let me know and I'll post links to them here.

Brilliant! I expect you'll be very busy in the near future. Great idea.

In the dictionary, right next to the word gullible. Don't believe me? Go check.

Geeza has tried something similar, with a different goal in mind (http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/22793.page#542704 ) so if you ask, he'll probably be happy to help. he's even got a sporecast running.

Thanks Max, I've contacted Geeza to see if he's interested, and Puppysworld13 thats exactly the kind of prop we need
We still have time to refine this idea before the sporecasts are set up, for example do we need say, one for 'Sets' ie wall parts and floor tiles and perhaps a different one for 'props' to fill the 'sets'.

I'd like this to be a total community involvement project so all suggestions are welcome - and I really think we need some broad tags to slot our props into - something I'll be thinking over.

Anyone who has made mods for other games - your experience will be most welcome!

Thanks to GibberGabber for the shop sign!

For those who were dismayed at the simplicity of the first few props, we also need items like this to fill the shop:

lets see if we can fill a control room, we need a transporter - more terminals like this one (or better!) and a captains chair. think Startrek meets spore.

Thanks to Geeza for participating too - your sporecast will be posted up here later in the day.

First sporecast will be up tonight, it will be Furniture and will include items for the starship bridge and any other items that fall into this category.

Just think all you designers out there, just one submission each will amount to a tremendous amount of props ready for your adventures! get posting

I thought I'd create something to sit on - we can't have our creatures standing all the time!

Both available in my Geeza's Props Sporecast.

Props are indeed important, and I'm glad to see other people jumping the gun and getting things rolling too! I can remember when I used to make levels for NWN I was always looking for broken stuff. There didn't seem to be an adventure that didn't need an overturned bookcase, a crude firs made from broken chairs, or a big, heaping, stinking pile of trash. I'll be sure to get some of that sort of stuff done before GA comes out.

I haven't done too many props, but I'm starting to toy with them in relation to my Playsets.

Here's what I've got that's worth showing:

Trash and Rubble:

Harkoon Arms Thermal Detonator (looks better lit-up):

Radioactive Exploding Barrel:

And I suppose you could consider all of the destroyed vehicles I've been making for the Wartorn set to be props too. Here are a few of the new boats:

I'm tagging them all "prop", "utility", and "disguise" for the items that can be disguised as in the Q/A. The article specifically mentions the ability to disguise 4 types of doors (each with an "open" and "closed" state), four types of keys, bombs (short, medium, or long time bombs), crates, exploding barrels, land mines, teleporters, jump pads, and power-ups for Health, Damage, Speed, and Armor.

I'm also trying to keep them all in the green complexity level.

Incredible computer bay, Slart! I also love Geeza's chairs!
