Hi Hindsight89,
This patch will be mainly focused on fixing the critical bugs some users are seeing. We'll post a full list of fixes when the patch is released.

As Lucy said in this thread, http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/2897.page we will be releasing the ability to add multiple Screen Names to a Spore Online Account on our website very soon but that new feature will be released outside of this patch once it's fully tested.

We will continue to look at issues people are seeing and are trying to respond as fast as we can.

Yar, but that thread says not to post crash bugs in it. It says to post them in the help section.

Either way, my bad.

I am happy that the company has finally come to resolve these issues, I hope MOST the bugs, old and new, are going to be fixed. I have a question though, will this new patch conflict with the small modifications I have done to the game as proscibed BrigandPhantos? I beleive the advice was put on this thread earlier on. Would i have to revert back to the old text so that no errors occur or what?

By the way, because of your advice, Brigand, you are automatically my friend, which I almost never do on these types of games but, I am happy to download any of your sporepedia content. Because of you, my computer runs Spore almost as well when it was pre-patch.

Everybody out my Verijac, hope ya like them.

That's good, however, my original question was not answered. I want to know if the issue of both the DRM (SecuROM) and the limited installs will be solved (as in, removing both). Please, don't insult my intelligence saying that the extra installs will help with either of these problems.
And please don't insult me by giving the stock answer that "SecuROM and the three limit install are to prevent the game from being pirated." At this point, it's common knowledge that they aren't.

If anything, you could simply reply that at this moment, you have no information regarding either topic, and that you will submit my questions to the EA technical people in order to find out more.

Thank you MKane, but this just isn't enough.

Look mate, the reason he can't answer any questions about the DRM is because he, as well as Maxis, has absolutely nothing to do with it. Implementing SecuROM (as well as porting to Mac via Cider instead of writing natively) was EA's corporate decision, it's apparently also their policy for all future products unless they change it. Don't get me wrong, I have a huge problem with both SecuROM and the install limit too and want to see it gone, but bashing Maxis over it won't get you anywhere. Remember, EA owns Maxis.

Having said that, I'm really looking forward to the patch, hopefully it will make the game playable for me. Fingers crossed.

Often I get a bug where I crash to desktop when I try to land on a planet. Not all planets, I can land on others. I've had my homeworld become impossible to land on, and now a planet of my enemy's that I want to destroy.

I hope this gets fixed.

We have been listening to the reports of issues on this board and to Customer Support and we will be putting out another patch very, very soon. The patch is of course free and should fix the major issues some players are experiencing. We will release it as soon as it's been certified by testing. I know that you've waiting and we really appreciate your patience. It's going to be out very soon as soon as it's been certified.

Thanks again for your patience.

Thank you! thank you! thank you!........... this saves a lot of face in my eyes. Spore is a great game when your able to play it and I appreciate the update and work you guys put into this. I'm just a budding rookie programmer, but even I can appreciate the scope of planning you guys put into this, the hours of constructing the modules, and flowchart designs just to make this game run as smooth, and fun as possible.

It's probably best to put bugs and game issues in this thread. And keep them in this thread so the developers don't have to go looking. It makes it difficult for them to have to keep tracking down complaints and issues between multiple threads.

Not only that, but copyright issues are generally considered a very touchy subject. They don't want to issue statements that might back them into a corner, or that may come across as new company policy. Those issues have to be addressed delicately, and usually in a more public forum such as the media, or through a press release.

Either way, as long as you don't attempt to break into the program, and modify it's code, you should be ok. Also, they "did" raise the install limit. And Lucy did mention that if you reached it, that wouldn't be the last time you could install it. You'd just have to contact customer support and explain your situation. Most of the time, situations like that they are willing to accommodate people on. It's when people get irate and irrational that they turn into a customer no-service department. Which a lot of people do without even realizing it.

One other note on this, if he does make a statement about DRM or SecuRom, keep in mind he may lose his job.

Maby (hopefully) someone is able to help me

At the top of the properties box, is the general tab active, or is it the shortcut tab. Cause the shortcut tab is the one you want. Vista or XP, it's the same in both.

Another possibility is that your not logged on your PC as admin. The ability to modify things like the properties box can be blocked if your not logged on as the Admin of your computer. Admin = Administrator account. You can find this out from the manage user accounts section in the control panel.

The following issues may have been listed off already, but it is late at night and I am way to tired and lazy to find the relevant posts. So consider my post to be a reinforcement post, supporting these issues if they have already been brought up.

#1 Achievements not updating. I have gone to the center of the Galaxy. I have my Staff of Life. The relevant achievement has not popped up as complete. "42. Find the center of the Galaxy"

#2 I am tired of racing back to my planets every time the Grox attack. I may be hundreds of light years away, having traveled through 2 or 3 or more wormholes, and my colonies are screaming bloody murder as the Grox descend from the heavens to lay waste to them. Even T3 planets with 3 colonies and the auto-turret gun roaming around the planets atmosphere is not protecting these planets from attack. None of our allies respond to these attacks and the fastest way to get back home...if you are hundreds of light-years away is just to get yerself killed off and respawn in your home-space. This is annoying and tedious. We need to be able to have more then one spaceship active. Several to patrol around our home system and investigate invasions, and others to use for exploration or conquering. Either this or there needs to be a more powerful planet protection system that can be put in place that will automatically repel invaders or make your planet(s) undesirable for invasion/attack.

#3 I am tired of playing baby-sitter/protector between my allies. Many times I have made allies with 2 or more races. Unfortunately, these races are on rocky terms between themselves, or are already warring between themselves. They call on me constantly to come save their colonies because the other one is attacking them. The only thing to do is to destroy the attacking race, which is still my ally. This is assinine! There needs to be a way to diplomatically solve the war between these two races that are allies with me. Either bribe them to stop or find some diplomatic quest to go on that makes THEM allies between themselves. No more of this "come save me my enemy is attacking, even though I know its your ally" SPORE.

#4 Fix it so creating and editing Sporecasts from in game works. I have created new things and shared them to the server yet they do not show up for me to add them to a currently running Sporecast. They show up on the WEBPAGE, out of the game, but they are not showing up in game or cannot be added in game.
