Does anyone know why when I try to install Patch 5 for Mac it says spore needs to reinstall?

I mean uninstalling, reinstalling, and patching spore is no small process.

Could someone please help me?

I downloaded this patch yesterday for MAC

I have the assymetric feature and I haven't encounter any bug since...

The only strange thing is that today before starting the game, it had to upload one more time and it download something...I'm guessing it is the fix for the Mac Patch...

Since I installed this patch the game crashes all the time. It never crashed before the patch install. I wish I could uninstall, or am I waiting for a patch for the patch. Haha

Uhhh... I had to re-install the whole game after my hard drive broke, but when i tried to re-install the patch, the game said: ERROR, and now i can't download the patch!

You could try doing the manual install

I just got Galactic Adventures yesterday... My game was working fine. Now that I've downloaded the patch the game crashes after the title screen every time I try to load it... Any ideas on how to fix this?

There are several different reasons that this happens, and most of them are relatively easy to fix. It happened to many of us!

You need to look at the stickied posts in the help section (clear down at the bottom of the index). Even if you are running a Mac, look at the windows section too. Many of the fixes are almost the same, since the Mac is running almost the same code as windows, but inside an emulator that makes the service calls for the Mac.

There are stickied posts, still, for problems with patch 5 installation.

If you can't find one that seems like the right answer, you're unsure, or you just want more of a walkthru, please post your questions there and someone will help you find the right answer and get things running again.

It it crashing or just freezing? If it is freezing, just give the computer more time. It is doing a one time conversion of all the items in your in game sporepedia. This can take a while if you have a lot of stuff in your sporepedia. On my PC it took 45 minutes.

However, I only had this delay once.

Hey, I read in the beginning post that this patch solves certain crashes, such as loading a saved game in space stage. Does the patch also fix it when you're also beginning any type of space stage game(ex: a new game, continuing, etc.) and it crashes? Oh, and does it also solve the crash I get when trying to create something(creature editor, vehicle editor, early creature editor, building editor, outfitter)? Because I haven't made any creature without it being in creature stage(and I have to EARN the parts ) for a very, very, very long time, say...three months to the middle of 2009, and space stage crashing-well, that goes into an even longer recollection, like from the beginning of 2009-???. IT DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just installed it, and space stage keeps f*********************************king crashing! I cannot take this without justice done! Why does it not fix any of my game's problems? 1st, I tried a new space stage game. It crashed! Then I tried an old space stage game(which the first post specifically states it fixes) and it crashed then! Then I try it on my normal spore version fo my game, and guess what happened? IT CRASHED! I don't know why it won't fix this problem, but I think someone should at least have solved the problem after it has begun for me and unfortunate others at the beginning of 2009-???! Now, I am going to try the editors, and if they crash, I will come back here and post, asking why none of it has been solved!

Awesome, Maxis. My game crashes when I try to use the editor, and I can't uninstall it! I lost all of my hard work now. How thankful I am, Maxis!

When you use the editor?

I got this once, try logging off when you go into the editors. It worked for me, and it's worth a shot.

Guys, do NOT install Patch 5. IT RUINS YOUR GAME. If you want asymmetry, Get the Spore Trainer thingy which allows you to make asymmetrical parts.
