OmegaRa wrote:so here's the next question. If I delete all my bro/mom's creations from my sporepedia and he logs in under the new name on his comp, will they re-upload onto his screen name? As necro suggested? this questions if for lucy obviously.

I'm thinking it'll require making small edits to each creation to update the author and then manually reuploading them. Not the best of all possibilities, but it's a work in progress.

EDIT:
Gack! But what about comments? I don't want to lose them.

Are you serious?? you (EA) really thought that we would be happy sharing achievements and creations with other family members?? my eldest son is 10 and has preferred to play offline than have to share his in game persona with me!

who ever made that decision(esp. after making the CC multiple account enabled) needs a good talking to!!

ok so im ranting now, but it was a really wrong move.

If Spore was designed from the ground up with one user in mind, then why does page 62 of my instruction manual state that "You may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of he game"? I bought it the week it came out, but it took me a whole month of arguing with Spore employees for them to tell me that they had changed the rules. I originally bought the game with the promise of multiple accounts in mind, but then I tried and it wouldn't let me!

I agree. EA really didn't take families into account. My brother and I payed for the game together, but we are stuck using the same account.

Yea, but at this point me and my younger sibling have put so much of our stuff on my account, getting a new one wouldn't do a whole ton... not that i don't believe something should be done.

Ok so here is my malfunction...I just did a random screen name when I downloaded the trial, but now that I bought the product, I want to use a more permanent screen name. The problem I have is the creations I made under the temp screen name. I don't want to use them. How can I transfer them to my new screen name that I want to use as default?

MaxisLucky wrote:So... now that you know we're working to enable multiple screen names per Spore account, I thought I'd answer some questions about how it's going to work after we complete building out the first round of the new system.

-- How many screen names can I have? How will I set them up? --

On the login page for the website, we'll be adding a link to a page where you can manage your screen names. You'll be able to have a total of 5 screen names tied to one main Spore account. So if you already have a Spore account and screen name, you'll be able to add 4 screen names to that account.

All 5 screen names will be tied to the email address the main account was set up with.

-- What's the deal with my creations and Sporecasts? --

If you log in with your screen name and upload your creations to the server, they will show up with your screen name as the creator. If your sister logs in with her screen name and uploads creations, they will show her screen name as the creator. And so on for all the different screen names for the account.

Every screen name will get its own My Spore Page. Sporecasts will also show up with the correct screen name of the creator of the Sporecast.

That should work - and as I have more details about the actual implementation I'll try to share them.

It's January now; this was originally posted in September. I bought this game for my husband and I to play on our different computers. We're in different galaxies even, but I still can't get it to work unless I use a subaccount. Ever since I started using a subaccount, all of our achievements are combined, which is incredibly lame.

Since we've both been working hard on some of these achievements, we'll both be pretty upset at not being able to get credit for them. As a result, I'm not currently playing a game I love because I see no point in going through all the time and effort to do it when I know that my husband is thorough and will get them all anyway. This sucks.

I agree completely. It just seems wrong that we have to deal with this, especially since my husband and I aren't even using the same computer. It seems pretty standard that SP games allow multiple accounts; I know all of the console games we play are that way.

If I knew that staying offline would have allowed me to not share, I might have done it. As it is, I needed to install the patch that still won't install properly on my machine.

I used to love this game.

Frank, take your rude "trap" elsewhere.

Its a valid complaint...

How much will it cost to run two accounts in one house after you add in all the expansion packs that I'm seriously considering NOT buying now?

Sims was family friendly and allowed multiple installs for genuine households, part of why it was so successfull imo. Spore it seems sucks in this regard, and there is certainly no incentive for a family to buy expansion pack after expansion pack if they only work on one account.

What's also weird is you complaining about people that were complaining more than a WEEK ago.

Appologies for the noobish question but I am trying to delete an extra username i created in http://www.spore.com/view/screenNameManage but the delete link either side of the undesired username does not exist nor can it be found anywhere on the screen

I originally created the username just to see if the facillity works after numerous problems with EA server error messages. After a number of failed attempts to create anything, it eventually worked although the username is pure gibberish. Also noticed numerous usernames were "in use" despite odds on anyone choosing them would be nil ie dkhsu1837.

I've used both IE and firefox browsers to no avail as Firefox plays up occasionally
