One single hardware upgrade will cause you to use up an installation.

That means if you add a stick of RAM, put in a new DVD-ROM, toss in a swanky large Hard Drive. You've shot yourself in the foot as far as Spore is concerned!

This issue may seem small and insignificant to you now, but one month from now, I guarantee that the mass majority of you will have this exact same problem, and you'll be forced to go through what I did.

I promise you, it won't take long for your licenses to deplete, and if you've been paying attention at all to these forums you'll see that it's not easy at all to get new ones! See this thread for more details: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/6800.page

It is very true, this pc changes more parts then the friggin space shuttle.

Not to mention I was stupid enough to pre order 2 G.E.
wich means I will have no acces to 5 installs.

Bad form EA!

You honestly don't think I am going to comply to your terms of agreement do you?

Signed.

I didn't like this when I first heard of it, and nothing I have seen since purchasing the game has given me any reason whatsoever to feel it is justified. I have several pieces of hardware I want to troubleshoot by testing in this machine. I do not expect to lose all my licenses by exerting my right to change my own hardware.

Furthermore I would expect EA to reimburse me for any phone charges incurred whilst calling them to arrange further licenses.

That is going to be Chapter 2 in my little saga. They should expect a flurry of E-mails once I get my phone bill. Obviously I'll record everything so I can let you guys know what happens.

Yay for freedom to share information!! Of course, that's not true if you live in the US, where the saying is "You can talk about anything and share all the information, unless we feel you shouldn't...for security's sake, of course. Now that second question was about oil where?"

I can't wait to read everything Dairuka!!

Agreed.
If Sims 3 has DRM i probably will not purchase it. The amount of times i have re-installed the sims 2 on my computer is countless.

Good luck, hope it works out, and will be interested to see how it goes . This sort of thing is worth pushing as the only way to get through to these people is by hurting their wallet, even in a small way.

Just checking back in, I see EA is still clinging to their use of DRM and a pointless, badly engineered and counter-productive install limit. I also notice EA has yet to add the additional 2 installs or the install reimbursement (which should have been there from the beginning) which we were promised. EA must think making empty promises to placate angry customers will do the trick, then it's back to the business of backstabbing them as usual.

I was dumb enough to pre-order 1 GE, and I would have felt alot better pirating it. If I had pirated it and then heard about the DRM, I would have felt good about it. Becaouse I would get it 1 week after the realease, I would have helped the protest againt DRM, and I would feel good about not having SecuRom in my computer. But I bought it, and now I feel like I was fooled, like I am a money cow, and I also know that I installed malware in my PC on pourpose and I by far didnt get the game I expected. Now all I can do is feel like an idiot an complain in the forums. So much for the higher quality of original products over pirated ones.

Why don't you mods listen to me?
Just sticky the thread. I'm sure some of you mods agree with this thread. If you do, you have every right to voice your opinion.

I know, you're not supposed to. I was a GM for a private server once. I know the rules. "Be invisible...in the background."
However, this is a SERIOUS issue. EA is promoting the use of SPYWARE and MALWARE to monitor it's customers!! THAT INCLUDES YOU!!

It's like they say, no one is above the law, which means no one is above being a victim.

If they made it a sticky, they would admit the problem and how many people are bothered by it, and therefore would have to do something about it. And they dont want to do something about it. They just seem to want to be flooded by lawsuits.
