Posted this on pg 14, but got bottomed so missed, but what I did to unpatch, Should preserve your planet saves. This is win XP as well

For those of you that had the patch cause problems, I posted this several pages back, but it is pretty much impossible to read the whole thread, so for ease of gameplay, this is the fix back to 1.0.0

First off, a standard re-install will not work, you need a clean reinstall. To do so, do the following.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\(User name)\Application Data\SPORE. This file is what causes the cache glitches, however in the folder there is stuff that needs to be copied to preserve your saves. this is the following:

Folder: Games (this is your save planets)
File: EditorSaves.package
Folder: CityMusic (if you create your own)

After copying this, uninstall the game and delete this whole folder. Then go into the program files folder and make sure it is deleted. After reinstalling, copy them back.

Invisble EPICS really suck. There was an improvement but not perfect with the impress actions. ANd I finally saw the flock I summoned.

When facing invisible creatures, hit escape to bring up the options menu, then select the spyglass option to view your surroundings. Let it sit for a minute, and move the spyglass cursor around the screen through random locations. You'll eventually see the cursor change to indicate it found something. At this point it'll be a moment aka 10 - 30 seconds and all the creatures will be visible again. Once this happens, go back to the game and everything will be visible again.

Sorry this is a drag to have to do, but since it's now approaching the month mark since Maxis screwed up their game, and with no patch in site, you'll have to deal with it as it is.

Sucks yes......
But I've moved on to other games. Only sticking around long enough to help a few people. And at the same time hoping Maxis decides to care and help their customers fix a broken product.

I haven't had any issues with the game up until 4 days ago. I'm not sure why all of the sudden im having problems. It crashes anytime I try starting on a new world and also when trying to break orbit to land on certain worlds in my old games. Also if I try to look at certain creations on sporepedia the graphics don't load and I crash.

Anyone else having any recent issues not patch related?

Tried changing the target in spore properties like BrigandPhantos suggested, but no luck

Yet another disappointing update I am now having regular crashes in the tribal stage. RIght in the middle of 2 tribes attacking me the game decided I was doomed and crashed for the second time in a row. Im doubting now that my game is even playable anymore with the PATCH O DOOM installed. Thank you BrigandPhantos for the infor.. I think the only way IM going to have my game playable at this point is to do a reinstall.

Don't mean this in a rude way, but it's been almost a month already. How long do you want to wait? Honestly, Maxis, we need an update and ASAP!

I patched my Spore as soon as the patch came out and had been running fine until a couple of days ago. I was in the Space phase of my game tootling around the galaxy when my game suddenly crashed all the way to the desktop. The only error message was the standard Microsoft Reporting Message that says, "Spore has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Now all I can do is get to the galaxy screen. When I try to open up my old save game it crashes to the desktop.

I started a new game and played through the Cell Stage. Before I advanced to the Creature Stage, I saved my game. After saving I tried to advance to the Creature Stage and my game crashed to the desktop. I restarted and got back into the new game where I left off. I tried to advance to the Creature Stage again and the game crashed to the desktop again. Now I can't get into either of my saved games, the pre-crash old one, nor the new one...the game just crashes to the desktop when I try to open any saved games. When I create any new games, regardless of the stage I start in, it crashes to the desktop when I try to advance to the next stage. Apparently I can still use all of the creators and save my creations....just can't play.

I have a PC running WindowsXP Pro SP3 with an Intel 865PERL Motherboard, A 3.4GHz P4 CPU, 2G of RAM and a nVidia 8600 Ultra Graphics Card.

My problem is (and it drives me crazy because I cant figure it out), that I am able to open the *shortcut properties*
windows from my shortcut, but I am not able to enter anything.

***There should be a text box labeled Target to the left of it. Click inside that box, and move the cursor all the way to the right. You should see something similar to this in the box:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeApp.exe" ***

What I see is...Target: Spore

Thats it, and its not even highlighted so I could type something in it. All my othert shortcuts on my desktop from games look like in the example above...just Spore is not looking like that.

Usually there is also a Start in:blablabla, were as mine is empty.

Maby (hopefully) someone is able to help me

Thanks

Hi Spore Players,

We have been listening to the reports of issues on this board and to Customer Support and we will be putting out another patch very, very soon. The patch is of course free and should fix the major issues some players are experiencing. We will release it as soon as it's been certified by testing. I know that you've waiting and we really appreciate your patience. It's going to be out very soon as soon as it's been certified.

Thanks again for your patience.

Respectfully~
Which issues will this fix? My biggest is the DRM and the limited installs. I'm sure those won't be fixed in this patch. Please, I'm just looking for SOME information.

I didn't see a bug report thread in the help section, so I hope this is in the right place to post this.

This is a freeze/lockup/crash, but one that can't be easily tested/repeated by me, as aside from crossing your fingers and waiting forever, you'd really need to be able to force game events to see it.

I uplifted a species near me, very soon after getting the "they have reached the space stage" message I hop over to their homeworld. I decided I was going to wipe them out because I didn't care for their philosophy. Rather than see it be a complete waste I decided I'd create an alliance with them, then a trade route (for those stats) then wipe them out.

They only had three cities on their homeworld. I drop an antimatter bomb on the first, and then the second. Not until destroying the second do I get the "they might start shooting back" and "they're losing interest in your alliance" messages. While on my way to the third I get the "an unknown fleet is attacking your allies" popup, but I ignore it thinking I'll take care of it right after destroying the last city.

I drop a third antimatter bomb on the third city, and right as the white flash comes up it freezes. (Visually, but the sound repeats.) I'm thinking "great, it crashed", and then I notice that the popup was about a fleet attacking the ally and planet that I was just trying to wipe out.

The screen went black before I could check the minimap, so I'm not sure if I was the "unknown attackers", or if a second fleet just happened to come along during my attack. Either way it was an odd confluence of events and not something I could really repeat to see if it crashed again.
