Well I was just scrolling trough the achievements in Spore and I came across this one,
"Epic Killer.
Kill an epic in creature stage"
Has anyone managed to achieve this one and how did you go about it?

I've killed an epic in the tribe, civ and space stages, but creature? I didn't even think you could do damage to them in creature stage.

I've killed one but it didn't give me the achievement...what I did was lure it to my nest, then use spit level 5 on it continuously. The other 3 creatures in my pack attacked it with bite 5 or something and it didn't even kill one of us.
anyway, thats how I did it, i know its possible to kill one.

I gave one a 'good fight'. My pack consisted of me and three Rogue creatures I had befriended for some good firepower to try to take one down (all pretty much max level).

I got it down from about 1000 hp to, oh, 700 or so. It was by far the best I've ever done, but it wasn't even close. All epics seem to have a special 'stomp' attack that causes instant death when they use it, regardless of your HP.

I haven't tried it myself, but it is mentioned in the Prima strategy guide (yeah, I went out and bought it - gives me something to read between classes ). They suggest using a spitter weapon to keep hitting it from a distance. Also be sure to have a full pack, and try to include a Rogue creature in your pack as well, as they are more powerful than normal allies. These are the ones seen occasionally running about alone. Like I said, I haven't done it, so I'd love to hear if anyone has succeeded in this and if the "official" strategy works.

Oh i see, I had tried level 5 spit on it too, but not at my nest only with my pack.
Maybe I'll try your way, how long did it take the epic to die?

This is the usual way, yes. Unfortunately, you won't get the achievement if another creature lands the killing blow.

Cheers.

There seems to be a bug where if you're on your nest, you don't get hurt by them. Chances are you also don't get an achievement if you do it that way. You might try luring it near allied creatures and see if they'll help attack it once you get it attacking you. I know I've seen creatures I've tried to kill run over to an ally's nest and suddenly they all charged out at me.

Hope they're planning to fix that in a patch. That's a lot of work to have an NPC get the credit.

What you do is, wait for it to get to about 50 health, then lure it away. If you shoot it, it'll turn to attack you, and once you get a certain distance from your nest, the others will leave it alone. You'll have to play tag with it for a while to finish it off, but as long as you use objects like big trees or rocks to block its path, you should be okay.

Maxed-Spit, stealth (any level), and herbivore/omnivore. Optional: maxed-speed and sprint.

Strategy: spit, run backwards, stealth when they're near (they CAN't detect stealth). Get distance, eat up, continue. Try to get some obstacles between you and the epic. Try to fight non-jumping epics.

I lured one to my nest full of Lvl 5 spitters one time - where it proceeded to stomp them all to death in a matter of seconds.

I ran around spitting at it for a long time after that, but was in danger of starving to death looong before his HP got low. They heal really fast too.

Yeah..I can't imagine trying to do it without being at least an omnivore. The only reason I lasted long enough to kill it was that I could stop for fruit every once in a while.
