Species Name: Inabdomen/ tergumcrur "Upon Belly/ Back Legs"

Native Name: Vip'L / Biol

Human Nickname: Mud Slider / Hopper / Snoopy Frog / Grenouille

Location: Barin Island

Taxonomy: Life --> Imperia --> Disymmetra --> Ferecorda --> Duososida --> Peratergum --> Primoris --> Inabdomen --> tergumcrur

Habitat: Mud Flats, Swamps and Marshes.

Appearance:

Diet: Liquiphites, Aquatic Photosynthesizing Imperia and various other small organisms that can be found in the mud of swamps and flats.

Special Anatomy:
The nature of the Inabdomen terguncruris that of an over-sized filter feeding frog that reaches up to two feet long, these ancient creatures live there lives living in mud and murky water, they've adapted by directly soaking in their needed gases through their skin, including a highly porous sail. The usual breathing slits have simply become gills, filtering the water.

The "Vip'L's" hind limbs are large and heavily muscled, a sail can be raised and lowered to ward off other Vip'L, when the sail fails then two pairs of long jagged claws will be lashed out at the interloper. These claws sometimes met the legs of human explorers and their habit of being covered in an array of flesh eating bacteria is rarely appreciated.

The front limbs have become Asymmetric, once has formed a tube which sucks in mud and water, which is then channeled down the tube to grinding mouth pieces which filter and mulch edible matter, AKA everything, and expel what remains of the inedible muck. Liquiphites are common prey, as are small krill like creatures.

The second limb is much shorter and used for breeding, when mating begins the two Vip'L moving the sides of each other and mate, both mates watch for ever present danger, especially natives who have a taste for a creature's legs, not unlike the tastes of the Human Frenchman for a certain creature's legs. Th flesh was once described by, a French explorer as tasting much like frog legs. The rest of the expedition claimed the taste was that of chicken.

Once mated the two Vip'L part, the female leaves, her duty is done, the male has in fact been given the female's clutch of over a hundred minuscule eggs, which will hatch with in two weeks as tiny, miniature Vip'l and crawl one by one from the male's breeding limb. The male will live to breed again.

The head of the Vip'L has a peculiar shape, which is used in mating displays, as a general rule males that are stronger and eat better have larger head protrusions, simply as a rule though, a small population exists through out the Vip'L range which lives much shorter lives but place most of their growing energy into producing their heads, sometimes to a point that they cannot move quickly making them easy prey. The gene that causes this makes the effected Vip'l much more likely to mate at the cost of being more likely to get eaten and living short lives. Stopping the gene from consuming the entire Vip'L population.

A pair of hoods are used for picking up sound quite effectively.

Description/Uses/Other:

The Tergumcrur is a common representative of the small genus Inabdomen, found mostly around the Barin Island Archipelago, where they have been protected from other more successful groups that have filled similar niches. There are only three members to the genus and are found in the small salt water swamps on the islands.

Small populations of natives inhabit the islands and feed regularly on the legs of the Vip'L. It is common to chop just one leg off, since Vip'L can regrow legs, leaving the Vip'L with the other to escape predators and so provide again for the natives. The claws of the Vip'L are sometimes used to line paddle-like clubs used by the islanders in warfare, which easily chop through flesh and make excellent weapons.

Vip'L are only found, with the rest of it's genus on the Barin Islands and are likely doomed to the introduction of foreign species which work in similar ways to that of the Pacific islands and the introduction rats and pigs.

They what?

I'm no longer certain, I think it was supposed to be stampede or startle or scare, now I'm wondering if I was taking something, I'm really no longer sure.

Lets say it never happened, what ever it is.

Origionally when I read the discription, I thought is was ej@culate (that word's cencored - try it), as flashing lights are part of their mating displays, right?

Also, thanks for the updates. I'll edit the OP's later today.

Yeah, eh, doesn't say when flashing colors do not register as mating displays? Followed by a sentence mentioning how many explorers have been stampeded when do to that or something.

I usually try to keep "SPORE's" out of my descriptions.

I'm thinking I either misspelled or was at some point struck by a hefty object giving me a delusional high which included me battling a giant dragon/squirrel with tea pot.

I'm think the first one.

How the heck to you spell "stampede" or "trampled" wrong in such a way that it gets censored? Ej@culate still makes sence, though so does stampede.

Lol. Perhaps option two is the more likely. XD

An inside joke, I'd show you the thread but I'd rather not reopen that discussion.

Still, I don't think your suspect word is what I put. I wish the censor didn't cover up the word in the editor so I could figure out what went wrong. I'm doubting a glitch since of all the thousands of words I've written it had to be that one.

Ah.

Ok, time to get back on topic. There's still something you and Johnsonia owe me. You both still need to take pics of your creatures. Please see the first post. Somewhere in there I tell you how to do it.

I don't need any pics for any life that's not in the Bisymmetra kingdom. For everything else the online png's fine.

I should probably write stuff up for my Trisymmetriods.
I made two Liquiphites, but I'm not so sure if they are true to the Liquiphite descriptions. For instance, would the "Hard Water" ones be somewhat like Cnidarians? Oh, and the Effingoporifera ones, how similar to sea sponges are they?

I don't think anyone gets how truly simple Liquiphites are. Let me give you an example of what a basic member of the Laxus kingdom could look like:

They can not support complex structures because they have no cells!

"Hard Water" Liquiphites could look something like this:

Because their structures are reinforced by natural substances that make them more like jelly, they can arrange themselves in a more complex manner.

Another more complex Liquiphite taxa, Textusmuci, has a sticky structure almost resembling cobwebs. They are able to arrange themselves into web-like structures by streaching themselves. They are able to do this by expanding or contracting special membranes that cover their liquids.

Strangely, more advanced species are infact smaller, as their mitosidal reproduction caused each generation to get smaller and smaller with each split, because of a lack of substances to build themselves from at the time, though they allways retained the membranes untill oneday their genes aranged themselves into nuclei and they became the first cells - the first Imperians.

The Effingoporifera you asked about shares this membrane, but they arrange themselves in a sort of spongy "swiss cheese" structure, the most complex of any of the Liquiphita, and is so able to arrange their structures in very diverse ways. Some have evolved a tubular shape which they orient in the direction of the current in water. Food particles then get "sucked" into the tube by the water current. While most get swept out the other side of the tube, many of the food particles (and other particles) get stuck in the tiny holes in the side of the tube created by the spongy swiss cheese structure.

There's a reason I asked you to only create members of the Dous taxa for now. I still need to discribe the rest.

P.S.
