What a lie! Every single vehicle and building I have ever run across is Maxis. What's the point MAXIS?! Creatures I run into the occasional real game player. Besides my own stuff and a few other users creatures, I get a galaxy filled with Maxis junk. Not one user vehicle??? And no, I have no limits on my sharing or downloading. What a jip.

Thats just bad luck, i barely encounter anything Maxis.

As the database fills up with Civ and Space material, there will be less and less chance for you to run into Maxis material. The only issue is that people are kind of turned-off by both of those stages at the moment. So they hang out in Creature, hence the massive numbers of player-made critters running around.

Why can't there just be on option to randomly download x thousand creatures/vehicles from other players. The sheer dominance of Maxis content, I agree is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to download sporecast after sporecast - I was under the impression that I would be immersed in player content automatically...this is disappointing.

I on the other hand have seen way too many user made Cavemen, Charles Darwins and Starship Enterprises that I wish I could go back to just Maxis creatures. I'm just glad I've never encountered any fallus shaped creatures.

I kinda side with the topic creator on this one... In fact the Maxis Employee response generally is: Download more stuff yourself (Via stuff online)

The game should take more initiative in downloading online and should use Maxis content LESS!!! (Especially since it didn't take long to learn that Maxis Content is rather poor)

before all my new games i go into the search and sit there downloading cool looking stuff, ive downloaded maybe 600 new things, but only spaceships, space creatures and fresh creatures... its cool having a fleet of nice looking ships.

also if you find a good artist just subscribe, wait till download is finished and then unsubscribe

Add buddies (those don't need to be people you know, just guys who have cool creatures/other stuff), subscribe to sporecasts. The game will download content from those and then will download 100+ random items whenever you run the game on-line. I assure you, you WILL curse every time it does that 'couse around 90% of the things it will download will be JUNK and you will have to remove them yourself as there's no way to stop the download other than go offline or remove all the sporecast and buddies. Or turn on buddy-only-content and loose ALL non-buddie content aside from Maxis stuff.

So... you have to choose yourself.

I encounter Maxis content about 1/3 of the time for vehicles and buildings, about 1% of the time for creatures, and 100% of the time for cells and flora (of course). I have about 5,000 total downloads, although of course most are creatures. So I think it's about right. It'll get better once everyone has stopped binging on playing the actual game and go back to futzing around with the creators.

Strange, i've only ever had to delete one creature (and only because of it's name, not what it looked like).

Everything else my game has downloaded has been fine.

we shouldn't have to go into the sporepedia just the download the things that should be populating our games to begin with. I'd be happy with even 50% Maxis stuff. But right now I'd say I'm getting 90% or more just Maxis material.

There's a serious problem with the random downloading of stuff. It should download only featured content, your subscriptions, and your buddy's stuff.

I too am friggin tired of getting JUNK in my sporepedia. And turning it to just buddies means I can't use any sporecast stuff!!! WTF!!!

Personally, I like the random downloads. I don't really want to spend hours searching through the Sporepedia for stuff to download. Instead I get to be surprised when I come across something unique or interesting. Out of 3000+ auto downloads, I've only had to ban one of them due to an eplicit name. Haven't really seen any "JUNK" yet.

Im tired of having junk automatically downloaded into my game. What happend to having it pick stuff based on what you like? I'd rather it gave you a page that said "you need more of this kind of something, which do you want?" Instead of the constant influx of crap. its either too much junk from others, or junk from maxis... Plus their servers are so glitchy i cant update my sporecast and actually use good stuff...
