I know how they would be able to know your the same person (as long as you don't tell people what it is), and they would still be able to keep the install limit to three computers.
When you install it you have to call them and just tell them what your computer's service tag or something is that's easy to find on the outside of your computer and then your copies activation code, then they write it down so they know to keep from using one of your 3 installs up if you have to uninstall Spore,or reformat, or upgrade your computer.

Is it just me or do they think doing the whole 3-install thing will get them more money and costumers?!

I really wish I'd signed the petition against SecuROM now...

Click on some of the eggs plz, it won't sell ya nothin or advertise or do any harm to your computer. They need clicks in order to hatch and live, otherwise they'll...DIE! D:

who knows... it didn't stop piracy though, that's for sure. Maybe EA is just a massive troll and likes to see everyone get annoyed

Disks of EA
1. A product is just that, a product
2. A product is not made to increase happiness in the customer; in fact it can decrease happiness.
3. A product is made for the sole propose of making money.
4. For example, if I had a product, I would try to make it seem as good as possible, emphasizing the good parts, and not mentioning the bad, so I could fool you into buying it for a rip-off price.
5. The customer may have been happier than if I had sold him a normal product at a normal price, but the seller would have been sadder, so with that said, the seller can safely conclude he made the right choice.
6. He knows the customer’s opinion does not matter, and happiness in general does not matter.
7. All that matters is money, and we will don’t care if we anger many people in the process
8. Good patches and expansions may clam the crowd, but why work for something that already fell in the trap? They already gave us money, so why should we give them free options?
9. Other companies make cheaper and better products than we make, but we will buy them out one of these days, until only we remain!
10. If we are the last, than there will be a monopoly, and we can sell whatever we want for as high as a price as we want! Only than, will we have enough money.

The only fallacy with that thinking is that a monopolist can sell their product at whatever price they want. It is up to the consumer to purchase the product if they want to, so the price must be lowered to meet demand and optimize profits. Other than that, that example of basic economics 101 is spot on.

True but who could resist spore? It's one of the most ground breaking games of the last few years for sure... It's just a shame that EA are the publishers.

And I agree with DiskaI2 that's indeed how they seem to regard their customers alot of the time.

I used to play BF2142 (then I got a new computer and forgot my old EA Account name, and tried to play it again with a new account. It didn't let me, even with my activation code). I had a weird glitch with the screen going black at times when I went in certain areas, and kept getting auto-mated responses. It finally was fixed, when I, without being told to, updated my drivers. They could have told me the solution in hours.

This was even funnier, this second case.

I bought "Medal of Honor: Airborne". It was a ripoff, not enough missions. However, when I first got it, every time I installed, it flashed some screens and closed.

Knowing that EA would ask for my DXDiag file, I created it and dumped the results from the program into it, sending that along with a long description of the problem.

My response?

[...] blah blah blah Please attach the DXDiag file to your reply blah blah blah

I snickered, since I already sent it to them. In the end, it was due to the fact the installer never asked if I wanted to install ageiaPhysX. As the version I had was newer, it spazzed out without telling me what was wrong. I had to entirely uninstall my physics software, then let it install the OLDER version onto my computer! Doh!

EA needs help. Psychiatric help, maybe.

Seriously, though, my opinion of EAxis has dont something like this:

When I bought Medal of Honor Airborne: 100

After encountering massive problems installing Airborne, fighting tech support, and finding the problem out myself: 0.

Extremely painful customer service, trigger-happy customer service reps, and automated responses that had no value. Come on.

Sigh...tired of Spore, moving on to BF2142 and TF2. I might come back later, maybe not.

I think they made a tool to remove SecuROM after you uninstall Spore. (I heard about it on Kotaku)
