Depends what the expansion is, if it was, say, a tree creator EA would go bankrupt the day it was announced. However, if they made a more complex city editor, or made the encounters with other species/tribes/cities the game has the potential to go on for about 4-5 years, more if they play there cards correctly.

I said 3. A lot is going to depend on the first expansion. If they make all of us board dwellers happy then who knows the game might gain a second wind (but I doubt that). I would guess that there will be an aquatic one already in the works too.

I think a lot is riding on this first expansion.

The first expansion will be nothing more than another failed promise. So sayeth Nostradaminionjoe.

Probably 4-5 years. @ expansions per year giving us back the content that was initially shown with lots of parts packs kinda like The Sims.

Maxis made "Science and Everything Spore". EA tore it down and decided to give it to us piecemeal.

I am enjoying Spore and probably I will buy the various expansions and part packs since there isn't much else I enjoy playing on my comp anymore (besides DoW, SM Pirates and Civ, Simcity).

It sucks that it will cost so much, but everything these days costs too much.

2 patches which broke more than it fixed... and an overpriced content pack is not playing the cards right, they have aces up their sleeve.

I don't know. The Sims has been around for a good 8 years and I still see their crap line the shelves. With EA at the helm, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is possible...

Spore as it stands now, will not last a year. But I fully expect EA to figure out where it went wrong *cough*install limits*cough* and its market *cough*overpriced*ciough*.

i think that EA will fix the glitches, and then add more features, if they do so they will easily last 5 years

if they fix the game it will last 3-5 years then it will come spore 2

There are a few oldish games that still have a community...

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is an example.

So it might last longer than it's intended lifespan, yes.
