Yeah I'd say Spore is more casual than deep.

I'd say it belongs with the Wii games

Eh, i am did not say that because it was in the children section of Wal Mart is the main proof and reason that its gameplay is for casual/younger demographic. Infact, i said it help me come to a realization that i did not want to admit to myself, please, dont twist my words around.

The truth is Will Wright himself stated that the game was made with less depth purposly to target a broder audience, which in theory is a great idea.

PROBLEM though: they advertised the game for hard core and casual gamers, which i think have created a strong negative feedback on the boards by these hardcore gamers. They also DID leave out alot of content they said WOULD be in Spore with they pre-launch marketing tactics. This also have caused alot of negative feedback on the boards.

I just lump 'em into the "Unpleasable Fanbase" category and largely ignore them.

God, I love TV Tropes. <3

I like Spore. However, I am NOT twelve years old, nor a 'casual gamer', nor ignorant or in denial. I'm just a person who likes games, and happens to like one you don't. Go ahead and hate on the game all you want, but please, stop insulting/generalizing the people who DO like it. Thanks.

Ever really notice the employess at WalMart ? Most are either on the first job in the US , un-employable elsewhere, trailer trash middleclassers , or just outright wannabe carnies (Im being too kind) . Spore could end up with the livebait worms and most of them wouldnt notice or care , give them credit for managing to get it in the game aisle.

dont get your panties in a bunch over Spore sharing the same shelf as SpongeBob Goes to Sea Weed World and Barbie WildHorse Adventures.

well, give it some time, and see what happens.

maxis can't just poof, and change the way the game works. they are adding things. look at the patches. yeah some things are not working on some people's computers, but in general the game is working on most computers. yeah there are things you want added. some things have been added, some changed. Maxis has to figure out how to change the game, and make it work on everyone's differing system, and not be a 200 gig download (people were complaining how the patches too so long to download, what if it was the change you all want? it would take 12 hours, on DSL)

keep giving feedback, and they will )hopefully) keep making tweaks.

no, it will never be a enough of a change, to make it change demographics, if you are trying for that...well you out of luck. but there will be changes that will make it better, things finished, and patched, expansions released.

if you listed everything that everyone on this forum wanted, and maxis did it, you would get a patch in 3-4 years, and would be a gigantic file, and alienate many people from playing the game because it would "be to complex" (i would love the game if all these great ideas we implemented).

what is needed, is support for the parts we like, and concise lists, of "one at a time" things for them to do, and maybe we will get them. not "you guys suck because i want all this crap, now" threads.
