Super-friendly it is not - right-click on a hinge/motor, look under the "hinges" sub-menu, at the bottom of the menu, you'll see a few checkboxes "motor" "reverse" - and in there will be one that controlls rpm (rotations per minute) as well as motor power.

Yeah, I tried that but it still goes the same speed.

Bleh, won't run properly on world's-crappiest-laptop over here -.- (I guess that answers the question of whether I should use one of my Spore installations on it )

I'll be sure to download it onto the desktop and post what I think.

Because I just have such a valuable opinion.

CRUSH.

You could use a chain (chain tool) or a spring (spring tool) - either one would probably suffice...

Goodbye.

there is no air in there. Gravity yes, but no air And it's weird, but I gave it try for an hour or so, and found myself missing Spore. Not sure if awesome is the word... but it's kind of neat.

if you like that, but need something a little more entertaining, try this:

never fails to make me laugh!

Along similar lines, here's another 'sandbox' that ironically is called powder game. Lots of entertainment value for creative types. It's online and java based.

I give you Phun.

An example of some of what you can do:

Science. A simple ruleset (objects have mass, velocity, inertia, density, elasticity. Aaaand... go!).

It supports virtually unlimited two-dimensional creativity. Imagine how much more fun Spore could have been if it had merely done some of this in three dimensions. Cause an avalanche, throw objects and topple others, build a fort. Just to start.

Have fun, and do try and get hurt. Making mistakes is almost all of the enjoyment.

Check out the online movies of what can be done - some motors and objects can be triggered with keystrokes, meaning you could make remote-controlled machines... some guy made a Caterpillar scoop-loader that is just amazing!

Agreed - the editor portion could really use some love. And some preset objects...

It's amazing how complex an object you can make

I play that all the time. It's better than this "Phun" game.

Oddly enough, it's also an emergent ruleset: it's alife with particle dynamics and gravity.

Goodbye.
