So they are working on the parts pack and not fixing bugs.

This is EA we're talking about. Patches do not produce profit for them.

The other has been the response that the space stage has received. The open-ended aspect of that and the imagination that players are expressing in terms of where they want to go and giving feedback in that vein. These are the things we're listening to that have helped us focus in on what we want to deliver as we add some depth to that area of the game.

It's interesting here that she didn't try to claim Space was OMGWTFPOCKYAMAZING.

We'll see what comes.

Maybe this will turn out into a usable product in the end.

This parts pack is a complete rip off.. One more thing that should have been included with the game from the start. At this rate, they will continue to sell us the complete game in little parts and 200 dollars later we'll all get to see what spore should have been. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not falling for this.

I really enjoy this game, take a look at my creations. They may not be the best you've ever seen but it shows that I DO spend a lot of time playing this game and creating things. I really enjoy Spore but we need to stand up to EA and put a stop to this nickel and dime nonsense before they completely chase off everyone and kill the game.

The either need to put ALL of the goodies into one Xpac for one price or give us these little pacs for free.

If you cave into them now, they will release something else for 20 dollars here and 20 dollars there. I like this game but it's not SO great that I'm willing to dump 200 dollars a year into it just to enjoy the little extras that should have been in the game from the very start.

I also play World of Warcraft and I do realize that I pay 15 dollars a month but it's really a lot more fun than spore as well. Also for that 15 dollars a month, I get to hang out with family and friends that also play WoW and Blizzard is very good about adding content the game often at no extra charge. The only time you pay for an Xpac is when they have a really large amount of content to add to the game.

So the good folks as EA can't even come close to trying to compare Spore to an MMO to justify sticking it to us every couple of months for 20 dollars here and there. I know several people that play spore but there is NOTHING we can do together in Spore. We can share creations.. big deal. There's not even anyone to talk to in Spore.

There is nothing about Spore to justify this kind of added expense for little extras. I'll gladly pay for Xpacs that have substance to them but this little creature pack is a complete rip-off.

Ill put my money on it....when a REAL expansion comes out this will come FREE with it. This is probly just a chance to get an early taste...like buying the full version of creature creator before Spore came out.

the other night i was going through my Spore Artbook
and i saw that in the early stages they had Fur to choose from but i guess they decided to throw that out, which is weird to me because alot of my creations are Mammal types and i want to have the option of Hair, and fur. i for one would like to see this as an expansion pack. anyone else with me on this?

Yes there used to be fur. Hecker mentions it in a couple of interviews I've seen. But they threw it out as you said.

It doesn't take much to realize it'll be thrown back in for money.

Chris Hecker wrote:We had fur for a while, so I'm sure that'll come back at some point. Some early skinpaint prototypes supported emissive textures as well (meaning the creatures could light up at night like a firefly), which was cool and I hope will make a comeback. Maybe if we bring underwater civilizations back...glowing fish creatures would be cool! For clothing, it's been interesting to watch, because we initially thought about it and punted, because it's so amazingly hard for arbitrary creatures, but then the tribal, civ, and space accessory editors (the editors for hats and armor and decorations on your creatures in the later games) actually let players make clothing piece by piece, and it works great. So, the lesson there is: when faced with a really hard technical problem, just punt it to the players and they'll do a better job than you could have anyway!

Ladies and gentleman, it will be an undisclosed amount of time before the press conference for RocketGirl's thoughts on this matter. When she posts, you all will know.
